Mother's Milk was the 2011 UpCup Champion.
Randy Jones, of Indianapolis entered his "Mother's Milk Sweet Stout" in the competition and he brews with help of Tuxedo Park Brewers of Fountain Square, Indy.
UpCup is an annual competition at Upland that is open to all homebrewers. The winner receives a trophy, and brews his recipe with Caleb, the head brewe, in our brewhouse so it can be served in the Bloomington Tap Room and Indy Tasting Room, and the brew is also entered in competitions such as the Great American Beer Fest Pro-Am Competition and US Beer Tasting Championship.

(Had on tap at Tomlinson Tap Room.) Poured an excellent dark brown/black with some nice head and some nice lacing. Very nice thick roasted malt aroma with a nice extra sweetness in the nose. Great flavors, with great coffee taste and a great cream flavor from the milk sugars; great combination that made it both sweet and slightly bitter. It went down very well and very thick. Great milk stout to try!

On tap at the Tour de Upland preparty. Everything about it was silk.
Pours very close to opaque with a nice, chocolate brown head. Smells like sweet espresso, bitter dark-roasted barley, and milk chocolate. Tastes very much the same; as sweet as a milk stout should be and really masterfully balanced by bitter barley.
The real kicker was the mouthfeel. This is one of the thickest milk stouts I've ever drank. I would have sworn it from a nitro tap, but it wasn't

poured cold from the tap at the brewpub a deep brown to black to a nonic pint with a two finger super foamy mocha head.
big aroma of cocoa and creamy espresso.
true to the nose, great big creamy espresso roast, roasty semi sweet hot chocolate. dark cherries, way in the rear, almost an afterthought.
medium bodied, semi sweet, hint of bitter toward the back of the tongue.
overall - nice stout, sweet, but not cloyingly so, at this abv, very drinkable.
