750ml corked and caged bottle traded to me in person at dark lord day by khumbard. thanks! drank from my new russian river "tion" glass.
as soon as the cage was taken off i went to grab my camera. "pop!" the cork came shooting from the bottle and the beer started gushing out. i guess that explains the warning on some bottles not to point it at your face. close to 1/3 of this bottle was lost.
A- whats left enters my glass a hazy glowing peach colored body with a very small and fizzy head. it literally vanished before my eyes. little to nothing gets left behind for lacing either. disappointing.
S- the smell redeems this beer so far. lots of fresh peaches are jumping out of the glass. not artificial smelling at all. light acetone notes and very little or no barnyard funk usually associated with this style. overall, the nose is a nice balance of sweet and sour.
T- the taste starts out with more of the fresh peaches that i can smell. vinegar and acetone. more sour than the nose. a little bit of the oak barrel sneaks through.
M- the body is on the light side, and the carbonation is extremely high. nice and sour without overpowering.
O- maybe losing one third of it to gushing soured this for me (no pun intended), or maybe its me comparing it to the styles european brothers, but this just doesnt do it for me. i think i traded a cantillon gueuze for this, and although im greatfull for the trade and chance to try this, i cant help but feel i got the short end of the stick on this trade. my first and possibly only try with an upland lambic.

750 ml bottle served in a CCB snifter. 2010 vintage.
A: Pours a hazy peach color with a thin white head forming on the pour. It recedes quickly to a thin ring, not much lace.
S: A ton of peach sweetness with a mild yogurt and underlying tartness to it. Sweet wheat and cracker malts with a little lactic sourness. Some mild grass.
T: Same as the nose. A ton of fresh peach with a gummi peach candy like sweetness to it. Sweet cracked wheat/cracker malt combo with mild lactic sourness. Some drying tartness on the finish.
M: Light bodied with some spritzy carbonation. Drying finish.
O: Definitely enjoyed this one as I'm a fan of peach. The played off the sweetness of the peach very well.

Thanks to Kyle for opening this one up! 2010 vintage.
A: Cork popped with a bit of a gush. Poured a hazy light orange/peach color. Small white fizzy head on top.
S: Nice tartness right away with some peaches and white grapes. The funk is light and in the background to the lactic tartness and peachy aroma.
T: Nice tart/sourness with the fruit underneath. Mostly peach with some faint apricot/stone fruit/lemon underneath, but the peach dominates.
M: Light to medium bodied with medium to high carbonation.
O: For its age, has held up very nicely. Lots of peach still in it, though I imagine some of it has faded. Bet it is quite good fresh, not that it isn't now, just a different beast.
