Poured from the bottle into a large snifter glass. First notch 3, second notch at the 5.
A real nice uniform creamy light coffee like head in terms of color and appearance. Creamy tiny bubbles of the pour, but head gets no bigger than half a finger. Body is classic dark walnut black/brown, somewhat see through but not totally. Spotted lacing around like leopard prints. Looks just great.
What happened to the nose on this thing? Where did it go? Off the bottle there was vanilla, coffee, molasses, even some sense of Brandy, in the glass I am getting next to nothing. Mild coffee sense, faint roast, but not bringing any creaminess. It's good but small. My drink isn't that cold let me tell ya!
Taste though is a nice mix of hop like bitter, kind of mild grapefruit, dried tobacco, and mild roast coffee. WOAH where was all this stuff when I had this on nitro?!?!?! Incredibly diverse palate filled with citrus mild grapefruit first and then char roasting malt. Coffee angle seems to come in on the finish, but hop sense dominates turning the citrus into a dried tobacco feeling even giving some residual grapefruit sugars. Texture has a very noticeable but tiny carbonation tingle, almost like just perfectly muted tonic water. It mixes with the citrus bent giving a tonic water feeling of quinine. It's not velvety but it's fun for the mouthfeel I'll give it that for sure.
I am blown away by the taste on this thing, never had a stout taste this incredibly varied and balanced on top of it. No wonder I can never find this beer everyone probably buys it cause it's just fantastic tasting, which it is.

Big thanks to tom10101 for this bottle...
A: Pours a deep dark black with one full finger of dark khaki colored head. The foam fades fairly rapidly, leaving a thin clingy layer of bubbles across the top of the beer. Excellent lacing as it drinks.
S: The nose is roasted malt, toasted chestnuts, milk chocolate, coffee, and a touch of sweet vanilla. Smells excellent.
T: This beer starts out sweet and creamy with milk chocolate, vanilla, and marshmallow. The coffee notes of this beer dominate in the middle, but the beer remains creamy. As it moves to the back end, I get a lot of roast and toast. It tightens up with big dark chocolate bitters, and burnt toast. It's wonderful.
M: Full bodied beer. It's sweet and creamy to start, silky smooth in the middle, and gets almost bitterly dry in the finish.
O: Excellent beer. One of my favorites. I can't believe it took me this long to finally review it. I need more of this as soon as possible.
