On draft at Brugge
Pours cloudy reddish pink with a finger of white fluffy head that eventually fades into a ring.
Aroma: Sour berries with a little wheat tang. Nice but nothing over the top complex.
First sip leaves me very disappointed after all the good things I've heard about this beer. A little tart berry up front, but a big sweet middle section makes me think this beer is supremely under-attenuated. Most of the sour comes from a medicinal vineger taste. Finishes with a bit of oak, but not very dry at all. A complete mess.
Medium bodied with at least good carbonation to accentuate what sour is there.
One of my biggest disappointments in a while after hearing raves on this one. My friend who is local to Broad Ripple told me this beer changed since they started brewing it in house. I can only hope so because this was a complete under attentuated mess that I struggled to even get halfway through.

reviewed from notes taken on 5/19/12.
poured into a hybrid tulip/snifter glass by barkeep at Brugge Brasserie.
Appearance: light red almost pink boided beer that is opaque & cloudy. It has a white head that stands about 1 finger high and about mid glass drops down to a small ring of head.
Smell: Fruity berries and sour / tart notes. Little bit of bubblegum and wheat in the nose that keep things interesting.
Taste: The first sip of this beer is like a tart punch in the mouth. The tartness is initally on the high end of moderately tart and then mellows to a moderately and very pleasant sour beer! The berries nicely balance to the sour as they offer a mild sweetness that does take away from the tartness. I get strawberry, lemon and raspberry fruit notes from this beer. Little bit of oak and funk to it on the back end of the beer as it warms. Its nice!
Mouthfeel: Medium body with light to moderate carbonation. Clean, crisp, refreshing, and super drinkable sour beer with a fairly dry finish to it. The mouthfeel of this beer compliments almost all aspects of the beer making it that much better!
Overall: I was really wowed by this sour brew. I really tried to get a growler of this beer to take home for my local tasting group. Thanks for a fantastic recommendation of a beer to try while in Indianapolis! Thanks Al (aasher)!

POOKA
Served in a snifter glass.
A: Reddish almost looking like ruby red grapefruit juice but with a lot more ruby. Slightly hazy, not much head with bit of lace here and there.
S: Wheatiness bubble-gum-clove hints with a acidic aroma of sour grapes.
T: Sour Sour! but good sour, very tart with a puckering first sip. This is almost overpowering at first, but it really grows on you, and after a few drinks you can sort out the other belgian hints here and there.
M: Crisp medium-light body that's very refreshing.
O: I opted for the black after this one. If it were a bit more calm I would have gotten another one, but if you just want one really tart-refreshing bier go for this one.
