My wife and I were frequent guests of The Drafting Room's Spring House location and were very upset when they closed their doors last year after a decade in business. I can't believe it took us almost a year to make it out to Exton, but with two kids, and the travel time involved, we just couldn't find the time.
Since we had a rare afternoon together with just the 2 old; our 6 year old was in school, we wanted to do something. What a great idea she had when she suggested we go to The Drafting Room for lunch! We both had a hankering for nachos, and theirs are by far the best. You can taste that everything is homemade, from the refried beans, to the salsa and the chips that are fried in house. And the eye appeal is second to none. Over the years of going to the Spring House location, I have seen many heads turn when my nachos made their way across the dining room. And todays' didn't disappoint.
They were full when we got there, a little after 1, and we were seated promptly. I had to take in the very nice and large beer, scotch and wine menu before ordering a beer, so I started with a water. Our waitress, I think her name was Nicole, was prompt, courteous and obviously very knowledgable. I settled on a Troeg's Nugget Nectar, one of my favorite beers. It tasted much bettter than one that I had last week. When talking with the owner Howard Weintraub, he informed me that the beer had spent less than 1 week on its' journey from the brewery to the bar. That is freshness! You can tell that The Drafting Room has a special relationship with the folks at Troeg's!
Besides the nachos, I ordered a cup of mushroom soup. It was the best mushroom soup that I've ever had. I am not necessarily a mushroom person but I would order that every time. I also ordered the BBQ brisket sandwich with smoked cheddar, which was also very good.
All in all, I highly recommend this place. If you from the Philly area and find yourself in King of Prussia, it is well worth the extra 15 mins on the turnpike. Skip the mall food and restaurants and head over to The Drafting Room. You'll be glad you did!

I've been going to the Drafting Room in Exton for a little over a year now, and at no time have I ever been disappointed in the least. With a great and always changing variety of microbrews on tap and a great bottle list, it's almost impossible to not find something that appeals to everyone. The staff, especially those in the bar area know their stuff, and after a few trips, they begin to know you as well.
The bar area seems a little on the small side, but usually it isn't too hard to find a seat, and there is sufficient standing room. Only downside to the bar is that smoking is allowed, but the dining area is smoke free, so it's not that bad.
As far as the food goes, whether it be lunch, dinner, or just a snack, they've got a wide variety of fantastic items; from nachos and wings, to burgers and sandwiches, to fondue, to steaks and seafood dishes. Their daily specials are always unique and delicious, and their happy hour prices are very reasonable.

One of these places in the Philly area that I've heard about since being on BA, but never got around to going to. Out of my way, being from South Jersey, but well-worth going to. This place simply rocked.
Great selection. Granted, I was here the day after their annual Heavyweight event. There were 4 Heavyweight taps (including Lun-icy) and 2 Heavyweight milds on-cask. Their Troeg's 11th anniversary ale was there as well as the Oatmeal Stout from Troeg's. 2 Oktoberfests (1 local), Lindeman's. Not to mention a very good bottle selection. Rogue has also selected them to carry their Private Reserve series on-tap. That's cool.
When I went after work on a Tuesday, it was pretty quiet. My server was excellent. Gave me a Lun-icy sample without asking (although she overhead me talking to the guy next to me). Let me keep my menu the whole time and they didn't mind me taking notes.
People at the bar were friendly.
Food was really good. Got the burger which was quite nice. Fries were awesome however. Bacon on the burger was crispy. Roll was big but perfect for the big burger they gave me. Quite the meal. Look forward to coming back sometime (maybe on a visit to Victory) and trying more of the food menu.
There is smoking at the bar at least, so be forewarned. I wasn't bothered.

The Drafting Room is one of my old stand-by's.
Atmosphere - strip mall, but well done. I am dying for them to expand the bar area, but not sure that will ever happen.
Quality/Selection - Solid ~60 or so bottles. 10 rotating drafts and 1 cask (usually HopDevil). They keep Amstel, SNPA, and O'Rielley's Stout on at all times. They get a good crowd and are able to rotate like crazy. Frequently have Troegs, Sly Fox and Victory featured along with smaller West Coast and imports. Always a fun balance. Last year they actually had themes for each month and would have 4-5 variations on that style. Also a huge Scotch collection if you're interested.
Food - I love the pub grub as well as the menu staples, which are all done very well. The specials are where the kitchen shines though. Lots of creative dishes and they almost always deliver with an interesting special that tempts me.
Service - exceptional. They really have a great wait staff and some bartenders who know their beer. It is the only set of bartneders I know in PA who will respond to the order of 'Lager' (everyone orders Yeungling around here that way) with a 'What kind of lager?'. They also sometimes run out of domestic macro-bottles that are cold... on purpose I think. I consider that a plus.
If you are looking for a beer bar in Chester County, look no further. This is as good as they get.

The Drafting Room is the bar that helped me to realize what my preferences in beer are, with its rotating monthly "Featured drafts" and a friendly and knowledgable staff. Their food is also excellent and they have a monday night "Mug Night" special where you buy a $5 mug at any time (which you bring home at the end of each visit) and receive $3 drafts (as opposed to the normal $4) on monday nights. They have a pretty good selection of micros and belgians on bottle as well as draft, with a rotating monthly beer style as i noted earlier. Their website is also great and up to date on what is on tap at the time. Try the Belgian Beer Fondue, its great! http://www.draftingroom.com

Went here with fellow BA's Phatz and HombreWing after the Brew Club trash pickup. The day was planned weeks before to be here for the One Final Victory for Heavyweight and the release of Baltic Thunder. However, due to the bottling issues it was postponed for another day. In any case, we decided to make the trip anyways and I'm glad we did. Started with a pint of Pliny the Elder and then went to Sierra Nevada Harvest Ale. Both spectacular and fresh. Nice full bottle list to compliment the nice draft list. Had a bowl of Chicken Gumbo for $4.50 that was very tasty and spicy. The only problem I had with the place was the smoke at the bar so we sat in the dining room. The service was as perfect as you can find. Waitress was cute and very attentative and seemed interested in our beer talk. The manager stopped by and chatted for close to an hour eventhough he was quite busy. He even gave us a sample of the Baltic Thunder, wow, awesome beer. I wish this place was closer because I would probably live there. It certainly was worth the drive and very convenient to I76.

Well, I think its time I review the Drafting Room. Spent a lot of time there this past summer and got a chance to get back last night now that I'm home for a couple days.
The place isn't the greatest for atmosphere. Its in a strip mall kind of thing. But it is a nice strip mall...I have to say that. The inside of the bar and restaurant are very tastfully done. Well layed out, very good lighting, nice wood. Couple nice flat screen TVs.
The overall quality is very good. Not sure what else to say about this category.
Service is great. Very professional wait staff and bartenders. They know the beer and the food and are friendly but not overbearing. They are fast too.
The beer selection is quite nice. I would give it a 4.0 if it had just the bottle selection and the 'usual suspects' on draft. But their draft selection is really quite incredible. They keep a running total of the DIFFERENT beers they tap in a year and right now its at 212.
So just last night they had SN Harvest ale, Allagash Grand Cru, a Flying Fish Belgian, Southern Tier Winter Ale, Lancaster Alt, SN Celebration Ale, Petrus Oud Bruin and a couple other gems I can't recall. I also had, for the second time in my glorious life, a hand pulled Sly Fox EKG IPA.
Very very tasty.
When that kicked, they replaced it with Stoudt's Imperial Stout.
Petrus is also the third Oud Bruin/Flander's Red ale I've seen there. They also had Duchess de Bourgne (sp?) and Mastreechts (sp?) on this summer. Probably have had others AS WELL!
Had a great Sly Fox event this summer with a bunch of their IPAs from the IPA project. Also had a Heavyweight event.
Bottles are pretty good too. Rochefort, Westy 8 (or 10?), St.Bernardus and a ton of other tasty beers. Don't think they have any Lambics outside of Lindemans.
Also have incredible food. Again, not the best I've had, but it certainly deserves a 5 here. Very nice dishes. Very large portions. Can be pretty pricey...but worth it.

The Drafting Room is one of my favorites. The beer menu was great before most places in this local thought of having a beer menu. The food is great too. They have excellent dinner specials on the weekends and their rotating taps always have something good to offer. Today I had a Dupont Moinette (blonde) and the time before, Cantillon Lou Pepe Framboise both on tap. Watch their website for their monthly beer styles. This month is Brown Ale. Check this place out, you won't be disappointed. If you like dessert get the peanut butter pie.

I have frequented this place a few times. Each time is a better experience than the prior. The draft selection has always been phenomenal. The last time I was there they had, Cantillon Lou Pepe Framboise, Rogue 10,000, Allgash Curieux & Weyerbacher Muse all on draft. The bottle selection is equally impressive. The staff has been top notch. Both times there I sat at the bar and the bartenders were attentive and knew their beer. They even offered samples before I tried them. The food is also superb. The salads and sandwiches I had both times were amazing.
I really recocmend this place to any one passing by.

The priciness of the place is worth it, trust me. The food is excellent, the menu is innovative, trendy, satisfying and presented well. The beer selection is top notch. I regularly travel to this Drafting Room location only; the west-coast IPA and pale ale styles are mutually loved by both the staff and the beer geeks, and the respect level for these two specific styles is high (much appreciated by at least this local IPA hophead). I've been to two specialty nights devoted to Sierra Nevada harvest ales alone, plus their efforts to maintain a great selection whenever IPA-style month is upon us is worthy enough of a great rating. Cheers!
