Each fall, our brewhouse looks more like a greenhouse as thousands of pounds of wet hop cones arrive within hours of being picked by some of our favorite local hop growers. Acting quickly, we then load up these wet hops into what will become Harvest Ale – an impossibly aromatic and bright IPA bursting with fresh pine, melon and citrus notes. Our ode to the beauty that is the wet, American hop.

12 oz. bottle into glass pint.
40°F
$1.99 / ea.
A: Bright amber to orange body topped with one finger of loose white head that quickly dissipates leaving light foamy lace and a thin bubbly cover. Really expected more lacing and cover out of this one.
S: Strong citrus aroma over a subdued caramel backbone. Simple, but nicely balanced aroma.
T: Citrus up front, caramel malt in the middle and slight bitterness at the end. Again, simple but balanced, and very enjoyable from beginning to end. Noticeable aftertaste, but pleasant.
M: Light body with heavy carbonation. Strong carbonic bite, and distinct bitter tightening of the tongue.
D: Very sessionable selection. Great flavor, light, crisp body, and extremely versatile. Casual beer drinkers may find this on a bit too hopped up for an APA, but the citrus character should make the transition fairly easy.
O: Nice beer. Pretty standard fare for Founders.

On tap, Mothership Series #24.
Pretty good. It's got a nice balance of hop Carmel and honeydew melon. Not super tasty, bright, vibrant honey dew melon. The more earthy, not quite bursting with flavor melon flavor. Subdued, but in a way that works well for this beer. Glad I got to try it.

Pours amber with a 1.5" white head, which lasts. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is floral, citrus, pine.
Taste is orange, papaya, light grapefruit, pine.
Medium body, moderate carbonation. Dry, resinous finish.
This is another outstanding IPA from Founder's.
