Somewhat tight, and tiny but mighty in that back corner of what is otherwise a wine and liquor store. A good selection of local (Old Burnside, Troutbrook, New England), regional (Atlantic Brewing, Allagash, Bar Harbor, Gearys, Smuttynose, Paper City, Magic Hat, Harpoon, Dogfish Head, Victory, Ipswich) and beyond (Stone, Rogue, Anderson Valley, Sierra) micros, and some most unusual imports and more. Sure, good micro representation but even better selections of those micro's specialty beers. Troutbrook Old Marley and Liberator, Magic Hat Thumbsucker, Harpoon 100 batch series, Ipswich 1084 barleywine, Allagash Quadrupel, and on and on.
Imports, Fantomes, Chouffes, A. Le Coq '99 & '00, a good couple of years of vintage Lee's, George Gales Conquest, Millenium & Old Ale, the new Lee's in Port, Sherry, Calvados & Scotch, Gouden Carolus Grand Cru, Uerige Sticke & Alt, Sinebrychoff. Good Belgians, English & German, and a bunch of meads.
Very nice. A most impressive beer store out there in the valley.

I have no idea how this place is getting such high ratings. The place is tiny and the beer section is similar in size to an average living room.
The service is lousy. I was approached by a younger gentleman who was only able to categorize beers by their color so he was basically worthless.
I attempted to special order a six pack of a local brewed beer that can be found in most liquor stores, but the manager was very hesitant because I wasn't purchasing the entire case. Nevertheless, he took down number and said he would place the order and give me a call...well, it's been several weeks and no phone call received so I'm assuming the order was never placed because the manager didn't want to stock the remaining 3 six packs.
The only place near Naugatuck that deserves an A+ rating is DeCicco's in Brewster. It's definitely worth the trip.

This place is a little out of the way for me, but I was in the area and decided to stop in. Odd that the fabled Mountview doesn't even have the name "Mountview" on its store frontage. Just "wine and liquour." Made me wonder if I had found the right place. Walk to the back and there's a compact area of micros and imports. Great selection, but honestly not better than the other top-notch spots in CT. I did see one brewer I'd never seen before (Kisser) and a few Southern Tier selections that I hadn't seen anywhere else, but no other real revelations. Excellent selection of Belgians and other imports. Great spot, but not necessarily worth going out of your way unless it's closer than some of the other top CT stores.

BringusKilkenney Quote " but obviously there are no craft beer drinkers in the area."
As a craft beer drinker that gets all his brews from Terry I am going to have to strongly disagree with you on this. LOL
Very true Terry has hard to get beers in stock when most others are sold out or just can't get their hands on them. Reason Terry is the go to Beer Guy.
The store from the outside looks like a standard liquor store. Same when you first walk in. Get passed the hard stuff and spoiled grape juices to find a beer lovers dream in the back section. Make a list before entering or you might get lost trying to figure out what you want to indulge in. Tons of imports and micro brews. Hard to find beers you can buy in singles. Great to make a six pack of beers you can't normally find in any store never mind in singles. Being a local and having known Terry for years doesn't make things easier. He can get his hands on anything made with barley. I also look forward to any beer events Terry is working on.
Don't forget to look in the back left corner next to the beer fridge for your copy of BA.

I found this place on beer fly while i am in CT for a week with my job.
First off i can't believe what was on the shelfs, not that it was bad, but obviously there are no craft beer drinkers in the area. I found a Dugana, Vertical Epic 09, and a Stone 13th anniversary on the shelf. The selection was great it isnt really anything i can't get where I am from, Norfolk, but the fact that the beer i found sold out months ago was great. I wold recommend this place to anyone that is passing through and wants to find some things that are sold out everywhere else in the world. This place really is a diamond in the rough because this area is a black hole for beer lovers.

Excellent bottle store with excellent service, only 10 minutes from me. As per many of the previous reviews, Terry knows his stuff (hes more than friendly too). The rest of the staff that I have talked to are friendly and appear to be somewhat knowledgeable.
The selection is top notch as far as what we can get here in CT. Sometimes you'll find a surprise too. Ive stumbled upon IST and Black Ops when reserves were dried up everywhere else. There is a towering four sided pillar dedicated to Belgian stuff. Other countries are well represented as well, including somewhat lesser recognized beer countries such as Poland and Italy.
Keep an eye on bottle dates. Some of the stuff in the warm six pack area hasn't turned over in a while. Same goes for some of the foreign stuff. Also, I wish I could break up six packs at Mountview, but alas I have to travel a bit farther to Amity for that.

Had a very pleasant experience there earlier today.
Place is very clean, well organized and beers are separated by country. Not much fridge selection but hardly an issue.
Talked to two people, both were very helpful and knowledgeable about beer. One was able to point out a few gems that he had hangin around, including an Old Raspy Anniversary and a Rogue Old Crustacean.
For Connection, the selection is great, although a couple places have a tad more. This place has a wider selection of imports than most.
I found everything reasonable priced. A couple things were a dollar more than what I normally see.
Great experience, highly recommended.

Great spot in an out of the way part of CT (basically, it's not on 95, 84 or 91, so I consider it out of the way), but this worked in my favor as they were one of the last places around to still have IST! Terry was very helpful in reserving a bottle for me over the phone, and even called me the day it came in to let me know he had them in hand and confirm when I would be at the store to pick them up.
The selection isn't necessarily the broadest I've ever seen, but it is excellent, and even moreso when looked at in comparison to the other CT stores.
I've been living in NYC for sometime now, so prices pretty much anywhere else seem great, and Mountview is no exception. Prices are the same as other CT stores, and if anything slightly cheaper. All in all a great spot, recommended if you're going to be at all in the area.

Mountview Plaza Wine & Liquors is a gem hidden way in the back of strip mall. If you weren't looking for it, you might never see it. Nestled in between Stop N Shop and a Dollar Store, Mountview is one of the best beer stores around.
Head all the way to the back of the store and you'll find their tremendous beer selection. Relatively speaking, it's actually a small beer space, but it's packed with great brews. They stock pretty much everything available in CT. Regional brews, domestic craft, imports, rare belgians, seaonals or speacial releases, they have everything. Ask for Terry, and he'll tell you what's new, or suggest something worthwhile.
All in all, Mountview is awesome. They may not have the stock of a place like CT Beverage Mart, but their selection and quality is top notch. Plus they run the Brass City Beer Fest, which is a rapidly growing Beer festival in Waterbury, and puts most others to shame. If your in the Naugatuck area this place is a must.

Mountview is about 10 minutes off exit 17 on I-84.
Right next to a Stop N` Shop in a strip mall, you would not necessarily expect to find an exceptional beer selection, but here you will. Upon entering, head all the way to the back, and there a re a handful of racks and a couple of coolers for the beer. It is a very solid mix of craft beers from the U.S.A., and then great beer from Germany, Belgium, Italy (best I`ve seen), Norway, Canada, and some other countries. I did not have a chance to meet Terry, but I did meet a young gentleman who was very helpful and friendly with their offerings. It was a bit of a drive for me, but I am glad I made it out. And I only blew $40 on some really great beer, it would be easy to spend a whole lot more at Mountview.
