Piece Brewery Top Heavy Hefeweizen served on tap
Appearance: Small head with a cloudy golden body.
Smell: Strong wheat
Taste: Wheat, yeast, and slight spice.
It is very refined and smooth. It is also very flavorful and not heavy. It's a very good hefeweizen.

First had: on tap at the brewpub
Review from notes. Hazy straw-yellow pour, topped with a cap of foamy white head; moderate retention and a bit of lacing. Yeasty aroma, wheat, banana esters, light spice and a bit of citrus. More of the same in the taste, bready yeast, banana and clove, light citrus, wheat...pretty much a typical hefe. Medium body, fairly smooth, decently drinkable overall.

Served in a weizen glass at the brewpub.
Continuing my march through Piece's offerings. This one pours a hazy straw topped by a finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises banana, clove, light orange peel, and vanilla. The taste brings in more of the same, complete with a veritable blast of bananas and cream. The body is a light medium, with a very light moderate carbonation and a smooth-as-hell feel. Overall, a very strong hefe, possibly the highlight of my visit today.

Had on tap at Piece. Served in a 22 oz. Hefe glass.
A: Pours a very chilled and hazy dark straw that bubbles to a very light brown at the body of the glass. A fluffy, pure white head forms on the pour, about one finger in height, that stick with me down the entire glass. Splotches of lace follow me down the glass. Looks perfect.
S: Great notes of wheat, clove, peppery yeast and a subtle bubblegum.
T: The taste follows the nose, but there is a little bit more peppery yeast bite with a little less sweet bubblegum. The wheat becomes more prevalent as well with a slight malt character.
M: Medium bodied, but leaning towards the lighter side. Little coating quality that really lets the yeast resonate in your mouth.
O: It's obvious why this beer has won multiple awards. It's very delicious and I would have again and again. All the characteristics in the taste really mesh well.

On tap at Piece Brewery Chicago.
Holy hell! What a great beer! True this is my favorite style of beer, but this drink was damn near perfect! Appearance was perfect cloudy yellow with thin white head. Smell was yeasty and wheaty, with strong banana notes. Taste was just perfect...I would have gotten another one had I not already had the Stout and Kolsh! Mouthfeel was smooth and crisp. Overall a damn awesome beer! I'd make the trek to Wicker Park just to grab this one again and again.

I had this beer served from a tap into a 22oz glass.
The beer has a really nice orangish color with a decent haziness to it. The head is a nice clean white one finger head with minimal lacing on the glass. The smell has mild notes of spice and yeast with a slight bitterness to it, not very fruity as expected with a hefeweizen. The taste is decent with a good blend of banana, clove, yeast, and spice. The mouthfeel is pretty decent with a mild spiciness (sp) and some bitterness in the back end. Overall, this is really good beer and I hate to discourage people on it but not worthy on WBC Bronze.

Reviewed from notes.
Pours a moderate yellowish color that is quite cloudy and has a nice white head. Nose is yeast, wheat, and light citrus. The taste is wheat and citrus with a bit of a yeasty kick. Nice body with good carbonation. A bit heavy but drinks well.

A - Cloudy, medium color of gold with a slight orange tint. Pretty good sized, creamy, thick, fluffy, white head. Good retention that settles into a nice creamy layer of lace.
S - Some banana along with a good amount of malted wheat aroma. Good amount of clove and some other spice and a fair amount of vanilla present.
T - Good amount of malted wheat and bready flavors. Fair amount of banana present, although it isn't the most banana forward Hefeweizen. Faint bubblegum taste toward the finish. A touch of lemon and yeast tartness along with a slight tangy taste.
M - Medium body with a good amount of carbonation. A bit of a zesty and tingly feel.
D - Very drinkable beer with a nice refreshing feel and a fair amount of zesty taste. Overall a very refreshing beer.
Notes: A nice refreshing Hefeweizen. Not the most banana/bubblegum forward, but it is a good, refreshing beer and has a good spiciness. Very enjoyable beer, especially on a warm summer day.

Wow. This might be the best Heffe I've ever had. Gorgeous cloudy/murky golden pour with copious amounts of beautiful foamy white head with thick and sticky lacing left all around the glass. Aroma is a pleasant mix of spices with some malty/wheaty/yeasty notes. Flavor is similar, but MUCH more intense and absolutely delicious. Amazingly complex and flavorful considering the 5.5% abv. Incredibly drinkable - I could honestly drink this stuff all day every day. Surprisingly substantial and chewy mouthfeel. One of the best beers I've had period. LOVE LOVE LOVE this stuff. Once you take a sip its quite clear why this beer has one so many awards, including GOLD at the 2006 World Beer Cup.
This is a truly fantastic brew - I'm already looking forward to the next time I get to try some.

On tap at Piece...Medium gold with a light orange tint...The aroma is nice with oranges, wheat and yeast nice and balanced. The taste is a little disappointing, too sweet with banana, needs to be more balanced. Easy to drink but nothing special.
Overall, pretty good.

A: Hazy orange in color. Served with a 1/4" of white head. Active carbonation visible.
S: Bubblegum and floral citrus aroma
T: Chewy orange-flavored beer. Orange blossoms. Bubblegum. Fruity, with a light sweetness.
M: On the lighter side with heavier carbonation.
D: A very good hefe that I found quite easy to drink. Great fresh flavors. Quite enjoyable.

Appears a hazy cloud of gold with a white head that slowly fades into a mild cap. Scattered bits of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of tart wheat, ripe bananas, vanilla wafers, cloves, ripe fruit, and a touch of sulfer.
Taste is of the aromas with the classic Bavarian hefe yeast filled flavor coming through with a gentle tartness.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, spritzy, and very deliciously refreshing.
