Thanks to tenderbranson69 for sharing on 2/13/11.

This brew pours a hazed to cloudy copper color with a finger of big bubbly yellowish stained head that holds fairly decent. A webbing of lace forms along the glassware in a sticky pattern. A light swirl strengthens the cap.

The aroma of this brew is very orange-like. It forms a scent that is both rind-like and sweet at the same time from a combination of caramel malty sweetness. A light touch of sulfur and grassiness emerge as the brew warms up.

The taste includes the light sweetness of caramel malt which is slightly familiar and barleywine-like. A light touch of sulfur is evident along with a bit of brett'd funk. It is modestly bitter with orange rind flavors on the back end with an increasing amount of fusel alcohol character.

This is a medium bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. Quite drinkable and bold in alcohol with a pleasant contrast of residual sweetness verse rindy bitterness. Overall a pretty good offering that is outside the box. A hop head would hate this brew, someone looking for serious funk would also be disappointed but for what it's worth it's a pretty good brew.

Thanks to tenderbranson69 for sharing this cellared bottle from '09- poured chilled into a taster and refilled.

The color is vibrant apricot with gentle haze and thick rocky light beige cap with sticky lace and good head retention- the bead is tight. The smell is fruity and bretty with mild spice notes and earthy hop underlying the mild medicinal odor. The hops have been usurped by some funk from the wild yeast added. The feel is dry and bitter with some sugar , but comes off as dry spicy and warming with moderately high carbonation and slight alcohol influence on the palate -brett dominates.

The flavor has a strong spice qualtiy with earthy hop flavors in the initial taste and lots of brett tinges interlaced among the slight caramel malt flavors. The light drying effect from the dank astringent hops and alcohol is augmented by the funkiness from the wild yeast. The hops continue to provide the bitter flavor however most of the citrus notes from the original beer are lost. I liked this - a good take on wild IPA, but I bet it would have been more enjoyable fresher - the funk and hops work well in this beer overall

Thanks to tenderbranson for sharing this 750 mL corked and caged bottle. It has close to a year and a half under its belt.

A: The IPA is orange hued, a hazy color, has large head. Over three fingers of off-white head came with the first pour, although moderate lacing followed.

S: Two observations: brett isn't as strong as I expected and the hops fell off like I expected. A bretted IPA raises an interesting conundrum. Do I drink it now or later. In this case, the brett has been slow to emerge while the hops have moved towards barleywine territory.

T: The hoppiness, which isn't a strong suit of Edgar to begin with, has fallen off. The citrusy flavors have gone syrupy, mixing with the malts to get thick. While I expected that fall-off, I was expecting that the brett would step into the void. The bretty dirtines

A-pours a lightly hazed deep amber color with a creamy off white head.

S-the nose has notes of sweet tangerine assertive hops as the brett is softly integrated behind being slightly leathery.

T-this has a malt presence the nose did not have, earthy malts play role as the leathery brett lies behind. the back end adds the hops, light citrus aspects with a soft bitterness.

M-this has a full syrupy body with a light carbonation and soft clean finish.

D-well balanced ipa with a nice refreshing citrusy finish and well integrated brett presence.

Poured from a 750ml bottle into my Southern Tier tulip glass. It poured a murky orange/amber color with an active and foamy white head. The head retreated to the sides of the glass and left some decent lacing as I drank it.

In the aroma I get pretty much an even mix of hops and brett. The hops come through with some citrusy, grapefruit, pineapple juice notes while the brett gives it more of an earthy, almost basement like quality. They went together better then I expected though and I kind of enjoyed it as a nice twist on an IPA.

The taste shows a little less hoppiness and more brett. More of the musty, earthy tones show through wit ha very modest funk to it. The hops are there and provide more of a grapefruit like bitterness in the finish and some very slight tropical notes up front. Like the aroma I actually thought it worked better then I expected it would going in.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied with carbonation being just a little below average for an IPA. Drinkability isn't bad, it was an interesting beer for sure and the flavors came together better then I expected. I liked it as a twist on an IPA and was cool to try, but I'm not sure I'd buy it often though.

Appearance: Took a while to get the cork out; pour is a murky yellow-orange, appears to have lots of sediment

Smell: Lots of off brett flavors (dirty socks and mold) and fruity hops, the two do not work well together in this one. Also a chemical/metallic aftertaste

Taste: Off flavors of brett and some big juicy hops with alcohol and metal

Mouthfeel: Medium body and heavy carbonation

Drinkability: This one went down the drain

Still have yet to have anything really drinkable or desirable from this brewery

Bottle. Pours a hazy medium orange/amber with a thin soapy head. Beautiful retention and look in general. Nose is of a deep brett, nice coconut and tropical fruit tones. Kind of faintly sugary, pretty enticing. Rich and lush in the mouth. Bright but understated hop presence, rich caramel malt, tropical fruit, and a deep brett. I dig it. Very good actually. Similar to Wild Devil of course, but this is a bit fuller in the mouth and with more bold flavors. Nothing off about it. EDIT -- I knocked this down a few points after finding some medicinal flavors that started to develop with age.

Thanks to Mike for sending me this quite some time ago. I figured I'd let the "wildness" take over a bit more before opening it.

A: The cork is very difficult to coax out of the bottle, but eventually the pour is orange with a thin off-white head.

S: Very fruity and brett forward on the nose. The tropical fruit hop character is still there, but there's a ton of hot alcohol aroma coming through. Some old gym socks (not in the good, Drie Fonteinen way) and a sort of solventy/chemical note too.

T: When you get the hop flavor, the taste is enjoyable. Unfortunately, that's only a small portion of it. Those flavors are of grapefruit and pineapple as well as mango. Some earthy funk along with grass and straw. Again, a harsh alcohol and chemical character.

M: The body is medium with an intense carbonation and a very dry and astringent finish.

D: Unfortunately let down by Bullfrog on this one; this beer was really all over the place. The wild IPA idea is one that interests me, but I'm not sure how well it actually works.

Thanks to Andrew for the rare Bullfrog tick.

Cloudy and copper hued, well carbonated with a thin cap of lasting head.

The nose is almost entirely musty brettanomyces. Pineapple and dirty socks, a hint of solventy alcohol. There isn't much left in the way of hops on the nose.

The palate is astringent and harsh. Booze and grain husk, bretty fruitiness (pineapple and mango). Medium in body with an intensely bitter herbal hop finish.

Pours a nice orange copper color with a very large white head that sticks around for some time and really clings as it goes down. Nose is a pretty good dose of fresh citrus hops alongside some really earthy, funky Brett. The taste is a bit more subdued, with some of the bitterness balancing out the Brett a bit. Still quite funky, but more restrained. Nice, dry and slightly bitter mouthfeel. One of these days I'm going to have to finally make it up for a Bullfrog bottle release. I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

Tasted from bottle obtained in a trade. Pours cloudy orange with a thick beige head that lasts for quite a while but finally leaves heavy lace. I really like the nose, with heavy brett funk, light sour fruitiness, some hops, and an almost plastic band-aid aroma. The flavors are a little bit closer to a traditional IPA with the brett underlying. There is good citrus and malt flavor with a bitter finish, but the brett ties it all together. It is fairly full-bodied and somewhat sticky with somewhat lower than average carbonation and a long bitter/funky finish.
