A-LeClerc supermarket near my place has a decent turnover of different beers the last few months, and this is one of the new arrivals. Best by Aug 5, 2011. Poured from stubby into snifter, golden-yellow and clear with decent little had, okay retention.
S-Not much there...faint malt.
T-Couldn't smell it, but there is a little rice taste, and the finish is slightly sweet with faint hops that could do a little more to even things out.
M-Light-bodied with right level of carbonation. Balance leans too far on the sweet side, with grains dominating, but nothing major.
O-Nothing special, but drinkable. Wouldn't seek it out but it's fun to try beer from new places.

De Hopt. En copa Teku. Jugando a Slay the Spire. No lleva nada de bourbon, aunque el nombre pueda sugerir lo contrario, pero es una lager bastante mas maltosa y corpulenta de lo habitual

Found this in stubbies at the Chinese supermarket in Paris. From the French DOM island (like Hawaii, not a TOM like Guam or Puerto Rico) in the Indian Ocean. Réunion was once called Île Bourbon, hence the name.
Darker, yellow-brown, like cider. White bubbles for about five seconds, then no head to speak of. Smells like rice, or perhaps rice vinegar or even saki.
Initially tastes bigger than it should, with a smooth mouthfeel. This certainly must be made with a signficant amount of rice, as toasted rice is the dominant 'malt' flavor. However, it does state on the bottle that it contains barley malt. Bitterness after the swallow, but really none to speak of beforehand. Overall, the rice, the late bitterness, and a very present alcohol content make this a little unbalanced.
This might be fine out of a cooler, washing down something from the grill with sand between your toes. Otherwise, just grab a Red Stripe unless you're actually in Réunion.

Beer bottle (33cl.), tasted in 2001.
Beer Bourbon, everyone here is still called the Dodo, in memory of his first name, the Dodo Pils. It was this blonde that you will be served anywhere. In the minds of many person in La Réunion, the Dodo is not just beer. It is also part of the heritage of the island.
Appearance : blond color, with white foam head.
Smell : neutral.
Taste and mouthfeel : no bitterness.
Drinkabiity : a not impressed beer in the style Pale lager. You must not drink too cold !
