on tap at the brewery in August 2011 (from notes).
Opaque black in color with modest but long lasting tan head
Aroma: rather unremarkable medium and dark malts.
Taste: roasted grain, oatmeal,. Rich and earthy. Dark roast dominates during consumption as well as in the finish.
M - low carbonation; medium-full body
O - pleasant if rather mediocre stout.

Had while at the brewpub during a trip to Asheville. Served from tap into a sampler shaker. Poured blan with a half finger tan head that subsided to a minimal amount slowly. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of roasted malt, dark chocolate, slight sweet malt, and caramel. The flavor was of sweet malt, dark chocolate, cream, roasted malt, and caramel. It had a light feel on the palate with mild carbonation. Overall this was a decent brew. The flavors on this one were a little watered down and defniitely needed to shine more. The flavors that were present though were quite good if I'm honest. If this were more robust it would be quite awesome. Worth trying if you aren't trying to get trashed out in Asheville.

Best thing I had at Asheville Brewing. On tap in another shaker, black in color with thin tan head and rings of thin lace. A little smoky, black malt, medium roast, and a little powdery chocolate. Taste: roasted grain, dark chocolate, caramel, earthy and a little citric hop. Easy drinking with a nice drying finish. Not amazing, but a tasty stout.

reviewed from notes from a long night of tasting in asheville a while back. served from the tap into a pint glass.
decent pour with a ark brown color that quickly led to a small and compact head of white that settled across the top of the glass and left a nice little bit of lacing along the sides. aroma is light caramel an chocolate, dry with hints of coffee and roasted malts. light profile though and comes off a touch thin if i am being honest, but it has a nice sweet finish and a smooth coating of the palate.
overall not bad at all, not the best in the world, but nowhere near bad.

This is apparently a new offering by this little brewpub. Came out a deep black with a thin mocha head on top. Left nice sip rings and little lace spots. Scents of roasted malts and nuts, and a slight coffee twang.
Full, creamy body on this beer. Almost chewable. Flavors of dark bitter chocolate, a mild creamy sweetness in the middle, and a slight charring finish. This is a very well-made stout. I liked it a lot. Recommend.
