Pours a clear golden copper color with a fairly solid one inch cream head that dissipates somewhat quickly, leaving spotty lacing.
Aroma is laden with melanoidin character, caramelized malt, buttery toffee, slightly nutty, with a mild floral hop finish. There's a bit of metallic tang.
Flavor reveals much more of the metallic tang, which underlies caramel malt, toasted breadcrust, leading into a slightly bitter, dry finish. A bit of malt sweetness and floral hop flavor becomes evident as the tang subsides.
Body is moderate, with moderate carbonation and a bit of grainy astringency. Alcohol warmth hits the belly.
Overall, there are some off flavors...or maybe the wrong type of hops were used if that flavor is hop derived. Was hoping for more malt complexity for the style.

12 ounce bottle poured into a pilsner glass.
A: The pour displays a nice golden yellow, slightly hazy, with a finger and a half of an eggshell head that stuck around long enough to make itself comfortable. Lacing abundant all the way to the last sip. A real beauty.
S: Initially I get wafts of clover honey, followed by baked bread, finished with some floral notes presumably from the hop varietals.
T: The taste is of honey, caramel malts, bread crust and earthy hops. The finish is slightly bitter that lingers long after the swallow.
M: Body is medium, carbonation is good. Alcohol presence is minimal even after warming up a few degrees.
O: I don't often drink this style, but it is something that should be enjoyed more often. My first Christian Moerlein brew has me optimistic for the rest of their selections.

Pours a nice golden color. 1 inch lacing which remains throughout. A roasted malt scent at the tip of the nose. Quick note of alcohol as well. Mouthfeel is medium to almost thin, but very smooth. Over all, I like this style and the beer. Will drink this one again.

Enjoyed from the 12 oz bottle in a pint glass. This maibock pours a brilliant clear gold color with a moderate white head of dissipating foam that settles to a thin pool and decent ring with little lacing. Nose of fresh baked bread, sweet caramel notes, and floral hop. Tastes follow the nose with moderately sweet caramel notes mixed with a light bread flavor and a floral and moderately bitter hop note. Crisp mouth feel is nicely carbonated and lively with a slight dry finish. While I love Moerlein, this is a bit too hoppy to be equal to the German originators. A solid, sessionable, drinkable lager with a lingering hoppy aftertaste.
Cheers
