Appearance: one inch head, dark brown in color, clear, moderate carbonation

Smell: chocolate both sweet milk and dark varieties

Taste: cocoa powder dominates with tastes of sweet milk chocolate, light amounts of dark chocolate and slight coconut

Mouthfeel: sweet start with a slightly bitter backbone, light bodied, moderate carbonation, bit chalky

Overall: I like this one a lot, but perhaps not as much as their organic fruit beers--almost like a good English chaocalte candy bar in liquid form. It takes on a great chalky--but pleasant cocoa quality to it. A lot more choclate taste than stout taste but definately one to get again--especially in the cooler months.

Poured into a pint glass...

Dark chocolate in color, half a finger head which disappeared quickly, left sticky lacing.

Smell is the most phenomenal chocolate smell I've smelt in a chocolate type beer... milk chocolate... not Bakers or semi sweet... just good old milk chocolate whochre is perfect for a milk stout..

Taste followed the nose but where it failed was it was a little tarty/sour. Good balance and carbonation with a good mouthfeel but I don't know if it's the hops or the yeast but the sour threw it off for me... as I kept drinking I guess I got used to the sourness cause it wasn't all that bad.

Overall this is a beer I would recommend you atleast try. It would be better to pair it with a meal or use it in a recipe.

12oz bottle poured into a snifter.

A: Very deep brown with some lighter chestnut hues. Two fingers of creamy beige head settle after only a short time, but it can be reinvigorated by swirling the glass. Lacing is sparse and spotty.

S: Milk chocolate and chocolate sauce are strong on the nose. Chocolate cake frosting. Slight roasty and nutty tones underneath, and perhaps a touch of cola.

T: Strong chocolate presence, just as the nose indicated. Milk chocolate, cocoa, hot fudge sauce. Very slight jammy raspberry fruitiness. Cola and a dab of brown molasses. Hints of drying charcoal from the roasted malts. Hollow hop bitterness provides some balance but adds no real flavor. Cola and roasted grain ride into the finish with a strong backing of milk chocolate.

M: Moderately thick in body. Lush, decadent, and very creamy. Light seltzery carbonation is barely noticed, but does provide some lift and bite. Fantastic smoothness.

O: A decadent dessert beer through and through. It stacks up well against anything else on the market right now, and its availability and affordability should make it a serious contender.

Fills a North Coast pint glass with a very dark brown (SRM 30-35) and dark ruby highlights. A thin, beige, creamy head quickly drops leaving no lacing.

Chocolate fudge syrup dominates, while light lactic aromas linger in the background. Warmth brings out toasted malt and strong milk chocolate.

Chocolate ice cream soda with modest sweetness and a long, dry, astringent finish. Warmth takes the edge off this beer, but does not add new dimension.

The body is medium to light with a soft texture and light, fine carbonation. Some alcohol and residual sugars are easily detected.

This is a nice desert-type beer. Chocolate is one dimensional. While enjoyable, this is a one-note beer.

Date Rated: March 30, 2013...
Glassware: Victory Hop Devil nonick...
Occasion: Easter Sunday--after 39 dry days of fasting...
Appearance: velvet black with chunky, brown head--the glass's tracings are spotty but true...
Aroma: lactic, milky sugars rejoice the nostrils--a cutting chocolate impacts the aroma--holy cocoa!...
Palate: vibrant, full-bodied and warming--a pleasure of milky mouthfeel; not heavy...
Taste: as the nose suggests, this stout delivers am ample dose of chocolate--robust in its profile while not posing as cake or pie...
Overall: A feast worthy of the wait, from start to finish; the oversized bottle made for a fast finisher in itself...

Appearance- thin but present head, beautiful dark brown color

Smell- reminds me of chocolate lip gloss that I wore in middle school. Definitely chocolatey, though.

Taste- chocolate, of course. I can definitely taste some of the alcohol, too. I'm getting an almost strawberry-ish taste right as I sip it, and there's some coffee in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel- not too heavy, carbonation is pretty up-front, seems to coat the mouth a little

I'm new to stouts, and to ratings on here in general. Definitely love this beer, though, it makes me want to try more stouts.

S: PURELY AMAZING CHOCOLATE STOUT!!!!
T: perfectly balanced stout and chocolate. Not too sweet not too stout.
MF: great body for a 5.0 abv beer. Good carbonation
O: this beer is amazing and is currently my favorite beer. I love it and I have bought 6 bombers of it in the past 3 days.
