Bunzfest2012: Make it so... Thanks Jeff for sharing!
Quick review from written notes, served in a mini-tulip glass.
Wax dipped 750, shared early in the day.
Reddish amber with brownish edges. Good clarity, thin wispy foam on the surface. Less head, as to be expected from a whiskey barreled beer. Color looks the part of a Scotch Ale.
Nice aromas of toffee, plum, dates, dried fruit and wood.
Flavors are malty and rich, vanilla and brown sugar from the barrel, also a light heat bite. Creamy and smooth with light carbonation. Really enjoyed this one, thanks again Jeff!

Poured into tulip.
A Crystal brown. Transparent. Thick brown head. Thick lacing remains down.
S Whow! Potent. Cherry. Grape.. Alcohol. Brown sugar. Malts. Caramel. Highlight of this beer.
T Interesting. There's a schism: get a big boozy alcohol and oak hit, but equaling strong is the the tangy fruit (cherry, grape, even a little kiwi) along with some chocolate and black pepper.
M Bready. Full. Has a boozy aftertaste. This lingers.
O This is a complex brew. Fruity, sweet, caremelly, chocolaty. However, the other side really turned me off. Way too boozy. The oak barreling didn't kill it, but it didn't make it either. Just too much booze.

750ml waxed bottle into a tulip glass - Vintage 2012
A: Pours a dark mahogany brown with a nice light brown head that fades to a ring and leaves a bit of lacing on the glass.
S: The nose is brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, and a touch of peat.
T: The taste is similar to the nose and tastes great. Loads of vanilla, brown sugar, toffee, and whiskey.
M: The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a little creamy. Not as creamy or as full of a body and I'd like from a Wee Heavy.
O: This is a tasty beverage and one I would love to have again and fresh. No infection in this bottle but it was kept in a fridge most of the time.

A -: Poured a dark crimson color with good carbonation leaving a moderate white foamy cap which quickly resedes leaving a light dusting of bubbles
S : Funk, stinging booze with bourbon, oak, caramel and char
T : First sip says yep "I'm funkdafied". Infection lurking in the background but its still buried by oak, char, caramel and bourbon. The finish is lingering, infection, sweetness and heat
M: Mediumt o full body, I felt it was a bit thin, perhaps overcarbed but this may be the underlying infection at work
O: Drinkable now but I can see this really taking a turn for the worse in the not so distant future. Another Minneapolis Town Hall Infection bomb. These guys really need to QC and clean up their act.

Big thanks to BA supercolter for sending this my way. 750 ml waxed dipped bottle served in a Half Acre snifter. 2012 Vintage.
A: Pours a dark sienna brown color with some ruby highlights. A thin tan head forms on the pour and leaves some splotchy lace behind.
S: Fruity with a sweet Jack Daniels backing. Peaty with a sweet toffee presence and some brown sugar as well.
T: Caramel goodness with a smokey and peaty underlay. Jack with some dark fruit flavors and a touch of toasted malts.
M: Meidum bodied with a medium carbonation level. Sweet finish with a nice drinkability.
O: The wasn't quite on the level of some of the other BA Scotch Ales, but it was a very nice beer and I'm glad we didn't have any issues of infection.

The beer appears a dark burgundy color with a small head. The aroma is fairly sweet, with some dark fruit presence along with a sturdy malt bill. A tad sweet. Notes of brown sugar and bourbon. Medium bodied with moderately low carbonation. Overall, this was decent.

Served in the Town Hall glass, a better beer but not a great beer than the others in this series. Beer is mostly clear, ruby red and looks good with a minimal lazy head of small bubbles, no lacing, no retention.
Aroma is malty and sweet with a nice booziness.
I liked this beer even though that doesn't make me popular with the in crowd, one of hte better from this series, a nice finish, sweet medium body mouthfeel and a minimal amount of oak on the finish. I don't know if I'd have it again but I did like it.

Notes taken from a bottleshare at the Phoenix Sun in NYC. Thanks kindly to beerness for the trade.
a - gorgeous ruby red with minimal to no head.
s - nice festive wee heavy. nutmeg and some cinnamon.
t - REALLY good. probably the best BA wee heavy i have had. nutmeg and spicing. good barrel elements and great sweetness.
m - soft and light, an easy drinker for such a seemingly big beer.
o - overall, blown away by this beer. FINALLY, a winner in the town hall BA series. nice sweetness and really great barrel integration. just an impressive beer and probably the only one of the series that i'd be on the look out for again.

Poured from a 750ml bottle into my Great Lakes tasting glass. It poured a deep ruby color with a thin frothy head to it. Nice lacing and great looking color.
The aroma shows a mix of dark fruits, cherry, caramel and oak. The bourbon is a little light and seems to just add more of a brown sugar sweetness to it. The dark fruits are good in it, but the malty sweetness mixed with the brown sugar of the bourbon just makes it feel cloyingly sweet. It just didn't seem to have anything to help balance it out at all.
The dark fruits show more in the taste. The bourbon barrel again though just seems to add a brown sugar sweetness along with a slight oak presence. Some cherry and caramel come out in the finish. The barrel flavors are just too light and the sweet, sugary flavors dominate too much.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, it wasn't that great of a beer. It had an overwhelming amount of sweetness from the malts and bourbon and didn't really have anything to help balance them all. Some balance and a little more of the barrel coming through would have gone a long way.

Lion stout tulip, out of the 2012 vintage 750ml.
A- Clean deep hued brownish burgundy. Great 2 finger off white head, which retains well on the surface of the glass with nice lacing down the sides.
S- Woody, whiskey soaked dark dried fruits, chocolate caramel cake. warming.
T- A bit tart almost like sour cherry, no noticeable smokey flavor, most of the malt has faded into this tart flavor. Hints of whiskey in the end. This might go sour. I am going to hold on to my others and see what happens.
M- A bit harsh, almost prickles the tongue. then the carbonation fades and the tartness draws up salivation. Not very smooth at all.
O- Intriguing to say the least. Im not sure if this will get better or worse with time. I liked it more fresh, without the tartness. Not bad but not the best town hall barrel aged beer.
