Nice, light colour, with a thin, but OK head. Very fresh smell, almost like a lager. Taste is rather thin, with some fruits and hop aromas. The aftertaste, however, seems very artifical and reminds me of cheap lemon drops. Oppigårds usually do better than this.

Golden colour, small white head, lacing. Aroma is hoppy, straw, grass, fruit, lemon, grapefruit, apricot. Flavour is hoppy and it is very typical for Oppigårds hoppy and not very sweet. Mouthfeel is actually a bit watery and that is a first for a beer from Oppigårds for me, maybe low ABV is the culprit. This is good, but since i always have very high expectations when I open an Oppigårds this was a bit of a disappointment.

Serving date: 2009-03-04. Served in half-pint glass.

A: Golden orange, very pale and clear. Big, white and uneven head that settles after a while. Some lacings. Very reminiscent of a pale lager.

S: Pleasant smell of plenty of soft hop notes (citric aromas), earth, sweet malt. Very refreshing.

T: Caramel malt at first. Then plenty of hops: lemon peel, grapefruits, ripe apples, floral notes, resins. Some herbs, and a taste of tonic water. For a while, a bready maltiness and butterscotch take over. The finish is somewhat dry and surprisingly bitter, has some floral hop notes and metallic maltiness. Not a very pleasant finish actually as the bitterness dominates to much.

M: Plenty of carbonation and a surprisingly light body. Again, the beer is close to lager territory.

D: An ok beer, rather refreshing and very easy to drink. The smell is way better than the taste though. Would have liked bolder hop flavors.

Oppigårds is a brewery which stands for quality, and I don't think they have brewed a single bad beer. This one is no exception.

The beer pours a bright amber color with a big white head, the head leaves quite a lacing on the glass.

Aroma holds lots of green apples, herbs and lots and lots of hops. Some slightly roasted malts can be found too.

Taste is even better than the smell! Lots of those green apples and herbs together with a nice hoppiness. Nice! You almost get those "spring feelings" when you drink it.

Been sitting in my fridge for over a month...it's time to review this
beer that fellow BA Bark was raving about!

A: Orange (a bit cloudy) with a creamy white lace that sticks to the glass.

S: Grapefruit, Hops, Lemon, Buttercandy.

T: Pine, Lemon, Caramel, Resin.

M: Light and refreshing with a nice crisp bitterness at the end.

Well, this is a very balanced beer that would work perfect as a session-beer. I like!

OG 1049, SG 1012, EBC 14, IBU 42.

The beer pours with a fizzing sound; the colour is pale copper-amber. The two finger head is airy and white; it sinks slowly while leaving some fine lacing. The liquid is clear.

The smell is very sweet and fruity with a bitter-sour note. It reminds me somewhat of a lemon/lime soft drink. I noticed some citric "American" flavours as well as a hint of cooked meat.

The taste is not as sweet as the smell indicated. There are some mild malty flavours of rye bread and some dough. The beer is dry hopped, witch makes it hoppy and quite bitter. Dry hoppy flavours of grapefruits, lime and a touch of coriander are present. The aftertaste brings some notes of meat loaf, tonic water and grape fruit juice. The finish brings some sweet malty flavours of barley bread and gentle lemon bitterness.

The carbonation is quite strong for an English bitter (as the fizzing sound pointed to), but it is not too strong; the flavours are rather strengthen than hidden. The bubbles are very small. The liquid is mid-smooth.

The brewery stated that they tried to create a beer that was a mix of English bitter and American pale ale. I think that they have succeeded!
