Vibe: I lived in Athens for almost 7 years and this place has evolved, but it is hands down one of the dopest places to visit when you are in town. It's down to earth and packed in like a home cellar with a cozy feeling.

Quality: Let's face it, this is a bottle shop with a large collection so you have to be aware of some bottles that have been dry rotting on the shelves, but for the most part you can't miss. Most of the cooler beers are fresh and they appropriately shelve ageable beers.

Service: The service is great, not intrusive, but they care about what you're purchasing.

Selection: When Charlie was around this place had some unexpected goodies, don't expect any less now, but the selection seems to have died down a bit, or maybe I just became a bigger snob. Still hands down one of the best places to find odd ball beers.

Food: N/A

Overall: A lot of the other shops have really stepped up, but this is a must stop. 5pts holds a place in my heart, and I'm sure it will for you too.

This is a must stop in Athens. They have a great selection and always have Tropicalia in cans. I have been here twice and love searching for stuff I cannot get in Alabama. Lots of good beer to choose from and great service.

Killer selection, probably the best of ANY store I have ever been in. Lots of friendly, knowledgeable help asking if you need anything. Saw tons of foreign beers I have never even heard of. Place looks like a hole in the wall, but don't let the looks deceive you,,,,this place rocks.

I believe both 5 points locations have a great selection of beer, but I felt this locations selection was just a bit better than the one on the west side.

This place is a must go if you are in Athens. Seriously. It's a serve-all package store, with wine, booze, and cigars alongside the craft beer. This place has the perfect feel of a hole in the wall beer store, but much higher quality. The far wall is all cooler doors for craft beer in 6packs, 12packs, 4packs, cans, and bombers. A couple end-cap/corner displays of new bottles or featured deals, as well as two full rows of bottles and bombers. There is a ton of beer to peruse while you are here. Lots of local stuff, and apparently Georgia has a great distribution spray because they have shit from everywhere in here. At the end of the craft beer aisle, there is a beer chiller. It's basically cold circulating water that you drop your beers into to cool them off before you go, just in case you won't have access to a fridge, or are in a rush to cool them down. The staff was super-friendly and very helpful. This place is pretty damn awesome!

Very impressed with this store. I had found it after doing a search on this site and after reading the reviews decided this would be the place to start for some beers I can't find in Ohio. I was not let down. The selection was huge and some nice choices I thought I may only read about and never get to try. The find I was happiest with was the Westbrook Mexican Cake. Very friendly staff, couldn't have asked for more. Hope I can make it back next time I'm travelling to pick up some more gems.

This is one of the best place to buy beer (and other forms of alcohol) in Athens. My cousin owns a competitor on the other side of town and he'll readily admit the same.

Staff can be hit or miss, but most of them are great. Owner's fantastic, as well. Usually very friendly and helpful. A bit stand-offish at the absolute worst. But being in a college town of Athen's caliber will definitely take its toll on you some days. They have a big collection of really shitty fake id's that they've confiscated and they like to scribble mean things on which I find hilarious (though possibly libelous, to be honest).

Selection is very good, especially for where you are. Prices can be beat, but not by much. It's definitely cheaper at Total Wine if you're in the Atlanta area, but for Athens this is one of the better options.

If you're in Athens and you're looking for better beer than what you'll find at Kroger, this is a good place to start.

Wow. I went in while visiting the town, just to see if I could find something to have at the hotel while we were visiting, but wound up discovering the most extensive collection of bottled beer I have ever seen! Started at the far cooler, where there were three full shelves of Stone bombers, including the vertical epic from 09-12, old guardian, smoked old guardian, and RIS. Moving through the store, it was organized by geography, and the staff were very helpful in locating whatever I thought I would like to find.

As has been stated in other posts, I didn't even know that Mikkeller made that many beers! There had to be 6 full shelves, over 40 different Mikkeller products. The sours section was impressive, and the Belgian Aisle also had quite a selection.

Asked about a couple mythical beers, and while I found the Rodenbach Grand Cru and Sierra Nevada 30th anniversary, they didn't have Westy XII, Black Ops, Black Note, BA Bigfoot, or Biscotti Break.

Great selection of glassware in the Growler shop, and an amazing selection of taps (Enjoy By, Siren Noire, etc).

Will be back next time I'm in town.

The best beer store in Athens, and one of the best in the SouthEast. A phenomenal selection with new beers coming in almost every week. The staff is great with people specialized in knowledge for beer, wine, and liquor. The everyday beers are a little pricier than usual here, but the specialty and craft selection are about on par with every where else.

The bottle shop doesn’t look like much from the road but this is THE place for beer in Athens and beyond!

Vintage beer, rare releases, brews you won’t find anywhere else in Georgia… they’re all here. Plus full line-ups of every other major brand (that shelf of Stone bombers…more stuff than I've ever seen).

They have Lost Abbey Deliverance and Angel’s Share (got a ’10 Brandy, drinkable). Also a Harvest Ale 2002! Every Mikkeller you can think of, including the Black Hole series (I bought Tequila).

Pretty fair prices all around, $14.99 for those Lost Abbeys and $7.99 for Harvest Ale. Outrageous selection of bourbons as well, including New Holland bourbon aged in beer barrels.

Service was perfectly nice at checkout, and they have beer folks around the aisles. Along with Ale Yeah! Roswell, this is my favorite beer store in the ATL-GA area.

The best beer store I've ever been in.

Athens is a killer college town, we hit it once a year for a fun weekend. It's loaded with pubs & restaurants and everyone is laid back and cool.

I only discovered this shop on my last trip and can't believe I've missed out on it before now. I literally spent an hour and a half poking around the store and ended up with a very reasonable tab for the amount of items I bought.

In the same parking lot there's a draft building with 20 taps of quality brews you can purchase in three different sizes of growlers.

They have a second store in town too that I have yet to visit.

This place is worth a trip, make a weekend of it and be sure to stop at Trappeze Pub. You'll be happy.

Bottle shops don't get much better than this. Selection is excellent and quality is just as good. The service may have been the best I have seen. These guys are knowledgeable, affable, helpful and shared some of their more limited items with the their more beer savy customers. The shop itself was a little crammed but that just means they have more stuff. The prices were great as well. All items were either same as others or 50 or so less with some beer cheaper than I have seen directly from tap rooms. This is a must stop for any beer lover. I will definitely be stopping in next time I am up this way.

I had a beergasm. Single best beer shop I've ever been to. Enormous selection of quality stuff.

I've been to Specs and Whole Foods and other non-chain specialty beer stores across several states and this is by far the best selection of beer I've seen so far.

You wouldn't even be able to tell by the shabby (though artistic) exterior, but inside the shop is a beer geeks heaven. Shelves all the way up to the ceiling with bombers of beers I've never seen in most places. The sour beers section alone is pretty impressive. Three different vintages of Rodenbach Grand Cru. Every single Trappist beer, except for the Westvleterens.

Refrigerated and unrefrigerated six packs, single bottles, bombers, huge novelty sized bottles (notably, Chimay)... I even saw a growler from Rogue.

They also sell fresh growlers to go (3 different sizes) each priced at $4 for the bottles themselves and fill-ups are priced individually by beer. Around 20 beers on tap to choose from.

The staff were clearly beer geeks and knew their stuff in and out. Unlike what you'd find at a national beer chain like Specs.

Finally picked up a bottle from Achel (the last remaining Trappist brewery I haven't sampled). They didn't have KBS, but said they've had it before and even had a 3-year vertical keg tapping before... 3 vintages side by side on tap at their bar. Insane. They said when they do get KBS in bottles it tends to last less than a month.

No Dogfish 120 or Dark Lord, but it was worth asking anyway. Chances are if there's some beers on your want list, they'll have a few of them here.

My favorite beer store.

A tiny, cozy place packed to the rafters with beer. They're always up to date with new releases, and do their damnest to keep holes filled.

I'm most impressed with their selection of foreign beers. It seems like if it's produced, they'll carry it. I've never seen so many Mikkeller beers on the shelf at once. Also, this is one of the last places I can remember in GA still carrying Cantillon. (All gone now, sadly.) Looking for something adventurous, I was recommended an Austrian barleywine aged in Calvados barrels. It was incredible.

The staff are all craft beer lovers and any of them can give great recommendations. Prices aren't quite as cheap as some places in Atlanta, but then again, not many other places are either.

I'm most fortunate to have acquired my 750ml bottle of Fou'Foune here. They only got three bottles!

Literally the perfect bottle shop. The other location has growler fills, so I guess there's that, but the selection in this store is phenomenal. I never knew how amazing this place was until I moved away from Athens. This shop is the hidden gym of the south, I'd absolutely put it up against Brawleys or Sam's any day. Literally any beer in Georgia's substantial distribution plus some vintage ales. It may not look like much from the outside, but this place is a monster for excellent brews. I'd say it's worth at least a 45 minute detour.

Five Points is by far my favorite place to buy beer in Athens. They've got cool window paintings of different beer logos and a really chill atmosphere.

Their selection is out of this world, I find something I never knew they had every time I go in.

The staff are really friendly and helpful, too. They're very knowledgeable about the beer and willing to help. I had a broken wrist for a while and one of the guys asked if he could sign my cast. They also always insist on helping me bring my purchases out to my car. But maybe that's because I'm girl.

It's an awesome little shop and if you're ever in Athens, check it out.

Wow. honestly one of the best beer stores anywhere. i was told to go here by some friends, and wow i was blown away. the place is cool, kinda feels like a converted laundry mat. this is the place to go if you need anything alcoholic, but the beer selection is out of this world. the service is good with 3 or 4 employees always willing to help. they have anything you would want from a beer store from a solid selection of sours (i think they have their own section) to an awesome local selection. this place is crazy. that's all i can say. it is a must stop. i drove 3 hours one morning before class just to be able to be there when it opened to get a beer. great, great stuff here.

Stopped into Five Points Bottle Shop on the way down to the Hunahpu's 2011 release in Tampa. This place has a great beer selection! The staff was very knowledgeable and very helpful. The owner came over to start a conversation because he could tell from my beer choices that I was from out-of-town and we ended up talking beer for a a good 20 minutes. Charlie at the counter was also very helpful as well. He mentioned a place within walking distance that had Lost Abbey Angel's Share Brandy Barrel on draft. Fantastic beer and the mention was much appreciated!

If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by Five Points Bottle Shop. You will not be disappointed.

Very impressive selection The whole store, and the beer section in particular, is very cramped. The beer selection is made up of two ceiling height shelves and a full wall beer cooler. The area between the shelves is just very cramped. But considering the selection it's worth it. The staff is very knowledgeable and seem to genuinely love their jobs. They are very helpful if you have any questions, but aren't pushy and wont bother you unless you ask for help.I like the original store, but it is a little to cramped and crowed for me. However they will still get my business, but maybe more at their other store.

This place looks like a whole in the wall (like so many other great beer shops). The selection was great for the area. The only reason I do not describe it as exceptional is the lack of RJ Rockers (a brewery only a couple of hours away). I would have also liked to see a larger warm selection. Almost everything (except bombers was cold). We were traveling so we would have purched more if we could have purchased beer warm. The staff was very helpful and everything that was recommended has been very good. We think they gave us some sort of a case discout because our purchase did not add up to as much as we thought it would.

I live in Augusta, so this place it is an hour and a half each way. Why do I do it? Because 5 Points makes monthly visit worth every mile. The shop is small and mostly filled with wine/liquor. However, their craft beer selection is the largest I have seen in all my travels, which is saying something. If you have never been there, plan on spending at least an hour looking over their selection. The staff are extremely friendly and are very knowledgable because they are beer geeks themselves.

I have always been able to get a full selection of Terrapin, Sweetwater, Mikkeller, Founders, Avery, Lost Abbey, The Bruery, etc. This includes the rare stuff. If they can get it, they sell it. I have also been at events that they supply outstanding kegs, like KBS, Brandy barrel Angel's Share, etc.

I travel a lot and go to new shops weekly, but 5 Points remains my "go-to" guys.
