Stopped here this past weekend while in Asheville and was not dissapointed. Had the best selection that I have seen in a grocery store as well. Being from SC its a huge improvement. Anyway they had a good selection of belgians on the left side of the cooler, and it moved onto more american brewers.A good many rogue and flying dog products.Ended up picking up some Anchor OSA and a 4 pack of terrapin's big hoppy monster. Overall good selection, and will return again sometime here soon, or whenever I am in the Asheville area.

Generally my first stop in Asheville. If you know what you want, and can skip the service of other places you can save a few bucks by going here. They have some local bottled offerings, and about the same amount of growlers as other stores. I have found local special releases here at a significant discount. If you look around a bit you can find beer stuck in different places throughout the store. The only drawback is it is a grocery store, and does get busy. I'd say avoid it around lunch/dinner time at all costs.

Between here and Brusin', you can find just about everything that can be had in western NC. The beer guy here can be very helpful, so don't be afraid to ask. Most Pisgah bottles available. All Highlands are here. Some growlers, but that's been hit-and-miss. Hit this place after Asheville Pizza and Brewing and heading into town. I can bring the family here and they are happy milling about the store while I hit the beer corner in the back. Good food, too. Look around the beer section as well. There's a Pisgah rack a little back towards the main part of the store that's easy to miss.

It's hard for me to make a complete asessment of this place because I've only ever stopped there for the beer and not the food, though it looks like it'd be a great place to get some tasty foodstuffs. That said, they have a great selection of both cold & room temperature beer, as well as growlers of several local breweries. Last time I was there I scooped up a growler of Pisgah IPA, which was both delicious & well priced. Service has been good as well. The same dude has been there every time I've been in, and he's been very friendly and willing to help out. Definitely worth stopping in if you are in the area.

As many folks know, the beer market in North Carolina is constantly changing since the cap was lifted from 6% to 15%. While things are still changing, Greenlife seems to be doing the best job in Asheville of keeping up with the many new beers that are coming in and making as much room for them as possible. They have two dedicated guys that work in the beer section and both of them are knowledgeable and have a passion for beer. I only wish they could increase their cooler size to accomadate the entire influx of new beers.
As far as selection, they are the best in town right now. Ommegang, Orval, Duvel, Chimay, St Bernadus, Achel, Allagash, Westmalle and several other belgians are represented. They also have the Rogue XS line, Victory HopDevil and Golden Monkey, Great Divide bombers, and Dogfish Head 90 minute and Midas Touch.
They are a work in progress, but as I stated earlier, they are well ahead of the pack when it comes to beer selection in Asheville.
Edit to add that I just came back from there. They have added Great Divide Titan IPA, Celebrator Dopplebock, Avery Beast (15%), and a few others

Greenlife is a piece-o-cake to find just North of I-240 on Merrimon. The problem can be parking as this is a very popular store.
The beers are in the far right corner and somebeers are placed in the middle of the store near the produce and some others on aisle end caps. Most of the beers are cold, but some are sitting on the floor or stacked on top of the cooler or even at the end of the wine shelves. Be sure to look around, otherwise you may miss something good.
The selection is pretty darn good, while they do not have everything available, they are pretty darn close to having everything. The prices on some things are the best in the state. They do not seem to be following the trend in the "Organic" store sales of charging a premium on the beer aisle.
The beer guy (sorry I don't know his name or title) was present during my visit and knew what he was talking about. A breath of fresh air. He directed folks to good selections and things they were looking for with ease. We talked about some of the beers and a few he had not tried, but he did at least have a knowledge about his stock. The thing that keeps the service a bit low is getting through the checkout. A bit on the slow side for my tastes.
I'll certainly hit Greenlife my next time through town!

I drove up to Greenlife from South Carolina and I was not disappointed at all. The store is just a little north of I-240 and has its own parking lot. The beer is the very back right corner of the store. They have a good selection that includes Rogue, Samuel Smith, Highland, as well as a good variety of Belgians. There were two staff members stocking beer while I was there and they both asked me what I was looking for and gave me decent recommendations. Prices were average, usually about $8.99 or so for a six pack from American craft breweries. The only thing I found annoying was the very cramped space near the beer cooler. Other than that though, they have a lot of beer to choose from as well as a whole store full of organic food. Highly recommended.

Well Greenlife is simply awesome. I actually drive to Asheville just to go here. Fantastic selecton of local brews, pretty much every craft you can get locally, great selction of Belgians, good singles cooler, and Tons of local growlers. Not to mention pretty much every Great Divide, Rogue, DFH that can be bought in NC! Staff is always willing to help, and will order anything they can get that they don't have. The store is a bit cramped which takes a little getting used to, but you will find everything you need right in the back left,Truly a great place to visit. As a side not, the best organic grocery I have ever been too!
