As if I was aboard the SS Minnow, this trend-setting hefeweizen could keep me and couple of castaways in a nice altered state until rescue. Hey Wilson, come back! Come back!
Defintiely pours a nice honey color with more than an 1.5-inch head that dissipates faster than a young man's crush on Ginger from Gilligan's Island. The head disappears quickly after the pour, almost as fast as a small vessel falls off rader during a storm. The carbonation is average at best.
Hop smell is grassy like Maryann's skirt yet the flavor is more mossy. The remarkable thing about this beer is the pronouced pineapple flavor, which would easily help this beer compete in a fruit beer category.
Bottom line, I could drink this refreshing brew as a castaway. But as I write this review, I'm reminded that the price, at least for a Coloradon, could really only be afforded by Thurston Howell III. However, I would gladly pay it!!!

Med body, frothy yet slightly slick mouthfeel, fair carbonation.
Big wheat presence in the mouthfeel upfront with notes of banana and bubblegum.
Great pineapple juice note throughout, finishing clean and slightly oily.
Overall; solid hefe flavors with a nice flavor of pineapple juice, very refreshing.
A wheat beer with pineapple, perfect after a long day of surfing!

A- Solid brown murky haze, a very large amount of foam, that is a white kaki in color.
S- Smells of Pineapple juice straight from the can, mix with a Belgium yeast, ester smell, just a hint banana.
T- Light in flavor, just a hint of malt, with a sour, well pineapple taste. Taste like a Belgium hef, hints of banana, pretty taste wheat a lot better than your blue moons and your shock tops and a nice twist on a now a american favorite a wheat.
M- Very light in flavor, nothing harsh or interrupting in the whole taste, carbonation is very smooth and adds to blend the wheat and pineapple taste.
D- I liked this, and this is the first wheat beer I have drank in a while that I would honestly say I would buy again. It also looks like I was lucky to find this in winter at bevmo in huntington beach. I wish I could find another 6 pack and save for the summer. Good job Maui Brewing co hats off!

a: cloudy orange, leaning towards a light, bright amber color.. fluffy 2 finger head.. settles quickly..
s: yeast esters upfront..banana & clove.. slight graininess.. pineapple is slightly present..
t: again the yeast characters are upfront..fruity esters with a slight phenolic taste on tongue.. then you get the bit of banana & clove.. finish is slightly dry with a lingering clove bitterness.. pineapple isnt as present as i thought.. its there alright, just somewhat subtle.. tasty nonetheless.
mf: light-medium bodied with spot on carbonation..
o: a decent brew, especially for summer.. went down too easy!

Clouded orange golden body with a nice large bubbled white head, fine lacing spread across the glass. Aroma has a nice citrus flow to it with hints of tart pineapple around the edges. This is a pretty cool concept nice base wheat beer with Maui Gold pineapples. Flavors bring a nice fruity roll between tropical fruit/citrus blend with wheat beer base coming through. Phenolic mildly spiced character works well together. Mouthfeel is medium to light bodied even soft carbonation nothing off here. Drinkability overall it's nice to have some pineapple burps rather than the typical hop burp, nice experience works well.

Poured from can to a NBB globe. No date on the can.
A - The beer pours an amber brown color with a nice 2 finger white/tan head with good retention and nice lacing.
S - An interesting aroma of the hefeweizen yeast along with a fruity pineapple, banana, citrus character. Not what I'd expect from a hefeweizen but that's ok.
T - The beer starts with a light crisp wheat malt flavor. The yeast comes into play and provides the hefeweizen flavors with a stronger banana than found in the nose, a bit of clove. The fruit really comes through with pineapple, banana, apple tones. A mild bitterness throughout. Finishes crisp.
M - Light bodied and well carbonated. A little dry.
O - An interesting take on the style. I remember when we were in Maui last year my wife picked up a sixer of this and she really enjoyed it. I found myself enjoying this time around, too. Certainly a beer we'd buy again.
Note: This review was a re-post from my former account, jmkratt, which was hacked and I lost all my reviews...sorry for the redundancy.

12oz Can - Thanks to frenchy for this one
Appearance – Hazy amber colour with a large size fizzy white coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation showing and there is some fair lacing. The head lasted for around 5 minutes before it was gone and there are some floaties/chunks in the beer.
Smell - Grains/wheat, lemons, coriander/cloves, banana, pineapple, apples
Taste & Mouth - The beer has a high amount of carbonation and most of the taste is made up of wheat mixed with pineapple and a bit of coriander. I can pick up on the alcohol, which is strange. There is also a strong herbal taste and coriander/cloves and a hint of banana. It ends with a slightly tart spicy aftertaste.
Overall – I was hoping this would have a little more ripe pineapple taste. It's more of a unripened pineapple flavour going on. It's a good beer that I'm happy I chance to try, but I wouldn't seek it out.

Really trying hard to understand why they canned this one over the many good ones I've sampled at the brewpub. Pours traditional hefeweizen in appearance with color and haze. Nose slaPs you across the face with that pineapple-esque reek. It's almost foul. Palate again whips you with the pineapple funk and you try to notice the other qualities just to confirm it is in fact a hefeweizen. Finish is more of the same. Nobody will take the rest of my six-pack . Dear god someone pour me a big swell IPA, fast.

Purchased at Gravity beer market, Oly, WA.
poured from the can into my New Belgium globe
pours a cloudy, dark orange. medium head, low retention. lacing dissipates quickly. smell is of wheat, yeast, and a sour, citrus. Takes a moment to settle in the mouth and get the flavor past all the small bubbles. Sour, wheat, yeast...same as the smell.
interesting beer, just not for me.

Poured into a nonic.
Cloudy golden color with about two finger of wheat head. Great retention and lacing. Looks pretty exceptional.
Smells of some hearty wheat , some bready yeast, but these scents are overshadowed by the aroma of pineapple juice.
Just straight up pineapple juice followed by some hearty wheat and bready yeast.
On the sweet side, but other than that pretty typical of the style. Nicely carbonated, smooth and creamy.
Who put pineapple in my hefe??? Ok, so I clearly knew there was gonna be pineapple in this, and that's why I wanted to try it. The pineapple, however, completely overshadows everything else in this beer. Couldn't drink more than one.

Pours a nice hazy orange with a big, light white head.
Smells of astringent hops, slight metallic smell (from the water profile), a little bit of fruit comes to in at the end.
Tastes slightly sweet with some subtle fruit flavor. Not a lot going on in the taste. In fact, it's a bit boozy up front, which given the alcohol is odd.
The mouthfeel is OK. It is watery, which could make for a good summer beer had the flavor had more going on.
Hmmm, there just isn't much going on in this beer, and the up-front smell and flavor is not pleasant.
