The description on their website was written before they got their beers on the market. In the end, they decided to filter this and make it a kristalweizen for reasons such as keeping the yeast from scaring people away and issues with the yeast settling in the keg. Still, its a tasty little beer with respectable bubblegum esters. Its on the darker side of the weizen group, but nothing so dark as to kick it out of style.

This beer had a big, two finger, bone-white head boiling with carbonation upon arrival, but with low retention. The color was a pale yellow with NE-quality clarity. The nose was very fruity, like JuicyFruit gum. The mouthfeel was somewhat light with a hefewiezen sweetness in the mouth. The finish had a faint sweet quality that lingered, along with a graininess that seemed mildly interesting.

At first taste I had a hight opinion of this beer. NIce clear gold color with a thin head. Very good aroma of banana and bubblegum. Good flavor of same.
However, the more I have had the more I have noticed a strange after taste. Also, it always seems to be under carbonated. A thin mouthfeel seems to be characteric too. Good flavor but, could use some tweaking.

This is a fine example of a Kristal Weisen. Poured an attractive dark gold with creamy white head that it didn't retain. Lacing was minimal. Good mouthfeel, and tasted a little like a witbier to me. Flavor has notes of honey and citrus. Carbonation seemed a little too light to me. Good beer.

I bought a Party Pig of this at the local Sav-A-Center.
A - A clear but dark yellow color, very little head after the first pour out of the party pig.
S - Average, nothing special. Hops fill the nose with a delightful odor, but nothing special.
T - Wow the look does not do it justice. A fruity taste at the beginning, with a beautiful taste of hops in the background.
M - Coats the throat and pallet with a nice flavor that lingers around for quite some time.
D - This is dangerous stuff, you could down many many of these in one session. It's upwards with the perfect combination of taste and drinkability.
Being this is a local brewery, I always have to support Lazy Magnolia. They make wonderful beer and the rest have been just as good. Support this brewery at all costs as it is a great small brewery and will continue to prosper.

This beer poured a cloudy dark gold color with a head that dissipated quickly. It had a faint floral smell. The taste was malty with a fruity aftertaste reminiscent of Belgian beers. It was medium bodied and slightly creamy. This is a very drinkable beer that isnt too filling.

Bought this on the MS gulf coast from a supermarket in a "party pig". This concept is new to me: 2.25 gallons, can be treated like a party ball but there's no tap and it will last until you finish it. Plus, it came in a box. Kind of like wine-in-a-box, but so much better.
Imagine a clear, clean hefeweizen color mixed with a light amber color, and you get what's in my glass. A bit darker than what you may expect, as others have said, but still clear and aesthetically pleasing, leaving just a tiny, tiny bit of head once it settles.
The nose is average, stopping just after a playful tease of what should be offered in a hefeweizen. Unfortunately, the taste is what you'd expect from it: a hint of clove & banana, but pulled away just as you start to enjoy it. Don't get me wrong, this is a palettable beer, but it's just lacking. This may be a tragic result of the 5% law in the state of Mississippi. Maybe if they were allowed to have just a bit more alcohol, some more of the flavor could come out?
A sip from the glass feels cool and crisp in the mouth at first, but is a bit sluggish in the end and lingers for a bit. Seems to be missing that clean snap that I'm looking for.
While the numbers aren't exactly stellar, I still must applaud Lazy Magnolia for pretty much pioneering the art of brewing in MS. Here's to improvement and better times for them in the future.
