Absolutly one of my favorite beers. I could taste fruit with a fruity smell on top of a pleasent yeasty flavor. Well blended with little bitterness in the after taste. This is another beer that I will keep in my fridge when ever possible! My all time favorite American,"Belgium Style Golden Ale". This should be one on the top 50 American Belgian Strong Ales. In fact, it should be in the top 10 for American Belgian Strong Ales.

A: i thought a beer could not be more gold and then i saw this one being poured. came out with a clear white head too it, so beautiful so bright like the sun. funny thing too is it made a diamond design in the foam settling in my beer. the beer in its self seems to be alive, just subtle, not too jittery.
S: Has that citrus sharp Belgian unique aroma too it, can't ask for anything better.
T: Nice sharp entrance too it, goes right down the pipe and leaves no trail to hate on. almost can taste every ingredient that makes a beer sour in here... you have tangerine, lime, lemon, citrus, peach and so much more. honestly love it so much. high in carbonation tho, so if not a fan, stay away.
M: one you could just sip on for hours and hours and hours :)
i have too say overall this beer is just fucking fantastic, i have been living my life in one big lie this whole time, until this beer told me the truth. Thinking that i was a huge fan of IPA's was nice and all, and hell i got a lot of common folks saying the same thing, but in reality that just was not me. I am not gonna say that i hate them because that would be a fib as well, i enjoy IPA's, that is a fact. BUT I LOVE BELGIAN STRONG PALE ALE'S !!!
thank you pranqster.

This one of my favorite beers. Great taste and smooth! I love the flavor! When I first had it, I feel in love with it! I am happy that Publix started to carry it! I have only had in bottles. Even the bar that I discovered this greatness at only severed in bottles. If you are out with some friends, pick this brew up and have a taste!

Pours a deep golden orange color with a tall fluffy white head that slowly recedes leaving behind spider webs of lace on the sides of the glass. Nose is sweet and fruity with notes of perfume and bubblegum. Fairly full-bodied and quite smooth in texture. Taste begins with flavors of sweet honey nectar and a good amount of spice (mostly coriander) followed by some yeasty notes. Some warming alcohol comes across towards the finish balancing the initial sweetness very well. I had never heard of this beer before noticing it at the store and deciding to give it a try. And, what a pleasant surprise it has been! This beer is simply fantastic and will now be a regular in my fridge.

Poured into my trusty tulip. Bottle date unknown.
A: Pours a clear golden yellow with a creamy white head that measures 2 fingers. Great retention and moderate lacing.
S: Yeasty, grainy, malty, mildly hoppy, lemony, and spicy.
T: Lemon banana bread.
M: Lighter body with tight, fizzy carbonation. Creamy with a somewhat dry finish. Faint feeling of clove resin.
O: $6.99 for this 4 pack is beyond a good deal. Love this brewery and their attempt at the style.

12 oz from Total Wine roseville.
A - Beautiful golden hue, with a two-fingered head. Dissipates nice with a lacing.
S - Pears, bananas, cloves, and pear esters.
T - Excellent: Light pears, stronger notes of bananas, cloves, honey, slight sugary-esters, ending with a small, crisp bitterness.
M - Again the offset of the sweetness with a bitter kick in the end is great.
D - A phenomenal beer. Nice color, smell, and offset of sweetness. Not sure it can be done better.

Wow I love North Coast, but I didn't expect this! Dark hazy amber color with a nice initial head - retention isn't great, but stays creamy. Aroma is thick and heavy with sweet fruits and, for lack of better words, Belgium :) I can't say the taste is otherworldly, like the similar Duvel, but still exceptional. It really has that Belgian character, unlike most American Belgian-style blonde ales I've had - fruity and sweet with some spice - refreshing, still thick and creamy. I with there was a great head on it, as that would really make each really silky, but the head touching your lips then sipping the ale from under it and getting that feeling of love in a glass. I'll try for a better head next time. I'd like to try this back to back with Duvel for kicks.

A "yeasterly" blew up from the south and I complied. The beer has deep, hard winter grain fragrance and floral, dense, caramel-vanilla sweetness. Duvel-Pranqster, Pranqster-Duvel... Imagine spit-roasted Duvel-infused pears, somehow, with lots of fat dripping off of them and you have Pranqster. Imagine Pranqster shaved, finely buttoned and repressed, and you have Duvel. Utterly convincing in its girth... fat, chewy texture defines abundant floral, sinewy richness.... wow! What a beer! How can you pass something like this up? I ordered it from my wine-obsessed wholesaler and it magically appeared... Thank you NCBC! (good at cleaning out the asbestos-laden breathing canals...)

Poured into sturdy chalice. Poured gently so that there was less than 1 finger of head. Head dissapated quickly leaving a nice lace. A beautiful hazy orange-gold color. Great spicy aroma. Fantastic tasting beer with a well balanced spice flavor. Well rounded, full body. Extremely drinkable. On the strong side for a session, but since it's sold in 4 packs it's just the right amount for sitting next to the river in summer. Or snuggled warmly with a book on a cold night. Or anytime, really. Truly a classic.

Had this beer at the North Coast Brewery 09/22/10 in a snifter glass.
This beer has a foamy white head with fairly large bubbles. It gets the scent across very well, which consists of banannas, cloves, honey and a moderate amount of apples. I could sniff this beer all day.
This is simply an amazing beer. It actually tastes like everything described above, along with an herbal spiciniess that lasts through the finish. It's extremely sweet and ever so slightly hoppy. The light carbonation provides a perfect smoothness and makes this beer very easy to drink. There is so much going on here. It finishes with a clean finish and not at all dry.
At the end of the day, I could drink this beer all day. This is a truly fantastic beer and everyone should try this at least once.

I purchased PranQster at Coffee On The Corner and the first time I had it was poured from a bottle into a wine glass. I butchered the pour and it ended up being mostly head.
I had another this past week from a bottle into a Tripel Karmeliet tulip glass. The pour was far more successful, making the overall experience a whole different matter. It has a golden color and a very pleasant amount of carbonation. I enjoyed every sip and would highly recommend it!

12 oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. The color is honey gold and cloudy when glass is hoisted to eye level. Bubbles climb the side of the glass with minimal head. What head is there is a beautiful white. Smell is distinctively Belgian. Is it the yeast? Smells sweet like candy, fruit, with some black pepper. Taste has slight banana, ripe fruit, hop bitterness, black pepper. Mouth feel is smooth, good carbonation. The 7.6% is masked very well. I could drink this beer all night.

Pours to a thick white head on top of a darker shade of gold for the style. Thick sweet malty smell with a buttery yeasty scent as well, and faint notes of pepper and citrus rind. The taste is heavy on the malt profile with a strong belgian yeast character, finished by a hoppy citrus note. Crisp clean mouthfeel, and very high in alcohol, be ready to drink no more than 3 of the 12oz before retireing... it is a strong beer, excellent beer.

Pours a very cloudy orange color and has a small white head that dissipates quickly and has a nice slow fine carbonation. The aroma is yeasty and fruity and overall very alluring. The taste is every bit as yeasty as the smell and there is a explosion of tart fruitiness that covers up the alcohol well, but I did detect a bit of alcohol in the aftertaste. The body is a bit thin, but appropriate for the style. This is a damn fine Belgian ale.

I'm a firm believer that taste changes over time, specifically with beer. This is my second review of this brew and it has taken almost permenent residency in my fridge. However I'm relunctent to admit but my first taste of its complicated concontion i was quick to say NEXT! On my list of brews to experience before I kick the bucket. Here is my review.
A- Golden medium to heavy champagne like carbonation, depending on the batch. Head most often not prominent as i would like dispates rather quickly.
S-Biscuity, hints of alcohol soaked fruits, pinapple, bananna and pears come to mind.
T- Tropical fruit, clove and warming alcohol. Excotic Belgian yeast drench in melting pot of excotic flavors of fermented fruit that is more tart then sweet. Theres a good balance here that i've learned to appreciate.
Recommended beer to try and give more than one chance I'm glad i didnt write it off and came back to it. I think i just wasnt acustomed to belgian beers. This is one of my favorites.

This is a really good beer that I will pick up whenever I can find it (only major problem with it).
Goes down well with a nice fruit aftertaste. I have yet to find a North Coast brew that I haven't liked. A review from a non-beer "expert," I highly recommend picking this up if you get the chance.

Bought in the 12 oz brown stubbie with a marvelous 17th century drinkinf scene on the label.
In appearance the beer is a lovelly deep golden colour with an everlasting pure white head, great swirls of carbonation.
Oh my what a fine aroma this beer has, wonderfully fruity with banana predominating..coriander present..very fresh smelling.
A lovely fizzy sweet fruitiness in taste, banan and coriander( slightly over ripe banana)..sweet sherbet great stuff.
Wonderfully creamy but with a fizzy kick.
A very drinkable Belgian style..I loved this beer..will by many many more.

Pours a deep golden color with a nice thick white head that lasts. It has that wonderful Belgian farm like smell that only comes for a belgian yeast strain. The flavor is quite amazing--they nailed this style for sure. This is yet another American beer that is more like a Belgian than an old one that has been on the shelf from Belgium. The carbonation is very high as expected, and the beer finishes dry. It also has a decent body making it quite a full beer. Seek this one out--it is quite amazing. Terrific beer.

Wow! This one blew me away. I was expecting a good ale based on the reviews, but wow! Fruit and honey notes. Strong alcohol at 7.8% and a nice feeling afterward. Belgian Ales are my favorite and I like finding an American beer that is up there with Chimay and Duvel (which are of course, gifts from God).

Presentation: 12oz fat twisty with a black&white of a bunch of fat jolly beer drinking blokes. The cool part is that we spotted a photographic style head that is a bit out of place. A guy on the right hand side of the label stares at you with a beer (the brewer?).
Appearance: Hazy, bubbly gold. The rushing carbonation creates a foamy white head that sticks slightly.
Smell: Horsy, animal smell (a common Belgian yeast trait) with notes of dry malts.
Taste: Definitely spiced, with coriander most likely. Sweet malt, then the spice, turning a tad grainy. A warming alcohol is present and hides perfectly amongst the malty mouth-feel. You can feel its 6.9% abv strength, yet it is highly drinkable. Finishes sweet.
Notes: For a lighter coloured Belgian style ale, this kicks the dregs out of Duvel. More character and complexity than their exports could ever dream of. So if you like Duvel, or similar, you will be in bliss with this brew. Available in a 4-pack for about $7 US.

Poured into a chalice, Pranqster poured a hazy deep gold, with a super fast fading white head. It looks slightly thickish.
The aromas are pure Belgian. There is a yeasty quality to the aroma, the smell of which just makes me think Belgian beer. There is some malt to the nose, a slight spiciness, some earthy aromas, and a hint of maybe some lemon.
The taste and feel of this beer is a winning combination. There is a wheat-like feel and taste, sweet malts, some spice, banana, coriander, citrus, a touch of sour, and then finally, a sweet finish. A great many complexities going on in this glass. The finish is fairly dry, and the feel of the beer is good.
This is a top notch offering from North Coast. The price for a 4 pack is good, and a great substitute for some of the more expensive Belgian offerings.
