This place is a great little gem in the middle of a really stuffy town. It feels like something you might find in Berkley or Oakland, but there it is in the middle of suburbia.

The atmosphere is casual and comfortable. There is frequently live music too... which is sometimes good.

Bottled beer selection is odd but good. There are some great finds there and most of the usual suspects. The food is great too. I've had just about everything and it's hard to go wrong with just about anything on the menu.

Go try it out!

I visited this place for the first time on a Saturday night. We got there at 6:30 and there was already a line out the door. It's obviously a very popular place. There was a jazz band just starting to set up. After a wait of around 15 minutes we were finally in the door. Along the wall along the right was a sight so great that it almost brought me to tears.

An absolutely phenomenal selection of beers. There are four coolers full of around 60 top Belgian selections and another 70-80 top American craft brews. I've never seen a selection anywhere close to this in a restaurant. After much deliberation I picked up a 750ml bottle of Westmalle tripel. You order and pay for the food and beer at the corner and they give you a number and even some real Belgian chalices for the beer. The food comes out very quickly.

The food is simply fantastic. The night I went the meat choices were brisket, sausage, chicken, and ribs. I ordered the sausage and ribs and both were top notch. The sides were potato salad and sweet potatoes. The atmosphere was awesome since the jazz band had started to play at this point and they were great.

I can't recommend this place enough. An unbelievable beer selection to go along with some of the best barbecue in the Bay Area.

I came here for the first time on a Saturday night around 5:30, and it had already started getting busy. There was a blues band setting up, unfortunately I had to leave for a basketball game before they got started. As stated in earlier reviews, this is first and foremost a BBQ joint, but probably one of the best in the Bay Area. It's a local favorite, so be aware that it gets busy early (by 6 the line was out the door). Aside from the incredible ribs and brisket I had, the highlight of this place was its beer selection.

At least 4 coolers full of outstanding brews. I had a westy blue cap (the dubbel went great with the BBQ) and my friend had an Ayinger Celebrator. Among the other beers I noticed in the fridge were Rochefort 8 & 10, Westmalle, Orval, Fantome Saison, a number of Unibroue beers, a wide selection of California and other microbrews, etc., etc. This was hands down one of the best beer selections I've seen at a restaurant. While most of these are beers that a lot of BA's have probably tried, it's rare to find them all under one roof with tasty BBQ to boot. Definitely worth a trip, especially if you live in the Bay Area.

Summation: excellent bbq and Westy 12.

Selection: ample supply of Westy 12 in the cooler. No taps. London Pride, Germans, American stuff, etc. Westy 12 at a bbq joint people!

Service: Grab beer, order, pay, then sit. Food is brought out to you. Pluses: gave glasses and towellettes. Big plus: warning about the price of Westy 12. I was prepared, but that would be helpful for non-craft beer people.

Atmosphere: Metal tables. Nice outside area thought. Left door open when it was 100 degrees outside.

Food: very good local reputation. We all had the ribs. Very good. Best in area? That's what they say. Sauce on the side, which is a good idea. Sauce isn't spicy. Sides do not match the quality of the meat. Corn and salad decent. Potato salad was cold mashed potatoes with relish, but it tasted good. People say the brisket is even better.
