This is still brewed! Had it on-tap at the Brugge Brasserie in Broad Ripple, Friday, Dec 10th, 2010.
Poured a great thick brown color with great head and good lacing. Very sweet scent from the malts, with a nice bit of spiciness and fruit in the nose. It has a huge thick malt flavor, deep and dark, with some wonderful fruit and licorice undertones. Goes down altogether too smooth for a 12% ABV beer (yes, it was listed as 12% this time around). Great quad!

The waiter warned me about this beer, "the crippler". I had my mind made up anyway. "Three of these and you won't be having the funnest party tomorrow," he warned.
This comes to the table placid and somewhat lifeless, a deep brown with soda highlights under inspection. No head or lace detected, though I think this is a beer-clean glass issue and not a beer issue.
Nose is insanely sweet but balanced. Large spiciness, candi sugar, rose hips, marascino cherries, and cherry pie-filling. Nary a trace of alcohol.
Taste is a cacophony of candi sugar, cherries in honey, just the deepest sweetest quad you've ever experienced. Alcohol heat gets heavier with warmth.
This beer is just so huge that its girth and walloping sweetness seem to get in the way of everything else. A nice attempt, but this one could probably be dialed back a bit...perhaps with age the insane sweetness could quelch, but at this point I think i'll be sticking to other Brugge offerings (especially with meals).

Pours a dark brow with cherry cola highlights. Off-white foam ebbs quickly leaving a thin ring of lace on the goblet.
Aroma has some marachino cherry, spicy coriander, dark fruits and some raisins.
Flavors of dark fruits, dates and figs, hint of cherry and some caramel and dark wheat bread. Hot medicinal alcoholic note becomes more prevalent as it warms.
Mouthfeel was excellent when slightly chilled. As it warmed became a little too "hot" but overall this is a wonderfully made beer that hides its ABV very well.
Drinkability was really killer. Drank smooth and flowing with a palate coating fullness and great variety of fruity flavors. Seek this one out if your a near Broad Ripple.
