Hadn't had many smoked beers prior to this one, but my girlfriend really wanted to try this.
It was a golden yellow hazy color on pour and came with minimal head. Ciel lists it in the realm of weizen.
There was a smell of barley, banana, and oak/wood, which wasn't what I was expecting. Wasn't horrible, but nothing great.
The taste, on the other hand, was very good. While there was that smoked flavor, the taste of the alternate items, bananas and clove, were noticeable and delish.
Overall, this is something I'd like to have again and my girlfriend won't stop raving about it. Too bad it was just on tap and we will probably never see it again--unless we travel back up to Montreal.

Tap: Poured a hazy light yellow color ale with a small foamy head with OK retention. Aroma of smoked malt with light wheat malt notes as well. Taste is also a nice mix between smoked malt with also light refreshing wheat notes and very light banana bread ester. Body is quite full with good carbonation. Very interesting take on the weizen style. With some very good balance.

a: hazy golden-amber in color, topped with a head that gives average retention
s: full weizen body with a touch of barley complexity, good clove and banana aromas supplemented with a firm but balanced smoke aroma - more smokehouse than campfire, which I think compliments the typical hefe very well
m: carbonation appropriately lively with a lighter body that has just a touch of meat to it
t: flavorful hefeweizen-esque base with a dose of maybe caramel to up the body and sweetness, yeasty clove and esters meld well with a clean hardwood smoke flavor, long finish with a mild hop presence
d: high drinkability, good choice for a flavorful but heat-friendly beer

On tap at the brewpub. Listed as a smoked weizen.
Certainly looks like a weizen on the pour - its a cloudy deep yellow with a large fluffy white head that left chunks of lace on the side of the glass as I drank. Pleasing smoke aromas mix in with banana and mahogany. Kind of weird to get the smell with the typical character of a hefe, but it seemed to work well with the spiciness and made me think of a tropical wood. The flavour strikes the same notes, with the smoke dominating at the expense of the banana, which is the second most prominent presence. Good spiciness in the finish, and a nice wheat tang. Really neat, though I'm glad I only ordered a half, as the smoke started to get a little too much by the end. Billowing mouthfeel due to a active but soft carbonation.
Another interesting beer from DDC. They really know their stuff.

On tap at the brewpub. This is a new smoked weizen.
Pours a cloudy amber/gold, nice hue, very thick and chunky white head forms and settles down to a thick ring around the glass, thin layer, big chunks of lacing stick.
Smell is really neat, smokey, bananas and wood, honey, wheat, lightly spicy, some clove and pepper, yeast, hickory, really neat.
Taste is similar, smoked bananas, honey, wheat, a big of yeasty phenolics, a bit lemony, some wood, vanilla, really nice smokey character.
Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with medium carbonation. Light and refreshing, smoke character is light so works well with the weiss character.
