Nice amber / copper color with decent head and mild to moderate carbonation. Mild fruity and caramel aroma. Bitter metallic and candy notes with a hint of caramel nuttiness and sweet alcohol in the background. It kind of falls flat a bit. Finishes with a bit more alcohol and floral notes.

12 oz bottle was poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: This beer poured a one finger head that has reduced and left some nice lacing on the glass and a thin layer of foam. It is a crimson color with great clarity and bubbles coming up through the glass. Super lacing on the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: sweet caramel and bready malts followed by some mild hop aromas.

Taste: bready and grainy malts, caramel sweetness, and mild hop bitterness in the end.

Mouthfeel: a bit chewy, medium carbonation, medium bodied, smooth, and very drinkable.

Overall: I have loved this beer for years and so happy to have drank another again. Maestro, one more beer please.

This pours a dark copper amber color with a great foam. Its loaded with a toasted nutty flavor and strong hints of caramel. Its light on the hops, which makes it very drinkable and balanced.

A: Pours a slightly hazy dark copper in color with some reddish hints when held up to the light and moderate amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a half finger tall light beige head that slowly reduces to a thin film covering the majority of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of caramel malts with just a hint of sweetness.

T: Like the smell, the taste of this beer is primarily that of caramel malts with just a light amount of sweetness.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth.

O: Not the most interesting beer due to the single dimension to the flavor and aroma - don't get me wrong in that I like the caramel malts but I wish there was a little something else to add some layers or complexity. Easy to drink.

Poured from 12oz bottle into NB Globe glass.
Pours a deep copper color with some white head. Smells of typical upstate NY (saranac) and VT (long trail/otter creek) sweet malts. Not much hop aroma, but didnt expect it either. Its flavor is your typical altbier sweetish malts, lots of backbone and body though. Its a very drinkable brew, some slight hops notes, but would like a bit more hops...I guess that would just be a Pale Ale then huh...

A - dark caramel copper with a thin lacing of off white head that fades quickly

S - sweet caramel with an underlying grainy aroma

T - caramel, grainy, mild hop bitterness

M - medium bodied, smooth, sticky, crisp

This is a simplistic beer. It's caramel sweetness throughout. It's easy to tip back a lot of these but it gets boring after just a few. I'll pass in the future.

I give this beer anywhere from a 3.5 to a 4. Why? Well, when compared to some of the great beers that are out there, on a relative basis this one isnt even in the conversation. But when you categorize it correctly for what it is, it really is a solid beer. The name tells you exactly what you are dealing with...Copper means a balance of red and brown ales. Personally, I have always had some affection for red ales, and I absolutely love browns. So this is a happy marriage of the two. Light enough that isnt doesnt way you down like Thanksgiving dinner, but strong enough that you know you should clear your schedule for the night. Its versality makes it a good beer year round, though I still see it proving to be a better fall and winter style. But spring works too, and even enjoying it around an outside fire during the cooler summer nights works for me.

This beer is a good brown and a good red mix. Otter Creek is a good maker of beer, and this selection is a solid offering.

A: The beer is slightly hazy reddish copper in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high light beige head that died down but consistently left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: There are light aromas of caramel malts in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has flavors of caramel malts and a bit of sweetness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and rather smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is easy to drink because it’s relatively light-bodied and there’s only a little bit of sweetness. However, the taste is very one-dimensional and lacks flavors of other types of malts and hops.

12oz bottle into pint glass.

A - Dark copper amber with a small white head.

S - Sweet caramel malt. Roasty and woody with a slight aroma of floral hops.

T - Has a great toasted nutty flavor, with hints of caramel and bready malts. A nice light hop bitterness lends balance. Finish is bready and grainy.

M - Smooth, soft, medium bodied. Decent carbonation.

O - Pretty good altbier. A very drinkable and balanced brew.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. Sampled on April 23, 2012. It pours a hazy dark amber with a moderate beige head that diminishes. It leaves plenty of clinging lacing along the way. The aroma is of sweet toffee malts and grains. The hop note is subtle to non-existent. The body falls into the medium range and is fairly durable. The taste is emboldened with sweet toffee malts with a relatively clean hop finish. This is not a bad beer.

Into a pint glass (later tried with a stange, nothing changed):

A: clear red/amber slightly copper colored body with a finger`s worth of foamy white head. There was some light speckled yet spotty lacing that trickled down the sides of the glass. There is not any surfacing carbonation.

S: slightly malty, but mainly roasty nuttiness. Some breadiness comes out in the smell.

T: mainly the roasted nuttiness. Some caramel comes out in the taste.

M: medium with a light carbonation profile. It leaves a slightly dry feel to my mouth.

O: this is not a bad beer, very similar to an American Brown, so I should really like it. However, I will say I think I would only have this again preferably on tap.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pilsener- pours a clear reddish amber color with a 1.5 finger head, decent lacing and retention.

Smell is very malty- not overly powerful but some good bready malt. Smells almost a bit wheaty but that's faint.

Taste is fine- I've never had an altbier so I'm not sure what to compare this with; however, I've had many a german lager (or ale) that has a more complex malt profile than this. Some nice bready malt, a little carmel, a touch of yeast. Fine- unexciting.

Mouthfeel is fine- medium light body with light carbonation. It just needs more SOMETHING. Highly quaffable. Got this in a 12-sampler- the Spring Bock is the best. Won't get this one again.

A - Poured with a copper body and a creamy white, two finger head...the head slowly receded to a full cap and left nice lacing

S - Toasted malt, grainy, bready, a touch of caramel, slight hops

T - The flavors don't differ much from the nose...there is a lot of toasted, not roasted, malts which are present a big graininess and a touch of breadiness...the bready flavors actually pair well with the caramel and they pair together to make a buttered bread flavor...the hops, minimal again, slowly creep in towards the end, but they don't make a big appearance

M - Medium bodied...smooth, a big metallic twang, sweet

O - Just as their other beers, this one didn't wow me nor did it disappoint me...a nice representation of the style with low hop bitterness and not over-the-top sweetness

Served in a FFF snifter.

A: Yep.... copper is pretty much damn near perfect. The head on this one is about 1.5 fingers and the color is off-white and the texture is marshmallowy.

S: Not much on the nose, but I did get a bit of yeast and malt. Not much sugar.... which is a good thing.

T: Smooth, yeasty, and bready, but with sort of a thin quality overall. Not bad, but nothing amazing.

M: Carbonated enough for my standards, with a mildly bitterness and ridiculous lacing.

O: This was nice, drinkable, but ultimately forgettable.

This brew pours a beautiful dark copper color with a small head which quickly dissapates and minimal lacing. Not much carbonation.

The smell is heavy on malts and spice, can't tell which type, possibly toffee in there as well.

The mouthfeel is light and bready, slightly chewy.

The taste is very malt heavy, once the brew warms up a little a spice of some type, possibly cinnnamon, can be tasted along with toffee and some toasted grains. The lable promised some hops on the back end but I did not taste any.

This brew is very malty sweet and a little spicy. If you like heavy malts with some spice you will probably like this brew. However I would have liked to taste something besides spice and some toffee mixed in with the malts. I have had better beers from Otter Creek.

Poured from a bottle into pint glass

Appearance - pours a nice copper color (as the name implies). Very little head on this with little or no lacing though.

Smell - Smells of sweetness of caramel and toffee first meet the nose. Then a bit of toasted malt.

Taste - Mainly a sweetness of caramel. Picking up a little bit of hop ( a small amount;hard to pin down exactly) flavor latter in the tasting experience mixed with some maltiness as well.

Mouthfeel - A good level of carbonation and a decent body.

Overall - A good beer. Nothing exceptional, but good for the everyday brew.

Bottle poured into a pint.

This beer pours a copper red/amber color. The head was big and fluffy white and lingered for quite a while. The beer had great lacing throughout the drinking process. The aroma was malty, metallic, and caramel-ish. The taste of the beer is mellow with a slight bitterness in the finish. The flavor is very smooth and slightly/iron like. The mouthfeel is good and dry, crisp and very light. I am no very familiar with Altbiers, so maybe this is everything one should be! I just don't know. I do think that this was a well crafted ale though, nothing spectacular, but very balanced and smooth.

A: Just slightly tawny, deep orange copper. Streams of tight bubbles rise to medium-size light tan head. Great retention & superb lacing.

S: Bread crust, toasty grain, nutty malts, & some malty sweetness. Pretty rich in the malt department, but not really getting much else. Super faint fruit esters & ghostly hint of floral hops.

T: Again – bread crust, toasty grain, & nutty malts. Also getting the malt sweetness up front & a very faint touch of roast on the back end. Not as rich as nose implied, but it does have alright depth. Dry and quite attenuated. This lets hops show reasonably strong. Earthy/woody, herbal, & floral up front, some spice comes in through the middle with a hint of mint, and the finish is back to earthy and woody. Slight softly astringent note. Hint of fruity esters.

M: less than medium body. Carbonation is matched, finely textured, and soft. Reasonably smooth, but it struggles to achieve that against dryness from attenuation & hops.

D: Definitely not a Sticke. Rather dry and toasty. Backed firmly by largely woody hops. Quite tasty, but lacking any significant umph to the malts and softness to the body that could really make carry it all and make this one shine. It is probably better with pub grub, but is pretty alright standing alone.

A: Pours out a somewhat hazy dark copper color topped by a white foamy head, lacing is nice.

S: Interesting, there really isn't any scent besides a light caramel and a general "freshness" to it.

T: Bitterness is present but not overpowering, malt comes though as a toasted biscuit flavor, hops are floral in nature.

M: High carbonation and a medium body, fairly standard and what I would have expected.

D: This beer is quite quaffable, a nice basic beer to keep on the short list.

Pours a deep copper color with a huge white head that slowly recedes and places much sticky lace on the sides of the glass. Smells quite malty with toffee and caramel being dominant in the nose. Bready with faint earthy hops round out the nose. Taste is toffee and caramel with earthy hops and hints of pine. Medium body with a spirited level of carbonation and a bubbly sweet mouthfeel. Decent brew that's easy to drink. Not really my favorite style, but glad to have tried it.

A nice copper ale. Color is a nice red and the smell is the best we have sampled in this type of beer.
The mouth feel was a little less that expected. lays in the mouth a little to long, but it is drinkable, not a killer.
This is a overall good beer we will not let the mouth feel stop us from drinking this. Will go nice with some ribs, pork of course.

Part of a sampler case picked up at my local distributor in Pottsville. First time trying this particular breweries product.

Poured very nice, coppery orange color with a nice foamy head.

Aroma of malt and little else

Taste was a little to the sweet side, very nice

Mouth was decent, not heavy, about what you would expect from an alt.

Really enjoyed the beer, at 5.4 would be a nice session beer.

Poured a 1.5" off-white head which floated a merengue for a while. Color in masstone looks more like a hazy burnt sienna than copper but when held to the light the copper came out. Not much smell, even after it warmed a little, just a little malt. Taste and body were surprisingly kind of watery, just a little malt again. There is a subtle bitter finish which persists. It's OK but not at all what I expected. Maybe it was just my sample.
