Imperial Coffee Stout aged in Islay Scotch Barrels.
Produced in limited quantity, our Péché Mortel spent several weeks cradled in precious Islay scotch barrels, imported from Scotland. The coffee and the peat marry harmoniously in a nectar that is as powerful as it is delicate. On the nose, scotch lovers will detect the aromas of peat characteristic of the whiskey produced on this island. Upon tasting, the amalgamation of coffee meeting peat and oak creates an explosion of flavour, all supported by hop bitterness. To be enjoyed slowly and sparingly. Slàinte!
This beer was first brewed at our St-Jérôme microbrewery in March of 2018.

On tap at Thin Man Brewery in Buffalo, NY.
This one pours a fairly dark brown color, with some tints of black, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells pretty wonderful on the nose - there's earthy and slightly sweet coffee, soft oak, a bit of scotch peat and smoke, and lots of fudgy chocolate.
This was really the only good variant this year. The scotch barrel does not overwhelm anything here, just adds a bit of spicy oak and light smoke, and props up the decent coffee flavor here. There's also a lot of nice chocolate notes here.
This is medium bodied, pretty creamy, and chewy, with a decent level of drinkability.
This brings the beer back to some semblance of being good again - I never would have thought that this would be the best variant for 2019.
