Notes:
Flemish style sour ale was initially brewed as a Belgian style quadruple ale. Oud 15 was aged for two years in second generation red wine barrels which previously held our Jaspers beer. Blended and steeped with Montmorency sour cherries and bottle conditioned with Belgian candi sugar, Oud 15 represents the culmination of 15 years of brewing, and is worthy of the commemoration.

Poured from the bottle into a tasting snifter.
This is a thick beer, but I never would have guessed how high the abv was. I'm getting some nice fruity notes, perhaps cherry along with a nice sour note. There is a funk that I associate with darker beers. Just enough sweetness to balance out the sour flavors. I really enjoyed this one.

Thanks to jerz for sharing this one at GRG1313’s tasting.
Bottle # 489/506.
Pours a murky orange-brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is sour and tart with cherry, wood, and acidic aromas. Taste is much the same with cherry and woody flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with solid aromas and a great flavor.

A - Pours a very dark ruby red color that looks almost garnet brown in color, a very thick and creamy ring surrounds the tulip glass; swirl the glass and it clings to the sides and gradually oozes down the sides.
S - Lots of barnyard funk - white grapes, red tart grapes, horse blanket, and light green apple.
T - White and red grapes, delicate oak tannins, black cherries, moderate and balanced tartness. Alcohol warming is minimal.
M - Heavy medium body and velvet smooth on the tongue with no carbonation.
O - For the ABV rating of this beer, it's deceptively well hidden and more so than most if not all beers I've ever had in this range...impressive at the very least.

750 mL bottle, thanks Joe!
Pours a murky dark brown/mahogany with a thin, transient tan head. Strong nose of cherry flesh and skin, slightly tart, trace vanilla sweetness, brett, quad dark malts and burnt sugar; very nice blend of Flanders and Quad notes. Flavor is heavy blend of sweet and tart, moist oak throughout and a warming alcohol presence in finish. Tartness of cherry skin and brett blended with sugars and vanilla of quad is a pleasant surprise. Thicker body with lighter carbonation. Could use a little age but a pleasant surprise.

Shared by BucketBoy. Thanks Joe.
The beer is dark brown with virtually no head. The aroma offers sour cherries, oak, funk. Definitely smells like a strong Flanders red. Lots of alcohol throughout the flavor. Nice flavor, but this would likely improve with some time in the cellar. Notes of vanilla and a balance of sweet and sour cherries. Really nice.

Bottle shared by Steve I think? Served in a snifter at Sarah's birthday bash.
A - Tan foam settles to a thick collar, wisps, and no lacework. Murky raisin-colored body. Pretty solid considering the high ABV.
S - Sweet funky brett clausenii, with nice fruity notes. A mix of lactic sourness, oak, and a mild spicy dill character that I often get from beers aged in oak for a long time. Some cherry skins, a bit of sweet candi sugar and dark fruit malt backdrop. Alcohol is quite well-hidden.
T - The taste is a bit heavy on wet oak and lacks the balance of the aroma. Lactic, with a bit of mild medicinal brett and tart cherry in the finish. Not quite as sweet, with a bit more fruity yeast presence.
M - Smooth, medium-full body, with extremely well-hidden alcohol. Dry and oaky finish and very easy to drink. Pleasant medium Belgian-style carbonation.
D - Definitely more wild ale than quad, but with enough malt to put this squarely in the Flanders tradition. I liked this quite a bit, even when I didn't want to believe the hype. I'd totally drink this one again, even though it's a bittersweet reminder of Bullfrog's better days as a brewery.

Big thanks to paiged for picking this up!
A: The beer pulls out much like a quad: purple in color with a small light brown head. The head doesn't lace much, or stick around for too long, but it's there. The color has hints of red as well, probably from the cherries. It's murky and dark, with a decent amount of bubbles holding the body together. 4.5
S: The aroma is straight Flanders Red all the way. Big cherry notes with some booze and a hint of vinegary tartness. Sweet, but the tartness makes the mouth water just from the scents. You can tell early on that this is going to be a knock out beer. 4
T: The taste brings out the best in quads and flanders red. Big boozy character, first of all, but not as big as you'd expect from a 13% ABV beer. The tartness and delicious cherries cover the booze well. Other dark fruits, and a graininess I attribute to quads is there as well. Candied sugar, blends with the cherries well. Not medicinal or faint in any well. There's a ton going on here, but it is all extremely well balanced. The fifteen years of brewing experience that went into this beer is showing. The tartness leaves a wonderful taste on the palate at the finish. 4.5
MF: This one is a doozy. Thick and rich body with a lower than average, but appropriate level of carbonation. The drinkability is ridiculously high between the sourness and sweetness from the cherries. I feel like I'm guzzling it down. 5
O: Boy oh boy did this live up to the hype. I really wish I got to try more of Bullfrog's sour beers, but I can say Pizza Boy has a great future ahead of it. I love getting these high ABV sours from time to time. Wish I had another bottle of this to age. 4.5
