The color is black, and the head pours a full thick head that retains very nicely and leaves some pretty incredible sticky lacing all over the glass.

The smell is malts and a hot of alcohol with something like licorice and a hint of bitter dark chocolate.

The alcohol is strong in this one. The toasted malt is also prevalent; this is probably the "maltiest" beer I've ever had. If you really give it some time on your palate the malt, hops bitterness, and light sweetness with really make themselves evident so that the complexity can truly be appreciated. Very nicely balanced.

The mouthfeel is thick and smooth with a pleasant alcoholic sting to it. A great combination of thickness, alcohol, bitterness and toastiness.

This one is a definite must.

a veritable black hole, light does not go far in this one. lacing it there - though i've seen this one do a bit better in the past - smell is malty bakers chocolate. yum. taste is so very well done. i enjoy this because it isn't super flashy in what it does, rather, it's a solid stout with a bakers chocolate bit of flavor, malt, hops, vanilla, finishing a bit dry . . . all assembled so wonderfully. sip and enjoy, the old man on the front is watching you, and i'm sure he's saying "slow down, take a moment"

Poured into a goblet

A - Pours a sexy completely black liquid, which liberates a 2 finger light brown head that slowly faded and left light lacing.

S- great nose of chocolate, mocha, light vanilla and light malt. great nose

T - Awesome wave of mostly the same as the taste. Chocolate, coffee and malt. Very nice.

M - Full bodied and lightly chewy. Drinks well.

O - After trying many very good RIS, this still satisfies and impresses. It is worth finding and drinking on a regular basis.
