Poured in a pint glass. Temp- about 55F( 12.8C). The stout is better warmer to bring out the flavors.
Very dark chocolate color with a 2 finger head.
Good aroma- rich chocolate-cocoa.
Mouth feel: smooth.
Taste: Deep, rich milk chocolate. Exceptionally drinkable. One of the best chocolate stouts I have tasted. Only 5%ABV. Quite a winter treat and superb!

$5.29 for a 550ml bottle. Pours out to a clear dark mahogany, forming a tall soapy tan head with very good retention and lacing. Moderate strong carbonation, ~3.0 carbs. The nose is redolent with tootsie roll fake chocolate smell, not really much more than that....Carob. The mouthfeel is medium-light bodied and somewhat cloying. The taste begins with tootsie roll, has some peanut in the middle, then tootsie roll in the finish. Very mild bitterness, quite sweet considering the lighter body. Minimal to absent roast flavor. Metallic finish with an aftertaste of saccharin.
This is a pretty gross beer. The obviously fake chocolate extract flavor doesn't sit well with the saccharin aftertaste and the metallic finish and the absolute lack of roast flavor. Would not buy it again or recommend it unless you're into "beers" like this. Ugh.

Good tasting beer, no aftertaste, smooth, great with pork, bacon, and deserts.
Good pour, head small, with good chocolate taste. Use a mug, very cold. I usually leave a small amount of water on the bottom of the mug, upside down in the freezer, to keep the brew cold when drinking

Poured from a bottle into a stout glass.
A: Dark, dark, dark. Medium brown 3 finger creamy head with plenty of lacing. Settled slowly leaving foam on the side of the glass. Leaves a nice layer of bubbles across the top as you drink all the way to the end of the glass.
S: CHOCOLATE! Rich, melt in the mouth dark chocolate! Are you sure this is beer and not a bottle of Hershey syrup?
T: Smooth. Bitter chocolate. Not too sweat. Yumm. Not much "traditional" stout beer flavor, but it's a really good taste. Taste lingers and aftertaste is consistant with the initial taste, just the chocolate flavor dissipates a little. Nothing harsh anywhere. Very drinkable, refreshing and entertaining.
M: Medium body, seems light compared to the color and smell, but that means you can enjoy more. NIce fizz on the tongue. Creamy but a bit less than other Samuel Smith stouts.
O: A delicious malt beverage with natural flavor added. If you're in the mood for chocolate then this will fit the bill! No really, I mean you won't need any candy, this beer will satisfy both a desire for a refreshing, quenching, delicious beer and calm your chocolate craving in the process.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: It created a head the size of the moon on my first pour. The head is light tan, and the body is very dark brown. A teensie bit of deep red-brown gets through when held up to light.
Smell: Chocolate right up front, cocoa nibs galore. Very sweet although a bit of roastiness hidden in the back. Almost like hot chocolate. Hops is very light, adds a bit of citrus.
Taste: Also very chocolatey. Some folks say they have a chocolate stout and leave out the chocolate -- Sam Smith did not. Somehow the flavors don't quite mesh for me. There's also some malt sweetness and maybe a little bit of yeast sourness. It's tolerable, but I think it needs something dark and charred to balance out the sweetness better. Or add a more rounded chocolate flavor profile. Just a little too sugary for me.
Mouthfeel: It's pretty thick and moderately bubbly. Leaves a bit of dryness in the back.
Overall: It's decent for the price, but like I said -- too sugary. Definitely a dessert beer.

Poured from a 550 ml bottle into a Sam Adams "perfect pint" glass. Code on bottle neck says SL14L1.
Appearance: Pours a dark blackish brown with some hints of ruby. Lots of rising bubbles and a solid three fingers of beige head with good retention. Leaves a lot of lacing around the glass.
Smell: A sweet and dark chocolate forward malty aroma. Dark roasted malts with big hints of cocoa nibs and dark and milk chocolate. Hints of coffee, vanilla, lactose, cream, burnt toast, caramel, toffee, grains, biscuit, yeast, and nuts. A considerable scent of sweet syrup and brown sugar. Subtle earthy and grassy hops in the background. Also a dark rum like scent of booze that adds to the sweetness. Smells like a decadent dessert.
Taste: Like its smells, a sweet and decadent dark taste of chocolate dark malts. Dark roasted malts with a huge taste of sweet dark and milk chocolate with cocoa nibs. Also tasting notes of cream, vanilla, lactose milk, and coffee along with notes of toast, grains, caramel, toffee, biscuit, nuts, and yeast. Added sweetness from maple syrup and some brown sugar along with some notes of dark rum like taste. Hops are pretty subtle with a little earthy grass towards the finish. A pretty good sweet stout taste.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Fairly sticky and syrupy but with a good creamy smoothness.
Overall: A very good chocolate forward milk/sweet stout. Good chocolate dessert sweetness that avoids becoming too cloying.

Poured into a pint glass from a bottle.
A - Pours a deep brown with ruby highlights. Creamy 1/4 inch mocha head with medium rings of lace.
S - Strong sweet chocolate malt aroma! Very reminiscent of chocolate milk.
T - Flavor profile is dominated by the chocolate malt. Very smooth and creamy with a definite lacto presence. Slight hop bitterness in the finish.
M - Thick bodied, but not like motor oil, with good carbonation.
O - Exactly what you would expect from the label. Great milk/sweet stout overall. One of thee best I've had. Highly recommended if you like milk/sweet stouts!
