Poured a 550 ml bottle into Imperial Pint craft glass.
A - Beer pour a golden yellow and has a barely noticeable haze. Decent carbonation and frothy white head.
S - At first whiff is malty, promising a sweeter brew and gratefully no skunk.
T - At first it regretfully seems like a very light beer then the sweetness hits and satisfies the mouth. The sweetness then turns over to some spiciness just shy of being bitter. Interesting if you ask me.
M - Light but not overly watery.
O - A superior pale beer, has the strengths of the style without being beer-flavored water. Overall I recommend.

Appears very pale yellow and slightly murky like a wheat with 1 finger white head and decent retention and carbonation.
S - I really like the freshness and grassy scents of this beer. It smells like a meadow in the springtime. Very pleasant for the style.
T - Oh wow. That is what I said to myself after taking a sip (or actually a big first gulp) of this beer. This beer has that very distinct European flavorings of the best German or Czech lagers you can think and can't quite be replicated in the US, but absolutely none of the off-putting skunkiness that often resonates in imported Euro Lagers. Incredibly sessionable and light with slight crisp finish and no dryness like you sometimes get with some over hopped pilsners.
M - wonderful for the style
Overall - I think this may be one of my new favorite session beers. I'll revisit this one quite often. This is a world class lager in my book. Probably the best Euro Lager I've sampled. Samuel Smith makes another masterpiece, and is a brewery that is certainly one of the best on the planet.

from now on every lager I taste will be compared to the bruerys humulus, so im sorry to all the well made generic lagers, you will never be the same to me. this one though, is quite good for what it is, absolutely not a mind bender, but a solid beer no doubt. pours dead clear golden with an inch of lasting white airy head. the thing about this though, is that theres a launch point, a central feature of my glass thats rocketing spiraling bubbles hurriedly to the surface forever, it wont stop, and its sexy. the nose is straight lager yeast, over a light malt body, no inspirational but well done. the flavor is the same, with some decent bittering hops and that crispness that any good lager needs. with one sip left in my glass, the bubbles are still sprinting to the surface, its so awesome. a littler herbal, a little hoppy, a true euro lager, better than almost all of them, plus its organic, so props for that. light body, super soft and clean, like a Swiffer. overall a solid brew, not as fun as the stouts and stuff, but a worthwhile offering that I would like to share with my Molson drinking father.

A- a finger of fluffy white head with major retention
S- plenty of cracker-like malt. also some sugary sweetness, maybe a touch of honey. hops are modest, but are spicy and a bit lemony. quite a variety of scents.
M- leveled carbonation that goes down smooth but is also dense enough to make a really balanced mouthfeel
T- hops present a kick with a high level of spice. it takes a few seconds for the malt to make an impact. slightly caramel-like sweetness that is quickly overtaken by citrus flavors, particularly lemon zest that carries until the very end.
O- not great by samuel smiths' standards, but that still makes for a solid brew. nice to see a lager that's a little more hop-centric than most.

The beer poured crystal clear with a light straw color and very thin clear to white head with very little, although attractive evenly spaced polka-dot lacing.
NO adjunct grains in this lager! You can smell nothing but pure light sweet malts and it is so refreshing not to smell corn or skunk. I get a hint of honey and light biscuit as well. So very nice.
The beer tastes as it smells for the most part, it's not overly complicated. With the hotness of the carbonation you get some of the hops but you would think that from the aroma that sweet would hit you in the face. It does not. It's so well balanced with the overlying hops that after the first few sips I mostly get a peppery lingering on the tongue from the hops which are not overly bitter at all.
Mouthfeel is light and refreshing with lively carbonation that really speeds along the honey aroma to your nose and the peppery hops to the outer portion of your tongue. The finish once again is mostly of mild black pepper and hops and moderatley dry. This is one balanced exquisite beer! Moderate to high carbonation.
Overall I am going to vote this in the world class lager realm. And maybe even one up them because it is NOT in a green bottle to get skunked!

Bottle: very solid, embossed 550mL brown bottle. Very old-school label, in a good way. A nice package all told.
Appearance: a vibrant golden yellow in colour with a decent-looking amount of carbonation. A small head pops up and settles to a solid cap. Limited lacing.
Aroma: a vibrant golden yellow in colour with a decent-looking amount of carbonation. A small head pops up and settles to a solid cap. Limited lacing.
Taste: much more controlled and better rounded than your average lager. Gentle sweet biscuit and caramel malts, grass hops and some spices to back up. Quite pleasant.
Aftertaste: heads a little bit down in the aftertaste - a touch of standard cereal grains come through, but still with a touch of those lovely crisp grass hops.
Mouth feel: a clean and crisp light body and moderate-to-high carbonation makes this a very easy-drinking beer.
Overall: generally, I am anti-"organic-movement" products, but with this beer you can really pick up on the clean, crisp and pure flavours. A very nice lager indeed. My only concern is that I still don't think a lager is worth this. Sure it's a damn quality lager, but it is still AU$83 a case of 12 x 550mL (2013). Ouch.

This poured a very crystal clear pale gold -promising. White feathery head that disappeared in seconds - 1st warning.. Aroma was mild, not very hoppy at all -2nd warning. Mouthfeel was mild, not flat, not overly carbonated.. just average. And that pretty much explains this beer -average in every sense of the word. The hops were almost non-existant. Tasted like a watered down Miller High Life without the hops and malt. As if the MHL is malty in any way. Considering the price I paid for this experiment (4 or 5$ for the bottle maybe? I forget, kind of like how this beer is forgetable), i'd take the Miller hands down every time. It's not that this Sam Smith brew is bad in any way -there is nothing obviously "wrong" with it. It just doesn't stand out at all or do anything "right". The malt is light as expected, the aroma is milder than expected, carbonation was right on -not high or low. More hops would give this some decent flavor -something it is lacking. It is drinkable but the question is.... why would I ?

It pours a very light clear gold with a white head that dissapates quickly. Lacing is nice once the head dies down a bit. Very grainy on the nose with a touch of hops and citrus. The taste shows a lot of grain up front, but then fades into a malty mildly bitter finish. The carbonation is ferocious, but it gives the lighter mouthfeel some character. I love that is is organic, but I just wish that there was some more body behind it.

550 ml (1 pint 2.7 fl oz.) bottle, no bottled on date present, poured into a Firestone Walker pint glass. My bottle is slightly different than the one pictured and says only Samuel Smith's Organic Lager Beer. My expectations are slightly above average, because I've come to really enjoy all the beers I've tried from this brewery so far.
A - Pours a clear yellow urine looking color which is typical of a lager. No real head to speak of on the first pour, got a nice sizzling two finger white head on the second pour.
S - Straight up organic malt smell. Doesn't smell like much, but definitely smells a hell of a lot more genuine than any terrible American adjunct lagers.
T - Smooth, very clean, malty, earthy, yet with a very defined and distinct fruity hop crispness. Very genuine, natural malt / hop profile makes this beer a pleasure to sip on. Probably the best lager I have tasted yet.
M - Smooth, clean, and crisp. Nice level of carbonation. Very well balanced. A delightful beer all around.
Overall, I remain impressed with the beers Samuel Smith's is putting out, and this is definitely a lager I would happily drink again, although I am not a big fan of the style.
Samuel Smith's Organic Lager Beer ---4/5.
