SECOND TRIAL: Bottle from Breeze-Thru. This is a very nice fruit beer. Not something I'd want to drink on a regular basis, but definitely nice. It pours a nice rich red with very little head on it. The smell is fresh raspberries, as is the taste. There's not the same sourness that occurs in a lot of raspberry lambics (which makes sense because I'm pretty sure they don't spontaneously ferment this), but there is some nice, light tartness. The finish has a lingering fruitiness that makes this beer easy to sip away at. Despite this, I probably couldn't have more than one at a time (I don't think that finishing a six pack of these would sit well with my stomach). Overall a well done fruit beer that's perfect as an every-so-often brew.

On-tap at the tap room in Grand Rapids. This one is a dark ruby red colour with an off-white pink-tinged head of foam that held up pretty nicely. Aromas of artificial raspberries and booze as well as some earthy/musty hints way in the background. Taste is cookie malts with a nice boozy raspberry syrup sort of taste. Drinkability is good, although the mouthfeel is a little coating and overcarbonated. A decent enough, higher abv fruit beer. Scarily many of the regulars were mixing this in half and halfs with the breakfast stout, imperial stout, and even devil dancer!

12 oz bottle pours a pinkish-red color with a small white head that doesn't last long, leaves some lacing in my glass. Fruity raspberry kool-aid aromas, sweet, tart and sour raspberry flavors. Medium bodied with a spritzy, seltzer like mouthfeel, finishes sour. Unique and flavorful, gets even better as it warms.

A: Attractive strawberry/raspberry juice color with some chill haze to it. A few streams of bubbles meander to the top of the glass from the bottom. Head is very minimal with a simple film of off white bubbles resting on top.
S: Raspberries, vinous qualities, lemonade and cherries in the high notes.
T: Starts off a little perfumy with a good amount of raspberry flavor. Theres no real surprise what this beer was made with, but the raspberry flavor is a bit on the fake side even if its not. Tastes like some seeds made it into the beer, has that earthy pungent flavor. Good amount of beet and cane sugar leaves some residual syrup in the mouth. Finishes really basic opposed to tart which surprised me.
M: Fairly thin mouthfeel with a soft texture.
D: I was under whelmed by this beer. I could have used more snap as it was fairly complacent and not too memorable.

Appearance: ruby-purple pour with a bit of pink head.
Smell: Aroma of thin raspberries, bit of sweetness
Taste: Raspberries, similar to the aroma. Very sweet, with a bit of sour mixed in for good measure.
Mouthfeel: A bit thin
Drinkability: Fun to try, not sure why one would ever want a second helping.
*NB: A bit watery, stick with blushing monk. However, it does come through that they used real raspberries, which tend to be quite expensive, as opposed to artificial flavor and corn syrup.

I bought this beer because I was interested in comparing this to Dogfish's Fort and, of course, I enjoy many of Founder's beers. Upon popping the bottle cap, I immediately smelled a rasberry field which was very pleasant. Upon pouring the beer, I noticed the deep rasberry hue. It was very heady, which lead me to believe that it was getting a little old. Mind you, I only bought a bottle from the store and it doesn't have the born on date on the bottle, so I have no idea if it's getting up there in months. The smell was very rasberry and also a little sharp. My first taste was again very heady and somewhat tangy. I didn't get a lot of hops out of this beer and to me it was somewhat wit-like because it had a dryness to it. Predominant taste was rasberries. I also paired it with Ceviche which wasn't a bad pairing. Overall, it wasn't really balanced, it was very heady to the last drop and I'm still tasting it hours later. I may try this again because I have a feeling the beer was a little old and it should have been colder.

Pours out a reddish amber with one finger of white suds and slight lacing.
Smell is raspberry. Lots of Raspberry. Hiding behind that is some sugar and malt with a slight yeast burn to the nose.
Taste is very very berry. This is like a sodapop. Not really sour but as it leaves the mouth you feel a dry sourness. I like this beer but I am not too much up on fruit beers that are sweet.
Mouthfeel is sweet at first then a dry and dirty flavor comes through. Like a sweet tart after it has dissapeared from the mouth. A sugary stickiness is left.
Drinkability depends on if you like this sort of drink. I am not that keen on it but it is not a bad drink.

A- Pours a pinkish, red, brown color with a solid pink/white head.
S- Remember those raspberry candies your grandmother used to always have out...that.
T- Tart and semi-sweet, fresh raspberry and some mellow bitterness.
M- Bright like a lambic, but feels like an ale, slightly coating with a thin/medium body, good amount of carbonation.
D- I liked this one. Could i see myself drinking a 4 pack of this, no.

Pours a deep red with a quarter inch head that fades very quickly to a thin ring. The lacing that's left behind is thin and patchy.
Smell; is dominated by raspberries, but that shouldn't be to shocking since this is a raspberry beer. It's also tart, with some touches of cherries.
Taste; once again, dominated by raspberries, but it's not nearly as overpowering as I thought it would be. It starts out pretty sweet, but fades into a decent tartness. Otherwise there's not much else going on here.
Mouthfeel/Drinkability; mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with very low carbonation, and the drinkability is pretty good.
Fruit beers aren't really my thing, but this one is actually pretty decent. I wouldn't go out of my way to get any more, but I wouldn't turn one down eiher.

Bottled in Aug/Sep.
Appearance is 'pretty.' A lovely red/amber with a very white head. Great smell of raspberries. Taste is quite tart/sweet. A little extra malt may have balanced it out a bit. Lowers the drinkability for me.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass.
A: Slightly hazy rosey amber color with a light pink head that quickly dissipates to a ring with no lacing. A little sediment made it into the glass as well.
S: Relatively strong smell of fresh raspberries and a little grain. Slightly sour with a little alcohol punch.
T: Light body with a lot of carbonation. Very sweet up front with taste of slightly sour, fresh raspeberries. Surprisingly not much of an artificial taste. Strong malt body, however finish has a slightly grainy, cloying taste with a warming alcohol punch. I enjoyed this, but would like to try a fresher sample.

comes out of the bottle looking like red wine. no head. nice slightly hazy reddish brown. ok lacing. great raspberry smell. almost a burnt smell up front quickly rushed through with the raspberries.
very raspberry in the taste. a bit puckery, but it tastes like a small amount of hops are in there but the raspberry dominates. mouthfeel is crisp and clean. but mouthfeel is phlegmy and mucusy.

Received in trade with Potia99- thanks! Was sad to see this beer retired in favor of Cerise... I wonder how its holding up after a year or so...
A: pours a brilliant reddish pink with a nice bone white head. Leaves very sticky lacing in glass.
S: the raspberry hasn't faded as much as I may have expected. The fruit character is pretty much all I get on the nose with some subtle bready malts coming through on the end
T: the raspberries taste much tarter than the nose would suggest. Flavor no longer lives up to the aroma as I recall from previous tastings of this beer. The mid palate has kind of a funky sourness which seems to be a result of the age on this beer. There is nothing bad or offensive in the flavor, but it seems that this beer has lost the wow factor it once had.
MF: lighter carbonation than I'm used to with fruited beers with a medium body
D: This beer is a nice refreshing fruit beer. I enjoy fruit beers when they are done well, and this is an example of one. I find Rubaeus to be much better than Cerise and wish Founders would brew this one again. It seems to have held up pretty well with age considering its style.

A- Hazy red-pink body with a short-lived white head on top. Not much lacing if at all.
S- Candied raspberries. Like the smell a lot.
T- Raspberry soda pop! Very different. Somewhat tart. Flavor shows some age/oxidation but still drinkable.
M- Medium mouthfeel. Carbonation is a little low due to age.
D/O- Held up pretty well. Would drink again but don't know how much longer this will still taste good. Per usual, I'm bless I live so close to new Glarus as no other fruit beers come close. Thanks for the cellar save TATURBO.

This beer pours out purple with a huge pink head. The aroma is real raspberries with toasted malt, and a little distracting sourness. The flavor is a wheat beer body with lots of raspberries. The berries taste good, the right combination of tart and sweet. I did not like the yeast in this beer. It has a sour taste that's noticable even with all the raspberries. Mouthfeel is medium. I don't think I could drink many of these in a session. Better than most fruit beers, but nothing extraordinary.

Clear, rosy red in hue with a magenta tint, the liquid looks more like wine then beer. The head was white-pink in color, at the apex the foam was over three fingers in height. The bubbles quickly faded to a chunky cap; at least I was now able to pour the remainder of the beer in my glass. The subsequent lacing was very spotty and hardly noteworthy. Overall, this is an attractive looking beverage.
The nose smells akin to raspberry pie. The fruitiness is fresh and alive. I am very impressed. The maltiness is secondary, it is lightly bready. There really isnt much development beyond that, which is to be expected. Moderate potency, I wish it was chattier. Still, the aromas are inviting.
The palate comes across more beer-like then the nose led on. The fruit is turned down, or maybe I should say, balanced with the malt. Upfront are fresh raspberries, which linger into the middle. At this point the bready malt develops and by the finish the malt is the focal point. Tart at times, it never becomes sugary sweet, in other words, there is a natural fruit arc to the palate. In the realm of raspberries the flavors are well-developed. I cant detect the alcohol. It tastes like a malty wine cooler well, I mean, this is clearly a beer; it just happens to be a light, fruity beer. The flavors are lively enough to keep my interest, much like Lindeman's Framboise or New Glarus Raspberry does from time to time. I must note, I think both of those beers are much better then this one.
Medium-light in body, the carbonation is very active and scrubbing. I like the refreshing nature of the mouthfeel. The fruitiness is not allowed to loiter, which I think is a good thing for this beer.
This beer is drinkable but I am not overly impressed. I mean, it is what it is. Sure, it is a tasty fruity beer. Hell, it is even a fruit beer with balls. I could see this beer working in the right circumstances. I bet this would kick ass with a big green salad with a fruity vinaigrette dressing. Oh yeah! When all is said and done, this is a tasty beer but it just doesnt wow me. I would like the raspberries to be richer I like the fact the malt is accounted for however. Close. Very close to greatness. This sample was provided by BuckeyeNation. Thank you very much!

A beautiful deep rusty red, with a huge foamy head. Nose is super-sweet rasberry. Taste is very tart at first, giving way to a heavily carbonated sweet rasberry flavor, complete with seeds. A very interesting beer (although not very beer-like). Perhaps too sugary-sweet to drink too many in one sitting. It's reminiscent of a sparkling rasberry juice. Alcohol is very well hidden, it's deceptive.

Pours a slightly hazy reddish color, with an interesting light pink foamy head. The head disappears very quick. Raspberry, fruity, and winey aroma. Slightly tart and sweet raspberry flavor. Finishes a bit harsh, as if something is not quite right. It became better as it warmed slightly. Not too sweet, might use a bit of sourness. Light body, but not overly carbonated. Interesting, and refreshing.

Pours like carbonated Kool-Aid. Foggy red, and absolutely no head. Weird. Nose is raspberry toned for sure and not much else. Flavor is overpowering raspberries. In your face, in your mouth, and up in everything else it can get into. Very tangy and distinct. Feel has a lot of carbonation and a decent liquid feel, but it leaves a real sticky feel in the mouth that seems odd. This is a decently well made beer that goes way overboard with the raspberries. It is just too much and creates a one dimensional experience.

Pours pinkish red with a thin pink head that becomes a white creamy cover leaving some trailing lace sliding down the glass.
The smell is of raspberries - real - not "artificial syrup" as many Am. fruit beers have. There is a tartness/sourness, caramelish maltiness and a touch of earthy bitterness. It smells like a nice beer with fresh raspberries.
The taste is of raspberries - again, real - not the artificial syrup-like fruitiness - with light tart/sour and a bitterish dryness in the finish. There's a slight alcohol warmth.
It is on the fuller side of light-bodied. The carbonation is light to begin with but hits towards mild/moderate as it progresses.
It's no "lambic", IMO, but better than the typical syrupy American fruit wheat beers. It comes in a four-pack at the same price as six-packs of other styles from this brewery. While it didn't particularly excite me, it's nice that it held it's true fruitiness.

From deejaydan and the B&G BiF. Thank you.
Dark purply red, with a huge pale purple head that fell to a 1/4 inch table of medium-bubbled foam. Nose is dominated by fruit reminding me of a frambose lambic without any funkiness. Taste is raspberries, slightly watery, with a touch of berry seed flavor in the finish. Mouthfeel was a thin. There isn't much balance to this beer. The alcohol is not present in the taste or mouthfeel. Easy to drink, but one would be enough. Non-beer drinkers might enjoy trying this.

Poured from 12 oz. into Ommegang chalice...
Pours like rose champagne with pink/amber body, tight, moderate mauve head and ample carbonation.
Bountiful raspberry, yeasty scent with malt hint - very fruity.
Mild, syrupy-sweet with essence of raspberries, yeast and carbonation. Pleasant yet slightly artificial.
Tight, puckering mouthfeel with tingle from carbonation. A little shallow with tart finish.
This is enjoybale but I wouldn't hit more than one at a sitting 'cause of the syrupness.
