Unfortunately, this is the closest good beer store to my place in Watertown, but its worth the drive. Great selection of beers and fortunately they have a good rotating selection of Stone on hand. This place is a little interesting from the outside as it looks like an old farmers market, and even when you get inside it appears to be nothing more than a grocery store. However, when you discover the beer isle, your worries will be over. The service consisted of talking with some other guys buying beer. Its odd. The beer almost seems like an afterthought here. Not that Im complaining. Fantastic selection, and the best place I know of in Upstate New York.

This place is your neighborhood mom and pop grocer not necessarily your go to beer store. However, the small section that they do have holds some rather good brews. A good number of bombers on the top two shelves and some sixers below. Great vintages to be found, since most people don't go here for brews. For example I just picked up 3 bottles of 2009 DFH World Wide Stout, tucked behind some other bottles out of the light. Some big beers here that stand up to age very well, so no concerns on those. Some good Belgian style beers as well as more local stuff. Pricing is fair for what they have and other prices locally. I was told by the owner just three days ago that they are planning to close in January of 2011 and no more beer would be shipped in. That being said if your in the area you might want to stop by and pick up what they have left so all that beer doesn't go bad!

wow! how can you fit so much qualtiy beer in such a tiny space? I was surprised when I went in to find the that there was one small isle of beer, however it was some really good beer. I was able to locate a couple of bottles I hadn't seen anywhere else which made me ecstatic. The prices are reasonable, nothing extreme or unusual, I paid $6.50 for a bomber new to my market, and that was one of the most expensive beers there. The guys working might not know a lot about beer, but they are really nice and this isn't a "beer store", it's a general store, small and seemingly family owned. i would stop in here again to try and find a little gem or two.

Stop here in my business trips to Syracuse, its convenient to Rt 90.
Estimate beer aisle about 1.5 couches long (short), but this is a general store, need to fit the deli and everything else! For its size, has a good variety of imports and domestic, expect your staple micros (rogue, DF, abita, stone, lost coast, brooklyn.. ). As others pointed out, good spot for the NY upstate brews: middle ages, ommegang, cooperstown, flying bison, saranac. Beer mostly warm, the cooler is dedicated primarily to fizzy macros. My impression is the mix-a-six rack is dedicated to beers they're trying to get rid of, nothing special. Find service a crapshoot, again this is a general store and not a beer store, so I don't have high expectations of knowledgeable advice.
Definitely best selection in Syracuse, but an average/generic selection compared to beer stores that carry micros in the northeast.

Another Syracuse grocery/convenience store with a solid beer selection (see Brilbecks). This place is a typical convenience store, with lots of non-perishable foods and a deli where you can get fresh cuts of meat.
But it also has a really good selection of six-packs and 22oz bombers, from the US and Europe. You can get a mixed sixer of select beers or buy lots of full sixers from all the East Coast favorites. Also, lots of 22oz beers of Bear Republic, Rogue and the like.
The left side of the shelving has lots of British and Belgian beers in large bottles. These tend to be a little more expensive, naturally, but the fact that they are available around here is a blessing. This is a good stop.

This was my first of three stops on my short visit to Syracuse.
Found this place fairly easy, there's a front entrance & parking in the back. I entered through the back entrance, where i crossed their backstore to the actual store.
The store has a general store vibe, with lots of aisles for food, pharmacy supplies, etc.. which is good if you need to get things other than beer (not my case).
Service was friendly & courteous.
Ok, selection is great, pretty much the same as other subsequent stores i visited in the area. My only peeve is that i am a "singles" guy, wanting as many different beers as possible. But the rack for singles was woefully inadequate. Only 3 or 4 types to choose from. Prices seemed similiar to other stores. Most beers are at room temp with a small share in coolers.
Don't come here if you want to buy singles bottles but for bombers & 6packs, great place to come.
Overall, very disappointed with the selection of single bottles but a decent place otherwise.

This is my go-to stop for all my beer needs. It has a very good selection and the prices are good, too. However, the place has many drawbacks. First, it is pretty much just a tiny grocery store with a dirty pool supply store that you actually have to walk through to get to it. There isn't much on the service end considering most of the people working are on the register. However, the old man that is usually there is nice when I get to the counter and he recognized a fellow beer drinker from my purchases and asked if I was going to CNY Brewfest.
Great place if you don't mind rubbing shoulders with the rundown grocery store crowd.

A great little old fashioned family run grocery, with a great selection of beer in bottles, cans, and kegs. Galeville packs a wide selection in a relatively small place. Tons of craft beers in bottles, keg beers are all the usual macrobrewery suspects, but the keg prices are respectable. Prices for all bottled and canned beer are reasonable. Service is knowledgeable and friendly. I now make a regular pilgrimage to Galeville whenever I'm in town. If you're in the Syracuse area, they are definitely worth your business.

I really am pleased with my trip to Galeville. A lot better than an L.C.B.O. Has a solid selection of micros ( Dog Fish, Stone, Rogue, to name a few). Good service but not in your face ( I like doing my own thing anyhow) and the price is reasonable some beers were a little over priced but I really did not care cause you cant find them in Canada. I spent around $400 and am very happy with the beer that I returned with. For now I can only dream of a corner store selling beer in Ontario. I will be visiting again.

The store itself was a easy to find parking was a little more difficult however. I went inside and it was full off twists and turns. I walked right by the beer at first. Then I found it! They have packed a good selection into a little area. It is packed in tight so you will probabally have to make a couple of laps around the beer isles to see everything. Some of the selection was a little pricey but for the most part it wasn't bad. The people that work there were very pleasant and nice. One gentlemen even said that as long as beer doesn't $3 a gallon the store would be alright. It was an old fashioned locally owned kind of place and I can always appreciate that. Plus for an East Coast store there was a nice selection of West Coast beers and they had a good selection of New England beers aswell.
