Live tasting 12 oz. bottle dated 1/23/12 into Duvel tulip...

Appearance; pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with a half finger of minimal straw colored head.. Retention is minimal, with head falling to nothing in a minute or so, lacing is also minimal, with tiny spots of lace...

Smell; is fairly unimpressive compared to some of the other IPA's I've had lately (Heady Topper, Just Outstading, etc) with subtle pine and resin notes...

Taste; a smooth resin character overtakes the palate with hints of pineapple and mellow notes of tropics (mango, tangerine) sneaking in...

Mouthfeel; is medium bodied, with medium carbonation... A gentle resinous finish lingers, with a mellow bitterness that is rather enjoyable hanging around to remind you that you are drinking an IPA...

Overall; I have yet to have a bad brew from Founders, 'nuff said!

I don't even know where to begin. You know how after you drink an amazing IPA you taste it at random times of the day in the future? Well this beer did that to me.

Juicy hops cones, ripe blood orange, grapefruit, mango. Long sweet and bitter finish. This beer has it all, and it officially in my top 3 DIPA along with Enjoy By and Sucks.

Poured Double Trouble in to a pint glass.

A - The hazy orange beer looks beautiful for a Imperial IPA. It has a small half finger of head with a aggressive pour.

S - First thing I get is grapefruit, some citrus, orange. The hops comes through with a little pine as well.

T - Wow, a lot going on here. It has some bitter hops, grapefruit again, malt sweetness in there to really balance this beer beautifully. Obviously there is some strong hop character with pine. Very nicely done here.

M - This is where this beer shines, its nice and smooth with quite a bit of body to it. I would put it somewhere in the medium range, it just coats your mouth really nice for a IPA. Lovely stuff here my friend.

O - Just another solid offering from Founders. Enjoy! Cheers!
