This is a rare one that I don't see around at all. Brown .5L bottle, label is blue with gold foil border, depicting three sailing ships at sea. English text reads "Imported product of Russia" and "LAGER". Elaborate typography below looks like "Ilmen Beer", which was confirmed by my Russian friend who gave me the bottle. After a little web reseach, "Il'men" is determined to be the name of a lake near the brewery in Novgorod, Russian Federation.
Pours a deep amber color, not exactly your typical EPL appearance. Euro Amber Lager could be a new style from this tiny regional brewery. Dense foamy head rises and settles. Suspended particles apparent in the hazy liquid. Aroma of rich malt and faint mineral water.
Taste mirrors the smell, and I have to say somewhat unique. Not skunky in the least, lightly sweet and tangy malt here with well-water underpinnings. Funky grain and white grape in the aftertaste. Style goes in the Czech Pilsner direction somewhat. Rich yet smooth, and very sessionable. Too bad I only got 1/2 pint out of the deal (shared with a friend).
Edit: So I tracked down a few more bottles, didn't seem as fresh as the first sample. Still very flavorful, and a better example of a Euro Lager. www.deka.com.ru
In Chicago, the only place that regularly stocks it is a liquor store on N. Clark St., next to the Assyrian restaurant "Big Buns & Pita".

A - Pours a cloudy bronzed yellow/gold with a nice sized fluffy white head that settles quickly. Darker than I was expecting for the style.
S - Strong sweet malt aroma. That is about it but it is pleasant enough to carry this beer.
T - Rich malt flavor with a slight mineral taste. Slightly sweet.
M - Bigger moutfeel than others I have tried in the style but still smooth and easy to drink. Decent carbonation.
D - This was a pleasant surprise and one of the better Euro Pale Lagers I have tried. Thanks to emerge077 for giving me a bottle.
