Served on tap in a pint glass

Appearance – Served a clear golden colored brew with a tiny half finger white head. The head faded rather fast to leave only a very light level of lace on the sides of the glass

Smell- The aroma is heaviest of a citrus grapefruit hop smell with some sweeter caramel mixed within. Along with these smells is a lighter bready smell and hints of some pine hop.

Taste –The taste begins with a light bready and light caramel flavor mixed with a rather strong amount of grapefruit hop bitterness (at least for the relatively mild bready body). Some very light notes of a tangerine sweetness are upfront as well, with these fading relatively quickly as the taste advances. While these flavors of tangerine diminish the grapefruit hop flavors ever so slightly does as well but is replaced with a blend of grassy and pine hop tastes. This mix of lightly bready and caramel with a mix of grapefruit, pine and grassy hop leave a somewhat bitter and dry flavor to be left on the tongue.

Mouthfeel- For a 4.7 % abv brew the body is on the slightly thicker side with a carbonation level that is slightly below average. The thicker body really accentuated the hop tastes nicely, but with the lack of a body to back it up, it was almost too much for the brew, especially since the carbonation was on the lower side.

Overall – This is one nice low alcohol IPA. Its not perfect, but this is a difficult brew to build and balance that hop and body properly while still keeping the IPA hop character, but yet still keeping it sessionalbe. Founders dose a pretty good job.

The balance of "India" meets the drinkability of "Pale" in a beer that the British would argue is not a session ale because of its greater-than-4% alcohol. But make no mistake about it: I could session the hell out if this beer!

Like many a pale ale or IPA, the beer pours the common mid-amber color, but however has exceptional clarity like that of pale. A fluffed white head springs from the beer beneath and caps the beer with a light and airy appearance. It's certainly a charming little ale.

All Day is all IPA in aroma. Hops abound with the zesty scent of fresh grapefruit oils, tangerines, apricots, mangoes, and pineapple. Its juicy citrus and tropical blend seems sun kisses by the sweet honey scent of caramel malts. While the malt influence informs the hops, it does nothing to rival them- allowing the nose to become a true showcase for American hop aroma.

The same racy hop character that's expressed in the nose also come to life in taste in much the same bright character. Although starting off with supple caramel taste, the malts soon turn "graham cracker" dry before introducing vibrant hop taste. All of the citrus and tropical goodness in aromas seem to pop on the tongue with light acidity and clean bitterness to close its taste. Lightly resinous and a quick procession across the palate seems to usher in a highly refreshing, cleanness and lightness in taste.

Likewise, the beer springs off of the tongue as the carbonation lifts the beer and thwart into dry textures and effortless drinkability. The beer prefers dryness from shortly after its early palate until its snappy finish. Light warmth and grain textures signal closure far sooner than it should.

Where the beer prefers a straight-forward taste of hop dominance over any malt balances, ester complexity, spice notes, or variations in grain caramelization- it does so brilliantly and confidently. It's a beer that draws the bottom of the glass far too soon and proves the notion that you can't have just one. I can drink this all day long!

Lots of hoppy character. A little unbalanced on the bitterness end (even for an IPA) but the spicyness helps. Low ABV makes this a sessionable beer. Good citrus and piney notes to the nose. Clear golden color. Not my favorite IPA but this is a good one and worth a try.

AP: pours a golden yellow with great clarity, eggshell white head.

AR: Grassy and earthy with slight citrus notes.

TS: Very balanced, lightly bodied, freshly cut grass, lemon.

MF: Decent mouthfeel, above average carbonation.

OV: A good example of the style, packing the great flavors of a Founders IPA into a sessionable beer.

On-tap at Slater's 50/50 (Liberty Station). What's Founders doing in San Diego? On to the beer:

All day IPA indeed. This beer is an orangish yellow colored beer, showing very good head retention and lace. The nose is a powerful one, dry yet full of hops. Clean, crisp citrus and pine in this one. And the taste goes along that way as well. What makes this fun to drink is besides having a relatively low ABV, is that is really does tastes like a very good, lower gravity IPA, and not to be confused with a pale ale. This is recommended for sure, especially during the lunch hour.

On Tap at South Philly Tap Room

A- All day comes out a medium bronze with some faded penny shades as well. A stealth pour produced little more than a half inch of loose white foam, no lacing.

S- A small amount of smell for a small beer. Some bittering aroma type blends of hop variety with a light biscuit malt base in the back. Some piney scent with pale malt with warming.

T- A very simple beer with hops on top of malt, that's what counts!! Both are fairly light with everything pretty even. Some piney bits towards the end. I would love getting this stuff fresh, it's pretty much toast now.

M- Very light, crisp and somewhat bitter, in fact this is more bitter than alot of so called bitters out there. Carbed up very nice and not too much for the light body.

D- I could drink a six of this real quick, but would bore of it rather quick, especially at this age. The amount of bitterness is light enough that drinking six would not burn out the palate though. A great session beer.

5/18/2012 and 5/20/2012

On tap at URGE.

A: Dark yellow with a white frothy head. Poured nearly to the top of the glass so not much head action.

S: Floral with mild orange and grapefruit aromatics. Restrained hop profile. Some biscuity malt. Light but bright.

T: Grassy and clean with light orange and grapefruit rind notes. Bread is faint and biscuity with cracker notes. Smooth lower moderate bitterness and dry.

M: Upper light body with upper medium carbonation.

Overall: Very light and pretty simple, but very drinkable and quite enjoyable on this warm day. I'm glad I came back to try this again as I could hardly taste it after drinking a couple Double IPAs on Friday night. Though, All Day Pale Ale would be a more fitting name for this beer.

Served on tap at Founders.

A: Pour was fairly translucent copper with a thin white fuzzy head that broke down to splotches and a thin film.

S: Earthy hops, flower, pine, malt, grains, and citrus scents.

T: A nice balanced drink that has some juicy citrus sweetness to it, finishing with nice bitter hops without getting out of hand. A nice flavor complex of spice, hops, malt, and citrus.

M: Massively refreshing and easy to drink. Lighter body with complex warming and aftertastes.

Clear crimson body with very slight golden hue with a somewhat thin white head with little lacing. Floral, citrus (orange and pineapple) and pine aroma. Flavor is a touch tangy with mild malt presence with more of the same from the aroma in the flavor with the floral hops coming across more grassy. Lighter side of medium body and moderate carbonation. Overall the hop profile is complex which is accentuated by the mild malt presence.

A stunning amount of flavour for the 4% ABV listed on the chalk board at the pub attached to the brewery.

Bright golden colour with limited head and no lacing. Not a tremendous amount of body, but enough for mouthfeel to remain pleasant. An awesome "west coast" hop aroma with brilliant citrus notes. The flavour is heavily grapefruit oriented and truly delicious. A lingering bitter aftertaste completes this very tasty beer.

Definitely a stellar "session" ale!

On tap at the brewery

A- Clear golden pour with a finger of white head. Lacing is great.

S- Grapefruit, pineapple, lemon and mandarin oranges. Can't believe how hop forward it is without being overly strong.

T- Grapefruit, mandarin, mango and strawberry. Just wonderful all around.

M- Light and refreshing, great carbonation, exactly what you need in a ipa.

O- How do you make a hop bomb without killing your tastebuds? I don't know but Founders does.

A sessionable-IPA? Isn’t that a contradiction in terms? Whatever the case this one works on its own right as an enjoyable, dare I say refreshing brew.

It pours a light golden color. Aroma is crisp, sharp and hoppy. Smells good. Tasty, too, with a very clear, very clean flavor of citrus-grassy hops and a sharp bitterness on the finish. I’d have another. With it’s low ABV I’d have a couple! Fantastic brew. I really enjoyed it.

Pours a nice gold, hazy orange hue with a 2nice finger initial that settles to a full silky lacing that coats the glass. When I inhale this beer, I get a full blast of grapefruit, pineapple, mango, more citrus, hops and some underlying malt. This is a really nice tasting brew and could easily become my 'everyday' beer if I had one! Right upfront I taste citrus (pineapple, grapefruit, some tropical fruit, and either apple, or watermelon); hops (not overpowering, actually blended perfectly), some pine, and a slightly herby flavor that gives way to short ending of toasted malts and fresh grass, a little dryness to at the end. Very well balanced beer, as always from Founders never disappointed. Alcohol is well hidden, has a nice medium mouthfeel with a quick crisp, dry finish that leaves your pallet wanting more!

Cheers!

Poured a nice, a clear orange amber with a light white head.

The smell was light and floral, light bit of grassy hops.

The flavor is mild, a touch of light caramel bready malt and a bit of light pine and citrus hops, flavors are clean and balanced but very underwhelming.

The mouthfeel is a touch thin, even for such a low ABV beer.

There really aren't any flaws here, its just very underwhelming, I was expecting more of a dry hopped prescence. Should be Blah day IPA.

Tap at Macs Steel Creek. Slightly orangey gold pour. Layer of white.

Aroma, nicely piney. Very faint citrus.

Taste, piney again. Much more citrus though, lemon zest. A faint bread/malt body peaks through. Bitter lingers a little, but nicely.

Pretty light bodied, but drinks damn near like water. Probably a bit thin, but for a session ale, all right. Better than session ale from Full sail by a long shot. For obvious reasons, pretty tame though.

Served from tap into a sampler tumbler. Poured a golden yellow-orange with a minimal pure white head. Maintained nice lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, pine, pine hop, and citrus. The flavor was of sweet malt, pine, pine resin, wood, and citrus. It had a light feel on the palate with mild carbonation. Overall this was a pretty good brew. Sometimes beer names don’t make any sense to me, but this one made perfect sense upon trying it. I had heard from another guy who had tried it the night before and raved about how good it was. I just kind of nodded my head and told him that was cool. Not really expecting much I brought it to my nose to find a very pleasant aroma going on here. Everything in it was very pronounced and was quite intriguing. Upon taking a sip I realized why Founders named it this. The flavors were all really nice and pleasant, but they were quite light which made this a beer that one could *gasp* drink all day. Really well done brew from Founders this time around as I would be more than happy to stock up on this to drink around the pool during the summer. I suggest you get this on your palate soon if you have not already.

On-tap at Binny's South Loop, poured into a pint glass.

A- Pours a clear deep golden color with a thin layer of frothy white head.

S- Citrusy hops, some grass and dandelion, a bit of pine, lots of grainy maltx.

T- Big malts, sweet with some caramel and toffee, hops provide a bitter finish with leaves and grass, some citrus. The flavor is good but not that intense, which I guess is fine for a session beer.

M- Medium-bodied, good carbonation, dry finish.

O- A solid session beer, probably just the thing for sitting at home and watching some TV with or for taking out in a cooler, the flavor isn't bad, but I think for Founders it's maybe a bit plain, I feel like a lot of reviewers who are talking about explosive hop flavor and awarding lots of perfect scores must be talking about a different beer.

This one poured out as a nice looking clear golden yellow color with a foamy white head on top. The smell of the beer gives off some really nice hoppy citrus aromas. The taste of the beer was citrusy and bitter but not overwhelming at all. The mouthfeel was light and rather refreshing, definitely a session beer for sure. Overall this beer is one that you could drink several of and not get too filled up from it. It's a good brew sure to please many people.

Overall a decent IPA but not the best, if it was anymore bitter it should be classified as a ESB. It was semi sweet and had a great taste. I'm a big fan of IPAs but there are better ones out there, if this was conditioned a little longer it could definitely be a better beer.

As its called this is a great IPA to enjoy all day. It has the hops to keep an IPA lover satisfied, but is easy on the palate and easy for any beer lover to drink.

A- Light, clear amber in color with nice white head

S-Mild but notable hop aroma with sweet citrus overtones and hint of toffee makes for an enjoyable aroma

T-Mild compared to most IPA's but the hops are present yet sweet and leaves a sweet hop aroma in the mouth

M-Nothing overpowering, goes down easily with a sweet flowery taste

O-Great IPA if you're looking for an easy to handle IPA or just getting use to the power of hops. I'm lucky to have Founders in my backyard and recommend this to any visitor.

On tap at CK. I was originally served 10K IPA when I ordered this. Didn't take long to figure out something wasn't quite right.

Light copper color with a fluffy white head. Thick rings of lacing. Strong pine and mild citrus nose with a strong biscuit and bread malt graininess. Robust biscuit malt body with grass and pine bitterness domianting throughout. Not as much citrus as the aroma, other than some light rind makes this is a little disappointgly bland; dry, earthy and bitter. Medium body with full carbonation. Nice for 4.7% but probably not something I'll seek out when it's packaged.

On-tap at the pub on 7/9.

A: Light orangish yellow. A nice finger and a half of off white head appeared and left nice, sticky lace.

A: Surprisingly strong notes of citrus and pine. Great orange, pineapple, and pine sap notes, with hints of grain from the base malt.

T: Again the hops shine, but there is enough of a malt presence to give it some balance. Lots of flavor for such a light brew. Notes of citrus and pine, with absolutley no hint of the ABV.

M: On the lighter side of medium. Good levels of carbonation.

O: I really enjoyed this brew. Great flavor, low ABV, and a beer that I could drink quite a few of. I would love to have this fresh on a hot summer day. Just what the doctor ordered. Skal.

A - Yellow/amber colored beer with a mild amount of head, lacing, and spots. Not the best looking IPA in the world, but at least it's not ugly.

S - Pine, citrus, some underlying malts. Actually has a nice bit of aroma for something with this low ABV.

T - Taste is pretty nice as well, with good citrus and some resiny pine on top of a malt backbone. Nice hops, with a bittering dry finish.

M - Lighter side of medium with some tongue-poking carbonation, gives it more of an edge.

O - Surprising amount of heft and flavor for a beer with this ABV, great session beer that would go well with food.

A - The beer is a golden-orange/yellow color with a finger of white head. The head fades fairly quickly leaving behind some light lacing.

S - The aroma is a mix of some sweet malt and some piney hops. There is also some grapefruit aromas mixed in as well.

T - Starts off with a mix of piney hops and some bitterness with a bit of sweet malt in the background. Through the middle, some stronger grapefruit hops and some more bitterness come through. The finish is a mix of hops and bitterness with a touch of sweet malt that lingers.

M - Medium-light bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels very smooth and crisp. The beer also feels fairly dry, especially with the bitterness as the finish.

D - Extremely drinkable. Very interesting IPA with as much flavor as it has with the rather low abv level. It is very flavorful and does not sacrifice flavor.

A- Clear amber with slight carbonation. No lacing or head really, with the exception of a ring of carbonation on the inner wall of the glass.

S- Pine and more pine. Very resinous.

T- Pine and slight citrus. Not a trace of malt. Slight skunk character in the hops. Substantial IBUs. Leaning towards DIPA, but a little light in both hops and definitely malts.

Tastes like a far bigger IPA than it is. I'd expect this to clock in between 6-7% if not knowing better.

M- Smooth and creamy. Medium body. Slightly dry and sticky finish. Carbonation is spot on.

O- Very drinkable. If you're looking for a hop forward IPA, this is the right drink.
