Notes:
Jefferson Stout, Lazy Magnolia's original Sweet Potato Cream Stout, is Lazy Magnolia's version of the ideal Southern-Style Stout. Jefferson Stout is brewed with sweet potatoes and lactose (milk sugar). The sweet potatoes provide the background to an impressive taste with added notes of roasted chocolate, coffee and caramel flavors.

look: 3.75 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.5
Appearance: Pours a thick black liquid with a 1 finger coffee color foam head.
Smell: Whiffs of coffee and roasted malt and licorice.
Taste: This is interesting. On the front end the beer has a very coffee forward taste. Very sweet, very easy to drink. The back end is more "vegetably" which I suppose is due to the sweet potatoes. This makes it difficult to continue drinking, although the mouthfeel is very nice. Coffee, Sweet potatoes, roasted malt, honey, chocolate, and "gamey" notes.
Mouthfeel: It is very silky and very light for a stout. The viscous appearance is not at all seen in the mouthfeel. However i feel that that helps this beer because the vegetable aftertaste is tough to get down for me, but that is just a personal preference.
Overall: This beer is just ok. The vegetable added to a stout may just not be my style. Recommended for outdoor barbecues or get togethers.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Thank you to shan8454 for this beer in trade.
Appearance: Black, no light will shine through this one. No head or lacong on this one.
Smell: Faint malts and coffee.
Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth full bodied. Taste of faint alcohol, coffee, malts, and some starches.
Overall: This was an OK brew, not my favorite.

look: 3.75 | smell: 4 | taste: 3 | feel: 3 | overall: 3.5
Appearance - milky black with a dark brown head, pretty.
Smell - Cinnamon and roasted malts. Smell reminded me of thanksgiving sweet potatoes, you know with the layer of marshmallows on top.
Taste - Initial chocolate flavor, moderately sweet but the finish is a subtle earthy bitterness.
Mouthfeel - A short lightly creamy finish but all the flavor vanishes away with the liquid.
Overall - The beer is worth trying simply due to the novelty of a sweet potato stout. The beer smells fantastic but the taste/flavor was lacking. The brown head of the beer makes it look like it's going to pack some flavor (think Old Rasputin) but it simply doesn't.

Lazy Magnolia Jefferson Stout has a thick, tan head and a dark (almost black) brown appearance, with some reddish highlights at the edges. Only a little lacing is left behind. The aroma is of sweetness, malt, and cream. Taste is similar, with charcoal, coffee, a touch of chocolate, maybe some sweet potato, and a decent amount of underlying bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium, yet watery on some ways. Lazy Magnolia Jefferson Stout finishes wet, sweet, and drinkable. Overall, this is excellent and worth searching out.

This is easily the blackest pour I've seen with regards to the low ABV. Jeff Stout pours out pitch black with two fingers of dense head. The aroma is sweet, roasty, and ever so slightly earthy. The taste is pretty standard, sadly, there are not yams everywhere. They might attribute a slight bit of earthiness that could also be attributed to hops. There's a bit of stale coffee in the middle to go with some sweet and roasted malts. The mouthfeel is light and creamy, and the drinkability is solid. Overall, Jeff Stout is a pretty decent sweet stout. Not my favorite, but tasty enough. Should appeal to Guinness drinkers.

Cool jet black pour, looked silky and smooth, tan head on the top of it, a little bit smaller than average, but far from lacking in any way. Nose displayed faint roasted malt qualities, nothing in terms of potatoes (do those even smell?). Minimal chocolate.
Taste holds up. More chocolate, good quaffable malt consistency. Really enjoy the sweetness, its like you get a double dose seemingly from lactose and sweet potatoes, and they really work! It isn't overly sweet by any means, but it has a real enjoyable drinkability to it. The carbonation seems just right to allow different waves of flavor in the mouthfeel to coat the tongue. Its not just unique, but it also actually tastes good.
A little more complex than city slickers would ever want to admit comes out of the South. A little chocolate, coffee, lactose, sweet potato. . . even the potato I suspect has an oatmeal like lending of smoothness to the beer. Gotta like the low abv that makes this an even moreso effortless beer to drink.
