Poured into a St. Bernardus goblet. Dark as night with a brown head. Bad-ass, heady coffee/espresso smell - smells like the container on my coffee grinder after a week of grinding french roast beans. Fantastic smell.

Coffee, coffee, coffee. Dark, french pressed coffee. Not Maxwell House coffee. Not "water dressed in brown" coffee (to quote Ani DiFranco). Not Starbucks House Blend coffee - but COFFEE. This tastes and smells as if it were a very well-made, french pressed, "french roast" cup of coffee. Slick and smooth, with a an oily presence, as it should because it tastes like dark, french pressed coffee. A hint of smoke, which makes sense, because it tastes like dark, french pressed coffee. Slight bitter finish with a presence of dark chocolate -- like a good french pressed coffee. Have I said that this tastes like good, dark, french pressed coffee?

It's not something to drink all night. It's not something to drink all day. It's just something to drink at a point in time and that point in time is the present moment in which you drink it. It's very zen...and it tastes like damn good coffee!

I love this.

Big thanks to tom10101 for this bottle...

A: Pours a deep dark black with one full finger of dark khaki colored head. The foam fades fairly rapidly, leaving a thin clingy layer of bubbles across the top of the beer. Excellent lacing as it drinks.

S: The nose is roasted malt, toasted chestnuts, milk chocolate, coffee, and a touch of sweet vanilla. Smells excellent.

T: This beer starts out sweet and creamy with milk chocolate, vanilla, and marshmallow. The coffee notes of this beer dominate in the middle, but the beer remains creamy. As it moves to the back end, I get a lot of roast and toast. It tightens up with big dark chocolate bitters, and burnt toast. It's wonderful.

M: Full bodied beer. It's sweet and creamy to start, silky smooth in the middle, and gets almost bitterly dry in the finish.

O: Excellent beer. One of my favorites. I can't believe it took me this long to finally review it. I need more of this as soon as possible.
