Located near the intersection of highways 105 and 184, the store sits right next to the ABC liquor store. As the name suggests, most of the inventory consists of wine and cheese with the beer selection being very small. There is a small shelf to your right about halfway through the store which has a few craft brews and that's about it. What they had was decent, some Dogfish Head, Avery, Sam Smith, a few Terrapin beers and Duck Rabbit. Not much else. Service was good, a nice looking girl asked if she could help me as soon as I walked in. If it's craft beer you're interested in, you would be better off checking out the Lowes grocery store right behind Erick's in the same shopping center.

I visited this store one late afternoon after work. The store was pretty busy so the service was kind of slow but I know my beer and wasnt really dissappointed.

The beer was on shelf near the middle right of the store. They had about six or seven visible 22oz in a cooler on the other side of the store but most was warm. A pretty nice selection. Grand Cru, Terrapin, Chimay.... A sign said more was refrigerated but was unsure if that was refering to the cooler or if another cooler housed beer.

Reasonable prices and probably the best selection in the area. Boone is 20 minutes up the road but if staying in the Elk, go here for you beer needs.

Erick's is not that hard to find in Banner Elk near the 105 and 184 intersection. It is in the plaza in front of Lowes Foods and is directly beside the ABC store.

I spoke at length with the owner and got the history of the place. It has an awesome selection of wine and of cheese and the beer selection, while on the small side, is well thought out and well selected. There are just a few BMC packs around, mainly for folks who run into the ABC store and instead of having to drive up to Lowes they just run in. For the same reason he has mixers.

The beer selection is a mixed bag of beers and breweries, and he could order you most anything desired. His pricing is competitive and the only drawbacks are no cold beers are available and his selection only boasts 75-100 beers.

If in the area, there is no better place to stop that Erick's.
