Light bodied, pale gold with a decent white head that dissipates to a ring and lace fairly quickly.

The aroma is mild malt with a grassy herbal hops .

Mild pleasant malt flavor - slightly nutty, maybe some citrus, fairly dry and crisp with just a touch of hops and slightly tart for a good finish.

Very drinkable. This would be a good thirst quencher on a hot summer day.

12oz sample

this beer is a fizzy, golden nectar full of bubble jets and topped with a thin, taut ring of foam. a bit of cold haze in the center of the english pint.

soft aroma of processed grain, almost like cream of wheat. not much hop sting here, this beer gives off wafts of freshness and raw ingredients. there is also a touch of honey in the nose. i'm thinking this is going to drink really easily.

well, it's certainly got some hops in it. not enough to kill, just enough to add a bit of tart berry to the flavor and a bit of bitter grind contrast to the sweeter, honey-laced finish. warmth brings out the nicest hop accent, which is very 'bud' like.. the kind stuff, of course. there is also a mild, flavorful hint of breakfast tea in the hop profile. i like that.. this is a real easy drinker, although i prefer the hoppier pilsners. mouthfeel is a bit on the fizzy side.. when i allow this beer to rest in my cheeks/mouth to savour some flavor, it feels a bit like pop rocks and throws off the smooth flow of taste here.

all in all, a good pilsner. nothing that will knock your socks off but nothing really bad to say about it either. probably a lot better on tap.

12 oz sample. This brew pours a lightly goldened straw color with a half finger of very white head that falls to a full coating over top of the brew. There is a moderate stream of bubbles cascading towards the surface, and the brew is just clear as can be. This is a good looking brew. Taking a nice inhale, I get rich, crisp pilsner malt tones, with just a kiss of honey sweetness that I associate with the pilsner malt. Riding the malt wave, there are very delicate and spicey/floral noble hop aromas. This one has all the tones I want in a pils, and is in very good harmony with itself. Sipping the brew I taste everything I mentioned in the nose. It has a nice balance on the malt between mild graineyness and light sweetness. The noble hop is a little less pronounced as I would like it to be, but it comes through well in the aftertaste, and leaves a very mild bitterness on my tongue. Mouthfeel is right at moderate, with a moderate carbonation of very fine bubbles. A very nice combination. Overall, this is a beer worth checking out. It is a damn good example of a pilsner beer...the best domestic example that you will find in Chicago for sure. Good work Goose!

Pours out a light yellow-gold color, just a bit of fluffiness in the head. Taste is nice and clean as pilsners go. This one has a nice hoppy aftertaste, and just a touch of fruitiness. Finishes like a good pils oughtta. Easily one of the best packaged pilsners in this area.

In the pub pack, pours a pale clear yellow with nice big white head and lace. Smells like grassy hops, malty. Taste is pretty malty, citrusy with a clean bitter finish. Very pleasant pils, although I've heard they discontinued it. Very smooth and tasty, medium carbonation and very refreshing.

Pours crystal clear, pale straw and effervescent. Thin white head sticks around. Aroma of pale malts and grass with a little bit of lemons. Flavor is soft and smooth. Creamy malts are big with some grassiness and lemony herbal hops. Decent example of an easy drinking pils, especially on this 90+ degree F day.

Part of the Pub Pack. I poured this into a standard pint glass emblazoned with the Huskers logo, because I was too lazy to get one of my pilsner glasses from the cabinet. Listed as a German Pilsner, even though there are references to Czech on the bottleneck label?

Appearance: Golden, small white head. Reduced down to a small cloud and a ring around the glass. Carbonation bubbles float hurriedly to the top in a frenzy.

Smell: Mostly a floral hop aroma, somewhat like a hay field or pasture, minus the cows.

Taste: Little malt sweetness at the front. A hoppy bitter finish.

Mouthfel: Light to medium bodied, moderately carbonated. A crisp finish.

Drinkability: This is decent, probably better to be had on a warmer day (spring/summer), for me not really a good dead of winter, 18 degrees outside beer.

Goose Island “Pils” pours out a light amber from a 12oz dark brown bottle. Head fine foam went well over three fingers then turned rocky before collapsing to islands and ring with the sides of the glass well laced.

Nose is a damp CO² with a hint of oak wood. Palate is a bright Pils with a nice bite of carbonation and bitter hops. Mouthfeel is done well for a Pils, not watery in the least. Goose Island was going for the style and I think they hit the nail on the head.

Refreshingly crisp and tasty, Goose Island “Pils” will be around for some time.

This beer pours a light golden color with a medium head that dies off quickly and leaves a tiny bit of lacing on the glass. The aroma is grainy and has a grassy hop and citrus character. The flavor is somewhat smooth and easy to drink. Has a slight hop flavor and a bit of malt. Not bad for a pils.

Paid $12.49 even for the Pub Pack...

This beer pours a clear golden base with a nice large white head, excellant retention and very nice lacing effects. The aroma persisted me with hints of both malts and hops that were pleasant to the nose.

The taste was great, medium carbonation, great pilsener taste, one of the best in the world, no joke. The mouthfeel works, decent aftertaste, very nice on the palette. Drinkability is way up there, the ideal session beer for me are lagers and pilseners, and this one raises the bar for American Pilseners.

Final Thought: Goose Island's Pub Pack is 6 for 6 and this one with the IPA were the standouts, Honk Honk...

The beer, courtesy of my buddy oldcrustacean, pours a perfectly clear, shining golden yellow, topped with a short layer of dense white froth. The head settles after a moment into a fine patch of mist, with a moat around the edges forming a thin collar. Large blobs of sticky lace.
The aroma is really mild, just a soft whiff of floral, slightly tangy/spicy hops. A hint of soapiness. Very clean, with some grassy notes and a cracklingly grainy german malt.
The flavor starts with very light, fluffy german pilsner malt. Rather grainy, moving quickly and concisely into the hoppy finish, some grassy notes escaping through. The hops are very german, with a delicate tettnang or hallertau bite, finishing off with a soapy astringency. The beer cuts off pretty clean in the finish, just a slight soapy hop flavor lingering on the tongue. Light body, with prickly effervescence.
Not a bad pilsner by any means. Perhaps a bit too mild for my tastes. I like a pilsner with a more agressive hopping, but this would certainly hit the spot on a summer afternoon.

12-oz bottle from a Pub Pak, freshness date "030805". Pours a very pale gold, not much lace. Smells rather normal, like (gasp!) a Corona (note: I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing). Tastes quite good, given that I'm drinking this warm. It sure tastes better than a Corona!

This here is yet another solid brew from Goose Island. Nothing earth-shattering, mind you, but definitely worth a try, especially as a session beer.

I'd call this a toned-down, more accessible version of Victory Prima Pils for the midwest. The taste is indeed hoppy and spicy, but not overwhelmingly so- it's very smooth, and easy to pair with anything. In that way, I think both 'learned' beer-drinkers and novices alike would enjoy it.

Sampled on tap at the Goose Island Clyborne location
The beer is a brilliant straw color with a thin off-white head. It has a clean spicy aroma of noble hops. The taste is smooth and creamy with a nice hop bite in the finish. This has a really nice hop flavor to it, slightly herbal and a little bit grassy. This is a well crafted Pilsner, very clean and a great beer to quaff.
