December 2007 - Chefs Pantry out of business!
Jan 25 2006 Beer shelves filled up. Chilled beer. Mixed 6 packs from a singles shelve - 3 bottle minimum. The selection (200 beers) is what I consider good. Most folks want beer locally and a little extra markup is acceptable considering travel time and cost.
Nov. 15th 2005 Chef's Pantry has 150 brews on the new shelves and have added a walkin cooler as well as offering chilled singles and 6 packs from a reach in cooler. Vince has a new way to bug his wife Christy. He takes a sixer of Bell's Two Hearted out of the chiller when he heads home. Christy is expecting their first child and has been put on a strict diet on non-alcoholic beverages! Although not every six pack will be broke up for single bottle sale, enough to make a nice mixed six pack or two will be available as singles. They are looking to push the selection to around 200 brews.
July 27, 2005 I was in Chef's Pantry today and noticed that several beers above 6% are now available on the shelves that now hold 80+ different beers (no Macros - they are available @ WalMart across the street! ). They continue adding new beers each week. At the wednesday night beer tastings they usually feature 3 or more brews ("something light" eg. Blanche De Chambly "something dark" Belhaven Wee Heavy and "something unusual" Coopers Extra Strong Vintage Ale) paired with something from the specialty food offerings: chocolates, deli meats, awesome cheeses and much more. One of the patrons shared with me that she remembered having the Coopers Vintage in Austrailia in 1991. Owner Vince Ryan, a former homebrewer, has a good taste for beer and is a very helpful to anyone wanting to know about beer - he has got to know his selections and offers his reccomendations freely when asked.
Only a few of Missouri's brewery offerings have appeared on the shelves due to wholesaler's limitations. Many Imports, Microbrews and most recently the bigger beers including the Belgiums are available. A expansion will add about 1/3 more floorspace and Christy and Vincent are planning on adding more shelve space for beer and some cooler space as well. Mixed sixers will be offered along with this expansion.

Over 50 beers nearly all imports and micro-brews and that is just after 3 days. I picked up a 6er of Rogues and a few singles. As they upgrade their liquor licence look for them to carry 6%+ abv imports like Duvals. This will grow and they want to emphasize local Missouri brews (OFallon, Schlafly, and Little Yeoman will soon be added) A family operation, Vincent and Christy Ryan are both trained and experience chefs. Having worked the coperate grind in Atlanta, Georgia they now run a nice specialty food shop with fine selection for everyday and those special occasions. Hours are 10 am to 7 pm
If your looking for them whether for their fine cholates, deli food, or the best selection of Beer in this little Mid. Missouri community look for them across from WalMart Super Center Hwy 63 S behind the Gas+ station.
Vincent does some homebrewing. Both Christy and Vincent travel the midwest bringing back fine fare to our little community.
Thanks to Dave from MASH (Missouri Association of Serious Homebrewers) for the headsup about their selection

This place is a bright spot in a part of Missouri that is otherwise devoid of good beer. The owner is a homebrewer and a great guy. In addition to beer this place has great cuts of meat and home made sausage.
I was in the area in the summertime and during some week the shelves got a little bare. The owner said that they don't keep the shelves as well stocked in the summer which was too bad.
The selection that was there was great though. One of the few places I've found to get Schafly's Barleywine.

Chefs Pantry keeps getting better and better. Once sporting a small selection, it now boasts a nice variety considering the area and size of town its located in.
They recently bought the space next door and filled it with good beer and wine. A nice selection of Unibroue, Rogue, Bell's, etc.; no crappy American macros taking up space, either. Hell, with them carrying Two Hearted alone it will save me quite a few long trips. I would still guess they are limited by the local demographic and distributors, but they are fighting the good fight.
The store is advocating craft beer, and I support that.
