I had a few beers here while I was in Helsinki for 4 days. I found it wasn't too bad. It was big and the beers were priced about slightly cheaper than average for Helsinki and considering the quality, there is some leeway for overlooking prices. Good European selection with Americans and British beers too. The selection was fairly diverse and the helpful, polite bartenders were a plus.
It seemed busy and loud but I can't fault a place for its clientele. I wouldn't say the atmosphere was great but I don't really mind things like that so long as the beer is good.
There were 2 bars making service quite easy and I made it a point to sit at the bar.
Overall, a place definately worth checking out if you're in the centre of Helsinki someday.

Wow, what a place! Located half a block away from the square to the right side of the central train station, this place is a must visit for any BA in Helsinki. It is large, with two separate entrances. Going in from the side providing the address, there is a small curved bar to the right featuring 25 taps. A large chalkboard to the left of the bar lists the draft offerings, while a second chalkboard above the bar lists the bottles (about 100, including American products from Brooklyn, Anchor, Sam Adams and otheres). Fifteen of the 25 taps had Finnish brews, ranging from Kokko Pils to Koff Christmas and a marvellous IPA. The imports were mainly German (Paulaner, Aventinus) and British (Spitfire and one or two others). There was also a seperate list of ten or twelve bottled winter seasonals, most from Finland.
There was no table service, but the three bartenders worked very quickly and were quite friendly. One was happy to share with us his vast knowledge of the Finnish beer scene, and even recommended some other places to go in Helsinki. There is only a snack menu of sandwiches and baked potatoes, the latter was only OK and pretty pricey. Classic rock was on the sound system. The place was full, but not packed, on a Tuesday evening that turned into night. Watch out, by the way, as you near closing time, as the bar closes without warning and the bartenders, as friendly as they were, strictly refused to poor one last pint.
The beers were delicious, although I thought the darker and stronger ones came out too cold. There did not seem to be any difference in the glassware between beers, even of radically different types. Still, there is no arguing with the product. Definitely a must visit.

This place is located next to the big railway square in central helsinki. Ie, very easy to find.
When you walk in there's a quite normal looking pub there with a huge chalkboard telling what beers they are currently offering on bottle and tap. About 20-25 beers on draught at all times. Usually some nice finnish micros and belgians can be found!
In the back there is a "living-room" section with plenty of sofas and tables to chill in. This is the best place to sit it.
Prices are very fair for being such a central location. Bartenders know their stuff and are usually very friendly.
If you're looking for the best pub in central helsinki, this is it, hands down. I always visit this place whenever i'm in helsinki!
