A-Poured a very nice light golden amber hue that was slightly clouded. Two-finger head left a fine lacing.

S-Rich fruit and honey, wheat bread. Apricot and peach, citrus--esp. orange, plus brown sugar and spice.

T-Very pleasurable blend of flavors, and quite sweet, but inoffensively. This tripel blends a rich bouquet of fruits that meld well together. I've never tasted anything like it.

M-Very rich, but not cloying. I half-expected a syrupy molasses consistency, but it is rather smooth. Olfabrikken has done a good job evening out heavy, sweet flavors with light, satiny texture. Carbonation is present, but light.

D-Very enjoyable. I had this at a tasting, and finished off the leftovers--I was surprised there were any.

Exceptionally delightful tripel tasted at Maduro in Madison, WI. Many thanks to Maduro and Shelton Brothers for putting on the event and supplying this rare treat.

Presentation: Attractive 750 ml bottle. Labeled in Danish or some other sweet looking Viking language but as they say it's all Greek to me.

Appearance: Pale, slightly clouded gold with average carbonation and a lasting but thin white lacing.

Aroma: Olives. Really, the first impression I got from this beer's nose was dirty martini. It was like sitting down in front of the garnish dish at the local watering hole. Following came more typical Tripel aromas of tropical citrus fruit and even a little spice.

Taste: Initial blast of smoke is followed by tropical fruit and finished with floral spice.

Mouthfeel: Dry. Converse to most beers in this style and especially attempts that aren't' of Belgian origin, this brew is not particularly sweet or heavy. More often than not I find the flavor and aroma of Tripels to be quite pleasing but am turned off by the heavy, sugary body and sweet finish. Olfabrikken has managed to maintain great aromatic character and some depth of flavor with out filling the beer out with wither sweetness or booze.

Drinkability: Through the roof. I had to order myself a 750 after the tasting ended. A very fine beer.
