12 oz. bottle, no apparent bottled on date present. Picked up a single of this after trying some at a friend's house. My first beer from Saugatuck Brewing Co., don't really know what to expect, & going in as unbiased as possible.

Poured into a Firestone Walker pint glass.

A - Pours a thick oily, opaque brownish black colored body, with two fingers of creamy mocha brown froth for a head. Big fluffy rings of mocha lacing on the glass.

S - Smell is enticing and inviting; warm silky milk chocolate, graham cracker malt presence, & a strawberry cream smell reminiscent to the smell of a strawberry oreo cookie. Smell is good, but isn't coming off as completely authentic. Not extracting any vanilla aromas from this one, really.

T - Bold, bitter coffee bean, dark chocolate, and perhaps some hop presence kicks things off. Strawberry flavor is present in the finish, but again, doesn't seem entirely authentic, and retains something of an artificial medicinal vibe to it. In this beer's defense, the bottle does note that it uses 'natural & artificial flavors with caramel color added'. Again, no real noticeable vanilla presence that I can find.

M - Feel is of resinous hop / coffee bean bitterness, with a creamy, medium bodied feel to the beer.

Overall, much better than I remember it being when I tried it a few weeks ago, very glad that I decided to give this beer another shot, although probably not a beer I would try again. A worthy attempt at creating a Neapolitan beer from Saugatuck Brewing Co., even if it doesn't entirely succeed 100%. I will be on the lookout for more from this brewery.
