Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tulip glass.

A: Clear, medium amber color with less than one finger of diminishing custard-tinted foam head made up of particularly loose bubbles. Scant lacing remains on the glass.

S: Extremely herbaceous, with heaps of thyme, fresh hemp, and unusually dark grapefruit citrus. A heavy suggestion of sweetness represents a malt contribution that is fairly character-less. Some funky jungle-temperature durian hangs out about three layers down, and a contrasting thread of cold fried chicken is elusive. No alcohol is detected.

T: Begins very sweet, with acidic dark citrus and other fruit assaulting the palate. Acidity is intense, though more felt than tasted. As acidity recedes some savory herbaceous flavors remain into the middle, transitioning to floral perfume aromatics as astringency and bitterness begin to surge. Pure bitterness continues to blanket the palate during the finish, with more savory herbs featuring some onion qualities. Alcohol seems to contribute some volatility to the other qualities, but doesn't render the beer boozy.

M: Thick viscosity, massive acidity scorches the palate early then turns sticky and astringent, with moderate carbonation.

D/O: Palate punishing in taste and, particularly, in texture, this beer takes no prisoners and apologizes to no one. Even the Stone gargoyle might decry this a drain-pour, yet it is probably the perfect concoction to scratch the itch possessed by a few jaded beer devotees. The alcohol is potent in its physiological effect, producing a more intoxicating effect than even a 12% monster should. A must-try, but be warned that 12 oz. is probably too much for a mere mortal to stomach.
