Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tulip.
A: Dark amber hue. Pours about a 1 and a half finger, frothy, white head. Settles slowly, leaving a foam blanket, and some really nice spider web lacing as you drink it down. Head renews with each pour.
S: Italian bread, with a little hay and wood.
T: Very hoppy, very pungent, with a little bit of honey, tangerine, and oregano.
M: Bitter with a very slight sweet balance. Full and syrupy texture. Coppery aftertaste that linger throughout.
D: The bitter and pungent qualities will dictate a slower plodding experience.
Atmosphere is pretty good. Nice appearance including a frothy head and some decent lacing. Nose is bready and woody, but a little shallow. Hoppy and pungent flavor, with hints of spice and citrus. Well-balanced. Overall, this is a good quaff.

Lazy Magnolia Brewing Company - Timber Beast
My first brew from Mississippi, another state notch!
Look - Poured into a goblet this pours a hazy deep caramel with some orange hues. It sports an inch sized foamy head that dissipates slowly and leaves lots of lacing.
Smell - Bready rich malt with a nice forward resiny hop overlay and a hint of rye.
Taste - Creamy sweet malt is pushed back by rye, which is them almost immediately overpowered by grassy bitter hops. After this it is almost metallic or astringent for a short period of time.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied, chewy, smooth but bitter and more dry than sticky. Not overly boozy but obviously 9% so there's that. Good drinkability.
Overall - The poor rye gets crushed by bitter hops, but as a DIPA this is not surprising. Solid DIPA, would recommend but would not say that this is as rye heavy as it could be.

To my knowledge this is my first beer tried from the state of Mississippi.Poured into an oversized wine glass a slight hazed burnt orange infused deep golden with a half finger slightly off white head,I like the color it just looks like a big hop monster.Aromas of citric and tropical fruit-like hops along with big alcohol sweetness and caramel malts, the hops win out but you know it's a brash beer.Sweet caramel and alcohol notes are the first thing I notice, the caramel doughy flavors are big, there is a hefty dose of citrusy tropical fruity hops wich is nice, not bitter at all.Not as sweet as most of the style but it's got some sweetness,a couple of these and you feel it.Better than expected to be honest, well done.
