On-tap @ Brixx.
Ruby red appearance with slight lacing that retains well. This is a very pleasant beer, depending on your mood as it is a huge smack in the face with very citrusy hops that carry through the aroma and taste. Nowhere near balanced, but still a very nice DIPA that any hophead or any big beer fan will enjoy.

Thanks to Glenn for sending this one! Reviewed from notes. Poured from bomber into a TBBC pint glass.
A: Deep gold with orange highlights. Very hazy with lots of hop floaters in suspension. Less than a finger's worth of white head, and fairly low visible carbonation.
S: Citrus (orange) hops, caramel bready sweet malt, and a bit of dank and resin hops underneath.
T: Sweet malts with some caramel character, a soft citrus, resin, and grassy dank hops...all without being particularly bitter.
M: Heavy body for style, a sticky mouthfeel, moderate alcohol presence. Fairly low carbonation sensation.
O: This wasn't bad, but it completely fails to stand out from the pack. The hop floaters don't affect taste, but they don't look pretty. There was too much caramel malts for my preference, and hop flavors got a little muddled. All that being said, it was still enjoyable, and I wouldn't hesitate to drink another if it was offered.

A heady thick but opaque coppery orange that, despite its thickness shows a brilliant clarity, this already has a certain beauty about it. Add to that a thick tan head just over a finger tall with a heavy, dense thickness that fades to a craggy foam and leaves sticky rings and patches of lacing, and it's a beauty.
Resin with some sweetness to it comes off the nose. I have to let it sit to see if it will come out more strongly and what else I might find. Floral bitterness continues to pour out, coupled by citrus rind and balanced by caramel. Very nice, and even more so as balance is further improved by a light, chalky dryness from a not-too-pithy element.
This is certainly a tasty, hoppy IPA with excellent balance. The interplay between hops bitterness and malty sweetness is where you want to be with this style, allowing for malt flavors to complement and keep raw bitterness from going overboard while letting hops take over and shine. This is a very well-brewed beer.
A bit of dryness pulls through with each sip underneath a solid medium, almost full body. It's got a nice smoothness and doesn't give up crispness to get it.
This beer makes me want to try more from Foothills, and I have to thank JCam9981 for the chance to try it.

650 mL bottle poured into an Allagash chalice.
Appearance - Hazy and doesn't produce much of a head even with a vigorous pour. Builds at the very end. It even gets darker as more sediment flows in. Orange body with chunks of white residue floating about.
Smell - Citrus and some tropical fruits. Lots of sweet malts. Equally dominant as the hops, or perhaps the tropical fruits and sweet malts just enhance each other.
Taste - As malty as it is hoppy. Lots of residual sugars. Same citrus hop, less of the tropical fruits. Malts dominate immediately after the initial flavor. Bitterness builds and even turns grassy in the finish.
Mouthfeel - Heavy, too heavy for me. Overly sweet. Medium carbonation and moderate bitterness.
Overall - Just too sugary for my tastes. "Balanced" doesn't really apply. Run-of-the-mill east coast IPA.

A: The beer is clear amber orange in color and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high white head that died down, leaving lacing on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: A blend of aromas of citrus hops, tropical fruit hops and caramel malts are present in the nose. The tropical fruits become a little stronger as the beer warms up.
T: The taste is similar to the smell and has a moderate amount of bitterness. Bits of sweetness are noticeable from the underlying malts.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has a good balance between the malts and hos and also hides its alcohol very well.

Poured from a bomber into a snifter. Pours a nice cloudy orange red with a white head. Smells of piney and floral hops, the balance is awesome. Tastes of lots of earthy bitter hops with a bit of an alcohol taste. Beer is carbonated correctly, medium bodied, but still one that can be thrown down for awhile. Overall, a very good beer.
