Large bar area to the right when you walk in, surrounded by some tables. Other seating to the left, and looked like some upstairs. Nice environment.
We sat down at the bar for lunch, and a couple beers. Our bartender was very nice, and prompt. They had about 6 or so beers on tap at the time. They had their usual offerings, plus Fuel, a wheat, and a Belgian Golden. Pretty good selection. Our consensus out of the 3 beers we tried was that they were all pretty good. Nothing mind blowing, but all solid.
Food was good. We both had seared ahi salads. Good portions, and not overly priced. Pints were reasonable.
This was a very enjoyable stop.

Sitting there now, first stop on my way to Churchkey. We lucked into happy hour, $3.50 beers they brew themselves. The porter and white IPA were on point. Great app specials during happy hour in a town that is usually quite expensive. Very nice touch... three massive soft pretzels with horseradish dipping sauce, free. Everyone drinking gets those, enough to fill you up alone. We had two beers, nachos and the pretzels for $13. Gr8 joint to stop and fuel up prior to hitting the bigger brew destinations.

I don't think Capitol City Brewing actually does any brewing; however, the place always seems to be hopping. It has a cool vibe. The food is decent. The service is attentive. The beer selections are pedestrian. Overall, you could do better, but you could do worse too.

I went to this Capitol City Brewing location on a Friday afternoon before most of the after work crowd showed up, so it wasn't overpacked, but it was pretty busy. They've got a really cool copper-covered bar with about 30 seats all around - these were mostly full. There was plenty of seating for sitting down to eat. I liked the big windows and being able to see the ductwork in the ceiling - made the space feel very open. Several TVs for watching sports.
I tried 5 of their beers, all brewed off site. They were decent enough, but not spectacular. Probably the best in my opinion were the Porter and the Stout. Of course the Hefeweizen was out, so I'd want to try that next time. Would have liked to see a good IPA on the menu.
More than anything, this was just a fun place! Lots of people in there getting the weekend off to a good start.

A- Bustling and a bit loud, but they had a couple tv's and nice big windows and that kind of thing.
Q- It was nice of them to serve my beer in a chalice/goblet, but the beer itself was not that great.
Ser- More or less friendly, but they seemed not altogether different from most chain restaurants.
Sel- Four permanent beers, three rotating/seasonals, but none of them were that great.
F- The fish tacos were pretty average. The soft pretzels were a nice touch.
Considering it's DC, I can't complain about prices.

Located on H ST actually within the 1100 New York Ave building sits Capitol City.
They normally have four yearly brews consisting of a Kolsch, an Amber Ale, a Pale Ale (Pale Rider), and a Porter. There are also some seasonals offered too.
Some beers are better than others but most aren't that great to begin with. The atmosphere at this location is fairly big, but a little crammed at times. It's obvious as well that the place draws in many tourists.
The food is inexpensive, but it's barely a step above your typical TGIF Benningans chains stuff. Service is a bit annoying and pushy but your meal will show up without any fuss, the staff do a little too much upselling and in your face "so how is everything"?? I dunnno looks like a typical frozen beef patty to me for a hamburger, was this suppose to be better than that or am I mistaken?
It is what it is.

Great open spaces making what would seem like a crowd look more dispersed and inviting. Large copper bar top right next to the fermentation tanks on a big island. This place offers samplers as well as pints directly on tap. I usually get their flagship Amber Waves. I've also liked their rotating offerings such as Fuel or Tripel, etc. I also usually order the amber chicken sandwich. I've noticed the quality has gone downhill these days in regard to food and beers. Service was laid back. A pretty decent microbrew pub in the DC area...

Stopped by here because I was downtown and wanted a locally produced beer. I had several of their beer offerings, I will review them separately, and a sandwich.
Capitol City Brewing has the look and feel of a TGIFridays or a Chilis. The place was very busy and has a centrally located bar with tables on different tiers surrounding the bar. They serve their beer, I think when I was there there were 4 different ones you could pick from. I had 3 of them. The food was good and the wait staff was about what you would expect from a middle-class feeding trough like a Chili's. The beer was marginal, but that really isn't part of this review. My waiter did give me a Capital City pint glass for free, just because I asked how much it was. I did enjoy my meal and beer at this place, its worth a look, just don't expect a conversation about beer or anything that will knock you over.
