A - Looks like a perfectly normal stout to me. Nearly black with 2 fingers of bubbles that disappeared surprisingly fast (note to check glass next time)

S - I'm not great with stouts, but I didn't pick up much. Mostly the burnt coffee bitterness.

T - Follows the smell. Not really that impressive. Mostly bitterness without any nice flavors to take the edge off.

M - I thought it was pretty thin and unsubstantial.

O - Not sure if there was something wrong with this bottle or my palate has developed to favor the IPA's that I've been drinking for the past year. I've had some stouts that I loved (Founders), but this one falls flat for me.

12 oz bottle bored in to a tulip.

A-Nearly black with almost one finger of tan head after an aggressive pour.

S- Maple syrup and dark chocolate.

T- Very enjoyable. Flavor develops as it glides across the palate. This one doesn't smack you in the face with complexity, but is solid with milk and dark chocolate coming out the most.

M- Silky smooth and tingly.

O- This beer is solid, but not terrific. I wouldn't mind having another.

Bottle > Pint Glass
A - Pours a real nice dark deep brown, thick 2 finger khaki colored head, nice lacing.
S - Toasted oats, dark chocolate, light maple syrup, a hint of smoke, rich malts.
T - Very nice flavor, lots of smooth roasted coffee bean, some good smoke flavor, oats, chocolate.
M - Just right, some sweet malt feeling on your palate, well balanced and carbonated.
O - What a great stout, not high in ABV, but packed with flavor, love the roasted smoked flavor in this as well.

Chilled 12 oz. bottle into a 12 oz. snifter. Bottling date 12.13.12

Look- Deep brown, nearly opaque. Topped with a half-finger of beige foam that falls over the course of a few minutes. Good lacing.

Smell- Baker's chocolate, whole dark roast espresso beans, light sweetness. Very pleasant. Swirling brings out a stronger char aroma and a hint of acorn flour.

Taste- Follows the aroma, with a healthy dose of herbal bittering up front along with a hint of dried apricot. Roasted flavors take the upper hand shortly after the sip, coupled with a light sweetness. Overall impression of charred biscuit and chocolate-dipped espresso beans followed by cold brewed coffee.

Mouthfeel- Medium body, moderate carbonation. Doesn't quite have the heft or body I'd expect from an oatmeal stout, but it's not bad either. Clean, dry finish.

Overall- A very solid no-frills representation of the style that's just bold enough to keep things interesting. I'd pick this up once in a while if it was available in my area. Recommended.

Had this at Riley and Jakes's in Clinton, NJ. I was pleasantly surprised to find this wonderful tasting beer on tap here. The beer had a lovely balance tilted towards the sweet side; never bitter, beautiful amber color and every sip a pleasure Otter Creek brewery has some fine organic beers and this one is no exception. Having this beer on-tap certainly enhanced the taste, but I will try it in the bottle to see how it compares.

Riley and Jake's is a famiily restaurant with a typical American pub menu. The food is fine for this type of restaurant and the place gets quite busy on the weekends.

M- medium body and carbonation. Super creamy and smooth.

O- very good oatmeal stout. Pretty straight forward but very creamy with roast and sweetness.
