A- Pours a very clear yellow with a little over a fingers width of head. Moderate lacing.
S- Floral hops and alcohol are the first thing that hits the nose. There's a sweetness quality from the malt and perhaps some light fruit.
T- Lots of cereal malts in this one. Herbal hops and some honey as well. Very Sweet. I enjoyed the initial taste, but the finish turns really sharp from the alcohol.
M- Mouthfeel is nice. Medium body with a good amount of carbonation. A little sticky.
D- There's no way I could have another. I find it to be just a bit to sweet and to boozy, it just seems out of balance.

Part of my north-of-the-border haul, purchased at La Halte A Malt in the picturesque village of L'Assomption, Quebec. Poured from a 12-ounce bottle into Spaten mug. One word: gorgeous! From the head to the aroma, from the color to the taste, a beautiful beer; three fingers of vibrant white mousse; grainy aroma with hop highlights; medium-plus mouthfeel reveals full-bodied flavor;terrific finish leaves me wanting more; even the bottle is a beauty; this one's worth the 300-mile drive alone.

Slightly hazy gold under a big head that settles to a heavy film, only some lace.
Nose is sweet malt offset by mild hops, some breadiness and a whiff of alcohol. Maybe a little honey.
Rather gentle to drink, subdued hops give lingering bitterness. Generally sweet and bready. Honey and fruit present.
Decent overall, but doesn't stand out from the pack. Manages its alcohol well, most tasty than boozy. Easy drinking.

Medium gold. Two fingers bubbly head and visible carbonation rapidly rising up from the Duvel glass' etching.
Sweet aroma, honey with light grain.
Same sweet taste, honey with light sweet grain. Floral hopping present but less aggressive than I might like. Hot finish.
Despite noticeable alcohol this is actually pretty easy drinking for the strength, though I couldn't do more than a bomber.

Les Trois Mousquetaires Maibock has a tone like an ideal spring afternoon. Its golden colour blisters along the sides and bottom of the glass (though turns up bright and sunny when held up to the light). It comes served with a massive whipped cream topping and hundreds of bubbles that hover and are raised up like tiny flying saucers being sucked into a strong updraft.
The aroma, which frankly smells like little more than lightly toasted white bread, is actually quite rich and pleasurable provided you can appreciate beer solely for its basic fundamentals. This scent of clean pilsner malt is complimented by low melanoidins, a faint whiff of noble hop spice and florals, lemon juice, as well as some considerably impactful alcohol vapors.
This blond lager has the kind of subtle flavour profile that would drive Procter and Gamble nuts - they couldn't resist adding artificial flavours to something this plain and simple. While it's true this doesn't have the stuff to turn heads, its grainy maltiness is so remarkably real, rich and wholesome. It is a lager lover's lager... punched up a notch.
The taste has a distinctively dry, cracker-like maltiness. Though permeated by prominent alcohol notes, a hint of honey flavour, sweet corn and an occasional, very minor pinch of peppery spice serve to sufficiently mellow things out. All in all, the palate is left immersed in airy floral and lemony notes and a grassiness that further dries things out. Very agreeable.
As is typical for the style, Les Trois Mousquetaires Maibock is a beer that leaves out all details save for the most practical. While it offers only the bare essentials, these are not only among the finest quality but also apportioned very generously. It's a good thing this brewer has a penchant for German styles because his beers epitomize those traditions masterfully.

A - Pours a pale golden colour, thumb of light fluffy head with solid retention and nice sporadic lacing.
S - Nice sweet grassy notes, sweet corn, wheat, hints of citrus rind and a hint of apple juice.
T - Much like the nose with the grassy notes dominating, surprising amount of bitter citrus rind, toasted crackers, bready wheat and a the touch of apple juice comes through on the finish.
M - Lighter bodied ale, a tad prickly and a touch of dryness on the finish.
O - A fantastic brew, light and refreshing yet surprisingly bold for the style. Flavours are pronounced and are certainly a great way to ring in the spring. Well worth a try and I will snatch up a few extra bottles before they disappear.

Handsome 750mL bottle from the LCBO, part of the Spring 2013 release. It's April but snowing so a beer that fits the changing of the seasons is in order for today. $6.90.
Poured into a tulip glass. A hazy honey golden brew, with a billowing head of a couple of inches that settles into a thin sticky ring. Good lacing on this.
Nose is citrus, herbs, bread, biscuit, noble hops, a bit of honey sweetness.
Very nice indeed - the honeyed bread provides a nice counter to the citrus and noble hop bitterness. Went down extremely well, yet had some complexity to it.
Carbonation is a bit sharp, medium bodied.
Very nice brew for this time of year, like a pale spring morning still clinging to winter's chill. There's sweetness and bitterness working together. Might get another bottle or two.

Hazy pale yellow body. Large eggshell head, moderate retention, patchy lace. Looks like a weissbier with less foam. Floral and yeasty bread dough aroma, like an amped up pilsner or helles, with a hint of honey. Mildly sweet with doughy and cereal flavours up front, and lemon zest, then a spicy/herbal finish. Moderate bitterness. It drinks like a stronger, more flavourful helles, or even pilsner on the lower side of bitterness. Medium bodied with relatively low carbonation. Rich, substantial mouthfeel, but not heavy or thick. No alcohol heat. Full-flavoured but approachable and very familiar.
