On tap at the Brew Pub in Montreal

Appearance – Hazy burgundy colour with an average size fizzy white coloured head. There is a below average amount of carbonation showing and there isn't much lacing. The head lasted for around 3 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Wheat, plums/cherries, lemon juice

Taste & Mouth - The beer has an average amount of carbonation. I can taste breads/grains mixed plum and citric acid. The way the tartness of the citrus work with the sweetness of the plums it comes across as a tart cherry flavour. Not as much funk in this as the other soltice d'ete's. It ends with a tart fruity aftertaste.

Overall – Probably my favourite version of this beer so far. The flavours were actually pretty well balanced and it wasn't just an over the top funk/sour bomb. Hopefully this one makes it into bottles at some point.

A glass at the Accent Lounge, after their DDC tap takeover, the next day when I can actually hear myself think.

This beer appears a hazy, rather cloudy ruddy amber colour, with one finger of finely foamy pale beige head, which leaves a few broad swaths of hilly lace around the glass as it expectedly sinks away.

It smells of semi-sweet, mildly sour black fruit, so, um, prunes, I suppose, some biscuity, light finger cake-like malt, and a tame earthy, leafy hoppiness. The taste is a big, confusing smack to the tastebuds - sweet, fruity malt, prunes and maybe some of their other dark-skinned pals, and a hard to define tartness, kind of salty at the same time, an underwhelming grainy maltiness, and some loitering earthy leafiness.

The bubbles are prevalent, but nowhere near obtrusive, the body on the lee side of a rather meek medium weight, and smooth in a hallow sort of way. It finishes a fair bit off-dry, the pale malt not quite willing to give further quarter to the tartness of the fruit.

An agreeable enough version of the style, given my lack of experience with it overall. Moderately sour, in that I could envision having another, without resetting my palate to stun.
