Poured from a growler into an Over-sized Wine glass. Shared with Klym before he left to Norcal for law school. This was all made possible by the very generous BA KingKong. Cheers man, enjoy your package!

Review from notes, drank Monday afternoon.

Twist-cap growler about a week old. Review was from first crack.

A: Rusty orange body with coppers and golds shining through the edges of the glass. Creamy pumice formation of white to slightly off white almost grey bubbles. The copper body is very photo-esque.

S: A very spicy hop nose gives into light corn syrup notes. Really deep concentrated scents of cane sugar sweetness that certainly gave a corn like note in the end. This isn't like your cheap addictive Popsicle, this is a candy caramel malt bomb with a refined sweetness and deeply embedded kettle hops. Light carmel corns fuse with latent alcohols.

T: Up front light herbal tea hop with Candy corn middle. Very clean refined malt sweetness that never comes off cheap or artificial. Orange I fused caramels with a parsley hop garnish.  There is s light flavor transition from candied to citrus zests of lemon and oranges, but not much else. A good tasting three tone beer. Hazelnut orange hop linger.

M: A flavor matching light medium body with a light carbonation that I can best describe as sugars dissolving. No syrupy coating sensation or grainy sugar presence. This is the proper mouth for a sugary malt centric brew.

O: This is a good brew for what it is: a sweet malt with inclusions of herbal hop teas. This really is a sweet tea dipa. Comfort food dipa with a theme of sweetness. What is to be found in the beer is quality, but I can't help but long for a more dynamic brew. I can appreciate this beer for what it is, and it is very drinkable. However, a heavier contrast from a greater hop presence would have done well. No complaints, but I think this is a good beer with potential for significant improvement. Points for having crazy invisible alcohol despite ABV.

Poured from a bomber into a snifter. Pours a nice cloudy orange red with a white head. Smells of piney and floral hops, the balance is awesome. Tastes of lots of earthy bitter hops with a bit of an alcohol taste. Beer is carbonated correctly, medium bodied, but still one that can be thrown down for awhile. Overall, a very good beer.

22 oz bottle poured into a snifter at cellar temperature.

L – Medium amber color with a 2-finger foamy, rocky, cream-colored head. Nice retention and some great sticky lacing. Clear with lots of bubbles.

S – A nice mix of hop aromas including pine, orange, and peach. There are some bready and caramel malt aromas here, as well.

T – It follows the nose nearly exactly. It starts off with a solid backbone of sweet bready and caramel malt and progresses to a smooth hoppy bitterness with mostly pine and also some grapefruit, orange, and peach notes.

F – Medium-bodied with decent carbonation, a chewy and sticky mouthfeel, and a bitter, dry finish. Bitter citrus, fruity, and piney hops linger for a while. There’s maybe a bit of warmth from the alcohol, but it’s extremely well-hidden.

O – This is a nice DIPA. It’s not overly complex or groundbreaking but it’s a very solid example of the style. It has a nice balance between the malt and hops and is extremely drinkable especially given the ABV. If you like DIPAs and can get your hands on it, it’s worth a try.

A: Pours a nice clear orange with a tall fluffy tan head. Head fades slowly with a nice island remaining. Heavy on the thick fluffy lacing everywhere.

S: Nice citrusy aroma. Grapefruit and oranges primarily. Bready malt. Some pungent pine and resin in there too.

T: Again, lots of citrus. Sweet oranges counterbalance bitter grapefruit. Kinda has an orange marmalade flavor to it in a way. Sweet bread and caramel malt. Wave of bitterness in the finish with quite a bit of resin. Maybe hints of pine in the finish too. Lingering oily pine resin in between sips.

M: Medium-heavy body, goes down nicely.

O: Very nice DIPA, surprisingly balanced. Reminds me a lot of DFH 90min, just a bit bigger/hoppier/more bitter. But in the same vein, well balanced and sweet. Not a hop bomb by any means either. It works quite well, very enjoyable.

A - Clear dark amber with a good head and lacing.

S - A bit of a soapy nose? Light hoppiness, some graininess and a strong alcoholic tinge.

T - Spicy, not terribly bitter for a DIPA and medium sweetness. Pine and grapefruit hops.

M - Hard carbonation but the body has some moderate heft and smoothness.

D - Feels like a bit of a different IPA - booziness and balance makes this feel more like a sipper to me.

Foothills Seeing Double IPA
22oz bottle into a tulip
no bottled on or bests before date (but there is an absurd amount of sedimentation sitting in the bottom of the bottle)

A: Pours a dark amber orange with 1.5 fingers width of slightly off white colored head. Its fairly translucent, with a small amount of sedimentation suspended in the glass. Leaves a moderate amount of really cool looking, beehive lacing.

S: Interesting aroma. Piney hops are the most prominent, but there is a somewhat off aroma, like rotting citrus fruits. Some sweeter, malty notes. Aromas as a whole are pretty weak though.

T: Piney bitterness, spicy hops, bitter citrus rind, an herbaceous character. A bitter hop bomb for sure. Much better than the nose implies, and none of the off notes that I got in the aroma come out in the taste. Hints of the malt backbone to keep the hops in check. Not a lot going on besides the hop bitterness, but its still quite good.

M/D: Medium bodied, fairly big carbonation for the style, has a drying finish similar to certain dry wines. ABV is completely masked. Drinkability is good but not great.

O: Overall, somewhat disappointing as I had pretty high hopes. Its a good beer, but the palate profile is pretty one dimensional, and there are certainly some off notes in the aroma. I would drink this again if it were available at a bar/restaurant with a limited craft selection, but with all the quality options available at any craft beer store I dont think Id buy a bottle of this again.

22 oz bomber poured into imperial pint glass

A: Aggressive pour leaves a massive, super creamy slightly off white head, like whipped cream, beer is crystal clear golden(!) orange, head fades a little faster than I hoped leaving not much lace (which is to be expected at almost 10%)

S: Interesting hop aroma, has some fruit to it, also hints of pine, and a bold spiciness, definitely hints at a strong hop presence

T: Flavor follows the aroma pretty closely, although the fruitiness comes through a little more, which in my opinion is a benefit, I don't like too spicy and resiny double IPAs, that spiciness does come through too, the malt provides just a touch of very light caramel sweetness, which helps balance the flavors, alcohol comes through but not too unpleasantly, doesn't have that super caramel-resin combo that I am sick of

M: Body is actually fairly light, carbonation finishes with a nice tingle but doesn't burn your mouth at the beginning which when combined with hoppy beers can be unpleasant

O: Has aspects of a DIPA that you'd expect and some that are a little different, nothing totally unique but well proportioned for such a strong beer
